Hello, this is the first time I am writing on Wikipedia. I have copied a text sent to me by my friend Joe Giarratano after he read what was written about him earlier. Can you please help me to get this text on Wikipedia.

Unfortunately we can't as we have a no original research policy. This means that statements in articles must be sourced to reliable secondary sources like newspapers, books, journals, etc. --NeilN talk to me 19:44, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Joseph Giarratano. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. You're not doing yourself any favors with your last edits. Please discuss them on the article's talk page. NeilN talk to me 12:57,

23 were sent to me by Joe Giarratano. He was born in 1956 for example. The sources for what I wrote are in a petition to the governor. Should I write that as a source? Barbara

Absolutely not. Please reread what I wrote above: This means that statements in articles must be sourced to reliable secondary sources like newspapers, books, journals, etc. Petitions are not considered a reliable source and letters from a subject must be published by a reliable source before the contents can be considered. Even then, statements sourced to the letters are restricted by these rules: Wikipedia:SELFPUB#Self-published_and_questionable_sources_as_sources_on_themselves. --NeilN talk to me 13:17, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh. You're only going to get yourself blocked if you keep this up. Suggest you use Talk:Joseph Giarratano to discuss your changes. --NeilN talk to me 17:17, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the birth year until a source can be found. I will also add your link to the bottom where it belongs. Hopefully this is enough. --NeilN talk to me 17:25, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Barbara

I have been sent a list of secondary sources regarding Joe Giarratano's case. What would be the suggested procedure to list them? Thank you.

Hi Barbara, I suggest you list them on Talk:Joseph Giarratano so editors watching the articles can weigh in. --NeilN talk to me 03:41, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
