The article Kurt Rappaport has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.  ajmint  (talkedits) 23:35, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

Hi, you can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~.

  • There's no point comparing your man's article with others, some slip under the reviewer's radar, and, with the best will in the world different admins may reach different assessments.
  • As you know, you have to provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It looks as if he meets those criteria.
  • The main problem is that it's was written in a highly promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.
  • Examples of unsourced spammy or peacocky claims presented as fact include: mogul... celebrity... widely regarded as the top high-end brokerage... most prolific buying spree in residential history... ultra high-end real estate
  • There is a direct link in the text to his company, also spammy (in fact, there shouldn't be any url links in the main text, only the "Reference" or "External links" sections.
  • TMZ has referred to him as the Zelig of celebrity real estate — well, they do, but it's an anonymous comment in a source that doesn't really compare with the NY Times, and just adds to the general "this guy is wonderful" tone.
  • There is no content that isn't part of the glorification — no age, city of birth, education, marital status. All I know is that he is an American male, don't even know if he is American-born
  • In my experience, estate agents have been known to attract criticism, but apparently not our hero.
  • Those sales images of the houses have to go, the image descriptions are pure estate agent spam, if the text isn't changed, I'll list them for deletion. I think it's likely that they can't be used anyway, since I don't think there is freedom of panorama in the US.
  • There are too many images for the amount of text anyway.

If you want to try again, do a draft here and let me know when you want me to take a look Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:08, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jim-Thanks for the thorough advice. I made changes on the page you specified. Welcome your thoughts... And as an aside, I don't want this to be promotional at all. I am, in fact, trying to combat some misinformation that's out there. So keeping it neutral is what I want to do. Problem is, most citations have big sales numbers, which make it seem more sales-oriented than intended.

Jim-I think it's ready for another look if you don't mind. Thank you for your patience.

Did I file the new piece and alert you correctly? Barrett90035 (talk) 00:22, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for email, sorry about delay, but I don't normally watch user pages. A message on my talk page is probably the best way to reach me. I think it's probably as good as it's going to get, the newspapers are independent sources, and it's pretty factual. I think it's established his notability (rather than just that of his celebrity clients). You should see a "move" tag at the top of your screen to transfer the page to article space (don't cut-and-paste). Good luck Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:03, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd forgotten that I'd protected the page, another admin picked that up, so it's fixed now Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:15, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Westside Estate Agency, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello, Barrett90035. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:14, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi James, I removed the link that I believe caused the conflict of interest flagging (at the time I thought the more the merrier when it came branches on the info tree that had legit citation. So it has been removed. I want to see what I can do to make sure the page is out of danger... anything else I can do? Kent

Sock-puppet

[edit]

As already noted, this is a sock-puppet of Rappaport. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.194.55.187 (talk) 11:28, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
