Nice work
[edit]I was impressed that you have already begun contributing to Votes for deletion - it's a dirty job, and it's always good to see a newcomer jump into it!
For this display of enthusiasm, I awarded you with the Exceptional Newcomer Award, and posted it on your user page. Good job!

Tireless Contributor Barnstar
[edit]Wow - thank you! That means a great deal to me!
If you want to know why I awarded you with the Exceptional Newcomer Award, this is a good example. As a newcomer, you quickly figured out our polices, and where all manner of debates and polls were taking place. Plus, I noticed that you have been contributing to VfD, which so many people avoid like the plague. Thank you for everything you're helping us with here, and though you personally for the barnstar.

Moving God
[edit]Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for deciding to contribute, and for what you've already done.
You should probably be aware of some conventions here. One of the important ones is that controversial and important articles like God are not moved or renamed without considerable consultation. You may think it obvious that the name should be changed, but others may not, and they may have good reasons why the article should be left as it is.
May I suggest you add to the talk page (at both Talk:God and Talk:Monotheistic God explaining the reasons for what you have done, and let people add their comments.
DJ Clayworth 01:06, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC) DJ Clayworth 01:01, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I appreciate you idea, and a move to God would indeed solve some of the deadlocks of the current article. However, the very question of what this article should be about, and how to draw a line between monotheistic God and polytheistic gods has been discussed very thoroughly on the page, and the issue is unresolved and a bit delicate. Therefore your unannounced move seemed a bit rash. No harm is done, though, we're just moving it back to where it was ;) dab 07:45, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
VFD
[edit]When you list something for deletion, be sure you add it to the main VFD page—otherwise it's likely to be overlooked. Wikipedia:Votes for deletion#VfD footer has complete instructions. —No-One Jones (m) 01:51, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit]To answer your question: The original posting was a really malformed substub. I felt directing the thing to Vermont was the best thing to do since it didn't make clear where in Europe it was supposed to be. By all means, please feel free to expand the original article as you see fit. I'm heading for home. Long work day tomorrow. :^) Best, Lucky 6.9 01:55, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Redirect you created at "Joseph Jacinto "Jo" Mora"
[edit]Hi, you created a redirect from Joseph Jacinto "Jo" Mora to Jo Mora, but there is currently no article at Jo Mora. (It seems to have been deleted since the redirect was created.) Wikipedia policy is to get rid of redirects to non-existent pages, and someone listed Joseph Jacinto "Jo" Mora on WP:RfD If you want the redirect to stay, you will need to create something at Jo Mora (even a stub will do), or else the redirect will go away. If you do create the target, you don't have to do anything on WP:RfD (we'll eventually notice the target is there), but if you do, just delete the entry for Joseph Jacinto "Jo" Mora. Thanks! Noel (talk) 16:03, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
PS: I don't usually check other User_talk: pages (so that I don't have to monitor a whole long list of User_Talk: pages - one for each person with whom I am having a "conversation"), so please leave any messages for me on my talk page (above); if you leave a message for me here I probably will not see it. I know not everyone uses this style (they would rather keep all the text of a thread in one place), but I simply can't monitor all the User_talk: pages I leave messages on. Thanks!
Second rate votes for deletion.
[edit]I feel that Second rate should go to Wikipedia:Pages needing attention instead of WP:VfD. I don't know much about this sort of stuff, though, so you may be correct. -- Lee S. Svoboda 17:28, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Request for Deletion
[edit]Hi Bart! I saw your request for deletion for NapSatan, which seems reasonable enough to me. I posted that entry myself, and I understand how its use might not be widespread enough to remain on Wikipedia. (It is certainly not a hoax, though.) However, I also noticed that you seem to have listed your justification for deletion of another entry, Homespring, under the NapSatan heading. NapSatan is not at all affiliated with esoteric programming languages. It looks like you need to create a new entry for Homespring. I'm a newbie (and now a bitten one at that), but I'm fairly sure that this is a case of misfiling. Thanks for your attention. Heathy --Heathy 19:51, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
The page that you created (previously located at Nicky Jam) has been deleted. If you were trying to perform a test, it worked. However, for the future, it would be appreciated if you would perform all tests at Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you want to test creating new pages, please use test.wikipedia. Please do not continue to create test pages outside of the test wikipedia, or it may be percieved as vandalism. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a note on my talk page. Please ignore the part about it being percieved as vandalism, I know that you know it should be deleted :), this is a template. Thanks for tagging it as a speedy, but like I said, please perform tests in test wikipedia if possible. -Frazzydee|✍ 17:47, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't know that was still a problem...I remember how that used to happene to me when a sysop deleted the article before I saved it with the delete tag, so I presume the same thing happened to you. I assumed that it was fixed in mediawiki 1.4, sorry about that! -Frazzydee|✍ 17:56, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Adminship
[edit]I came across your name one day when checking your watchlist, and I was impressed, upon looking over your edit history and talk pages, at the degree of community involvement you have shown and people you have impressed during your brief tenure here. If you're interested, when you get over 1000 edits, I'd gladly nominate you to adminship. Cheers, →Iñgōlemo← (talk) 05:22, 2005 Jan 31 (UTC)
- I too came across your name, and although I'm nowhere near an admin, I just thought I'd say I really enjoyed your articles and your work here. So, in the words of Mike Nelson - "Thanks." :) ...now if only I had the time to edit here more... Nick04 21:28, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I don't enjoy seeing articles such as Fruit Brute being carelessly posted to VfD by 6th grade students. I will be voting against said adminship if it's ever proposed unless careful consideration is given to VfD listings in the future. —RaD Man (talk) 06:34, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- You most certainly may. However, it immediately followed up with an extremely valid stub: [1] "Fruit Brute: is one of a line of monster-themed breakfast cereals produced by General Mills. It is also the name of the cereal's mascot, a variant of Frankenstein's monster. Other cereals in the line include Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Fruit Brute, and Yummy Mummy. (Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy are no longer sold in retail stores.)" effectively obviating the opening nonsense. There is no reasonable excuse for nominating this extremely noteworthy breakfast cereal for deletion just because of a silly opening sentence. That's what the EDIT THIS PAGE button is made for, end of story. —RaD Man (talk) 03:52, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- We all have VfDed articles that shouldn't have been. I don't think I lie when I say that. Every one of us has at one point come across an article with so nonsensical (with a title to match) that we don't even bother to reasearch further. Unless you can come up with an extensive analysis showing a pattern of overzealous VfD nominations, the Fruit Brute issue is little more than anecdotal evidence.
I must also take issue with the mention of Bart's age in the above criticism. The point is that Fruit Brute was listed carelessly, not that it was listed by a sixth-grade student. →Iñgōlemo← talk 04:50, 2005 Feb 7 (UTC)
Thanks for editing repeated words
[edit]Thanks for your work at User:R3m0t/Reports. Ignoring the fact that Gmail addresses are now dirt cheap and available on Wikipedia, I can offer you up to 3 addresses as token of gratitude (and showing off that I have those invitations ;)) If you accept (reply on the reports page please), make sure that you are accepting e-mails from the left link "E-mail this user". r3m0t 22:06, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright tags
[edit]Hi. I was wondering about the image copyright tagging you've been doing. It's valuable grunt work, and I'm glad to see someone working on it. Looking at a couple of your contributions, I was wondering if you could fill me in on how you assigned GFDL status to these images: Image:Router bit profiles.png and Image:Rotsnake2.jpg. I'm concerned that the latter in particular may be derived from copyrighted work by A. Kitaoka. It would also help out a lot of people if you could answer the questions on the nomination page. Cheers! --TenOfAllTrades | Talk 20:21, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Fair play, then. I must have been particularly unlucky in picking out a couple of images from your contribution history—glancing through some of the rest, I'm quite pleased to see clean, thorough tagging. --TenOfAllTrades | Talk 01:53, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Deletions
[edit]in re: deletions: I'm confused by an element of the deletion policy. If I see an obvious vanity page, can I submit as delete or nonsense for speedy deletion? I'm running across lots of cases where it seems that VfD is the official word but there's less than 1% chance they will survive VfD -- and submitting to VfD is nine times as hard as speedy deletion.
Obviously I won't blank anymore... that was out of frustration at the length of the formal deletion process. Alba 04:01, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Thank you!
[edit]Just a quick "thank you" for voting me for admin. Now all I've got to do is find out how to use these worrying new powers... Grutness|hello? 06:02, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Your adminship nomination
[edit]I know it's only been two days of voting and you still have five days left, but if my observation is correct it is now almost certainly not possible for you to achieve consensus for promotion to adminship. But don't get discouraged - many fine admins were promoted only on their second (even third) subsequent nominations. JuntungWu 16:43, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Hey Bart, I hope there are no hard feelings about my position on your RFA. I think you're doing great work so far. As I just noted in a comment there, I am hesitant about quick nominations in general. Perhaps a little more so for younger folk. As Juntung points out, lots of names you'll recognize got turned down a couple times, Neutrality for instance. Keep it up like this, and you can count on me next time around if you don't make it now. Wolfman 02:51, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)
The good news about your nomination: despite failing, a plurality of people still supported you. Way to go. If the comments there are any indication, if we try again in May you're almost certain to succeed. →Iñgōlemo← talk donate 04:22, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Bad Jokes? We ain't got no stinking Bad Jokes and Other Deleted Nonsense!
[edit]Hey Bart133, regarding Wikipedia talk:Bad jokes and other deleted nonsense, I would like to lobby you to change your vote from supporting
- "Nonsense? Nonsense? We don't need no stinking bad jokes and other deleted nonsense!"
to supporting
- "Bad Jokes? We ain't got no stinking Bad Jokes and Other Deleted Nonsense!"
The reason I make this request is that the title is a pun on the quote "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!", and "Bad Jokes" is a much better pun on the word "Badges" than "nonsense" is. Thanks for your involvement in BJAODN! Kevyn 17:57, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hello. Round four of Wikipedia Mind Benders will open on Thursday, December 1. This round will be drastically different from round three; part one will consist of a creative project, and part two will be developed from there. The full details will be released when the round opens. Time and speed should not be major factors in this round; thus, there is no exact opening time for the round as speed will not factor into the scoring. Thanks! A short Esperanzial update
[edit]As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Math?
[edit]As well as helping with the stub sensor project in the convential way I also update the percentages completed as not all users do this. Thank you for updating yours. However, I calculate the percentages based on the fact that each section already had 20 articles originally (and assume that the very last section, which obviously may not do, also has this number of articles). Some users do not do whole sections, Revragnarok kindly removed the Arrondissement of.. links and some sections had red links. Therefore, it is not necessary for the percentages to be multiples of four. Whilst I appreciate users adding four when they have completed a section or estimating, it is a bit annoying to see the whole tables percentages all being made into mulitples of four when I go to the trouble of calcualting each percentage carefully. Deletions from the Nailsworth page
[edit]Notable Nailsworthians. Sue Limb, why is she in there? She doesn’t live in Nailsworth, there must be plenty of notable people living ‘near’ Nailsworth. Simon Kitson who few people have heard of and lives in Birmingham gets a mention for some reason. While Betty Mills who is well known locally, lives in Nailsworth and has given it years of faithful service doesn’t even get a mention. Appaling.
Oh.... And Kit Williams lives in Horsley not Nailsworth... So he doesnt count either.

[edit]Hello Bart and thank you for your good work. However, may I ask you to please refrain from placing messages on vandals' talk pages warning them that they've been reported to WP:AIV? Such warnings are unnecessary as: a report to WP:AIV does not guarantee a block; informing a vandal that they've been reported isn't going to change anything. Thank you. Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

Re: Reverting redirections of American Dragon: Jake Long episodes
[edit]Not on your life. They should never have been deleted in the first place. I'm saving them as well as the images attached to them while I still can! This rampant deletion of articles on television episode has got to stop! ---- DanTD 16:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- And what do you call the rampant misuse of AfD to get articles deleted? It's getting to the point where nobody can write a damn thing anymore! The best anybody can hope for is to transfer them to TV Wiki! Either way MER-C did a disservice to Wikipedia by nominating them for deletion! ---- DanTD 16:56, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Removal of warnings
[edit]Bart, I don't know about all the abuse stuff the IP wrote about on your talk page, but he's right that removing warnings is not prohibited by policy. Archiving is preferred, but removal is taken to mean they've been read and acknowledged. See Wikipedia:User_page#Removal_of_warnings. I'm looking into the other things right now.--Chaser - T 18:45, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Okay. The abuse stuff would probably be counted as a personal attack. However, the text with which he replaced the warnings was definitely against policy. Also, he removed {{sharedip}} templates, which is also prohibited as far as I know. Bart133 (t) (c) 18:48, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about the sharedip template, but otherwise yeah, I agree with you. Your warning and handling of the situation were absolutely proper, so I'll just leave it at the warning (it was pretty egregious, but we don't normally block unless it will prevent some future vandalism or attack). Thanks and cheers!--Chaser - T 18:51, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Beau Long
[edit]Good day,
I'm writing you to ask why Beau Long's page was marked for deletion when many exist within the same criteria with no worries. Michael White page for example.. his bandmate IS the Nuthin Sacred indie label and run out of their apartment. He's done extensive editing to his own page and it's there purely for self promotion as well as the rest of the Mojo Rib stuff. There are many other examples that fill the Wiki site. We helped shape an era of the LA scene in the 80's and should be considered legitimate entries. Especially considering the amount of "bedroom only" musicians that are on the site.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Dev-cpp.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Dev-cpp.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:01, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Catpiano
[edit]Why did you delete the article on Catpiano? I know it seems as a hoax but it's not, atleast it is true that it was an idea to cure insanity since it is mentioned in several german books from the time. Most information also points that it was in fact used in practical application. Use a search on google with these keywords (cat-piano, katzenclavier, insanity) you'll find that my information does not come out of thin air and is not a hoax. My article may be small and does not contain A4's of information but it is a small subject and it isn't much more to write about it and I seen several pages on WP that is equally small or smaller than my catpiano article. And does not conform to any of the WP vandalism criteria. Next time you blame an article of Vandalism please EXPLAIN why and pinpoint your opinion to a WP Vandalism criteria. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.182.112.48 (talk) 11:22, 24 January 2005 (UTC)

I'm confused
[edit]Hi, I followed a link to ask you about a page I just made. I'm kind if a n00b so I hope I'm in the right place.
Anyway, I just spent like 3 hours making this page about this page. I found and posted all the references that it calls for. It's a wiki about a band, I don't see how that would be a problem. In short - I 'm completely confused with what I did wrong. Why is there a notice for deletion on it?
Unopposed98 (talk) 17:25, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
"Your references are all social networking pages, such as Myspace. Those don't really assert notability. See the notability guidelines for bands. Thanks, Bart133 (t) (c) 17:28, 29 January 2008 (UTC)"
ok, but the pages themselves are made by the artists. There's an online contract that you must agree to to when you make a music page, so by a fan point of view, one must assume that all the information, seeing as it's repeated among MANY pages online, would be plausible.
Well, myspace has become more of a standard and less of just another networking site. I don't know, people don't seem to be their wasting time and money to construct sites that they have to pay for, since myspace offered everything you'd need for band promoting. I did the best I could and found all the external references that I could find. I worked hard on this. I'm a big fan of this band. How am I supposed to find an article specifically about something they've done over 5 years ago (ie. gotten radio play or interviews).
btw, I noticed this page managed to somehow slip through the cracks of the "wiki approval system", (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Folly_(band)). I'd love to know why is this allowed to be up without references? The whole article is mostly name dropping without any kind of reference (wiki or external) or link to back the claim. This goes against the "Criteria for musicians and ensembles"
...Why is this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Unopposed98 (talk • contribs) 23:37, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Bart, Since it has the disclaimer, that is being used to support the named page...can we leave it in for awhile? I have stopped the communications to others, per your warning, but I would like to leave it in the discussion. It is my concise opinion on the matter. Deletion of my page!!!
[edit]There's a note to contact you if I don't understand the reasons my page (Jack Taylor Financial News Anchor) is marked for deletion.
I'm at the end of what I can think of. I've put in all the references I can think of. I've looked at all the other entries on the WGN page for the articles about the other broadcast personalities and I don't see what I'm doing/not doing differently that any of the other pages.
I honestly can't think of what I could do to point out this guy's notability. (And I especially don't see what I'm missing that other articles have.) He's a pioneer and shaper of TV, at least in Chicago. Asking why Taylor is notable is like asking why Thomas Edison is notable.
I have no connection to Taylor, I have absolutely no axe to grind. I just thought his absence among the WGN personalities was conspicuous as Taylor is still on the air whereas most of the others listed are not only off the air, but dead!
Suggestions, and better yet, SPECIFIC EXAMPLES, please. Thanks.Tgdf (talk) 16:17, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, article logistics, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts and copy-editing alerts.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Woody (talk) 10:32, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Regarding your comment on the MFD of this userbox; I could ask the user but they're retired. I did consider that actually. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 04:06, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Thankyou
[edit]Just a little note to say thankyou for participating in my successful RFA candidacy, which passed with 96 supports, 0 opposes, and 1 neutral. I am pleasantly taken aback by the amount of support for me to contribute in an administrative role and look forward to demonstrating that such faith is well placed. Someone, probably you, requested access to the account creation tool. For security purposes could you please confirm that it was you who made the request so we can approve you, thanks. —— RyanLupin • (talk) 22:38, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on irc and/or the mailing list. Keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse may result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. —— RyanLupin • (talk) 22:46, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
