Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (we are non-profit organization, and we simply wanted to make our information available for anyone in need. We did some research and found that other non-profits had pages of their own. We made the page ourselves because we thought that we would be the best person to do it. If there is another way to make a Wikipedia page please let us know. We would like to make it easier for our clients to find out more information about us. We do have a website, but Wikipedia is so popular that we wanted to use every avenue to get to the people who need our services the most. We really do hope that our page won't be deleted. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. I will be reading "starting your first page" article to learn more. Thank you for your time.) --Bay Area Legal Services (talk) 13:56, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Writing about your own organization is an inherent conflict of interest, a practice that is not prohibited but highly discouraged on Wikipedia.
Statements like "We would like to make it easier for our clients to find out more information about us" and "we wanted to use every avenue to get to the people" show that your intention is to use Wikipedia for publicity. This is not permitted, regardless of whether you are a for-profit business or a non-profit organization. While your organization may do good work, please be aware that Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause. --Drm310 (talk) 14:30, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. -- GB fan 13:57, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
