A minor problem
[edit]Hi Barneca sock 1, I really hate to pounce on one of your first edits, but something seems to have gone wrong, and I’ve reverted your recent edit on the page Ecuador.
Sorry for the length of this message, but since you haven’t been here before, it’s hard to tell if this was a test, a mistake, if you’re editing in pieces and weren’t done, or if this was vandalism. And there's always the very real possibility that I've made a mistake.
- If it was a test edit, please experiment in the sandbox instead of in articles. You can do anything you like in the sandbox (within reason), without people like me sticking our noses in. Or, you can experiment in your own, personal sandbox here: User:Barneca sock 1/Sandbox.
- If it was a mistake, don’t worry about it. Wiki’s make undoing mistakes easy. If you were about to revert your own mistake and I beat you to it, sorry for jumping the gun.
- If you are doing things in stages, please use an edit summary explaining what you’re doing, and people who see your edit will give you time to finish up. In fact, it’s a good idea to always use an edit summary to explain your edit.
- If it was vandalism, well, please don’t do that. It takes a lot of effort to revert vandalism, and it can get you blocked from editing articles.
- Finally, if I've reverted a legitimate edit by mistake, then I apologize. Please feel free to put it back, but make sure to use an edit summary or leave an explanation on the article's talk page so I (and others) know to leave it alone this time.
If you’d like to discuss this, or anything else, please leave me a message at the bottom of my talk page. --barneca (talk) 21:32, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Revised nn-warn notice
[edit]Hello Barneca sock 1, I'm sorry, but I've placed a tag on Ecuador requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
I know this is distressing, but I didn't do this to be a jerk. I did this because long-term, I don't believe this is going to be able to be included in the encyclopedia, and it's better to nip it in the bud rather than have you pend time creating something that won't survive.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies.
If the article is deleted before you can use the {{hangon}} tag, you still have options!
First, please read the policies and criteria listed above. If, after reading, you believe you can satisfy our notability requirements, you can do one of the following:
- Explain your reasoning (calm and polite often works better than stressed and rude, even when you are angry) to the deleting administrator in his or her talk page. If they agree, they can undelete the article.
- Ask the deleting admin, or any admin listed here, to place a copy of the article in your user space, for you to work on. Note that this cannot be a permanent home for articles about non-notable subjects, but is a temparary measure to allow you some breathing room.
- Contest the deletion at Deletion review. This takes the most effort, so it is suggested you use this only as a last resort.
If you are new here, I'm sorry for the rough start. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --barneca (talk) 02:21, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
checking something
[edit]testing--barneca (talk) 20:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi Barneca sock 1,
I've speedily deleted the article Ecuador. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. I know having an article deleted can be stressful; feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
Finally, I see you haven't been officially welcomed, so allow me to do the honors; some of the links below should help with creating an article that meets our criteria for inclusion. --barneca (talk) 00:25, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
