Because a photographic depiction is a depiction of a human being with better fidelity than a canvas.--Asqueladd (talk) 22:39, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hernán Cortés

[edit]

I don't know the origin of that image you put on Hernán Cortés, but without any authenticating details, it has no historical significance. If it's "own work" as you claimed in uploading it, Wikipedia has no interest in the image. I've backed out your change. Tarl N. (discuss) 20:52, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The second image is believed to be a 19th century painting, possibly a copy of some other painting. As such, the historical relevance is minimal. Tarl N. (discuss) 23:46, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'll note that even the image that is currently on the page is non-contemporary. But going to a more recent non-contemporary image is not an improvement. Tarl N. (discuss) 23:48, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Barbudo Barbudo. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Re: Spanish Empire map

[edit]

Hello. Really I do not understand this message [1]. Anyone can observe that the discussion has already been closed, [2] and the map is supported by secondary and reliable sources [3]. In fact I suppose there will be no map in Wikipedia supported with so many sources. Trasamundo (talk) 23:35, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Carlos de Beistegui, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Decorator (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:59, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
