[edit]My proposal has in fact been accepted in a deletion discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal alumni
That the redlinks are "in fact distinguished alumni of NITK" does not take away the fact they are redlinks. Additionally, Wikipedia is not in the business of maintaining or enhancing an institution's reputation, especially not through maintaining a list of who went there, which may or may not be accurate.
The proper way to proceed is to create articles on individual entries and adding them to the article on the institution as they are created. Under no consideration is a redlink to remain in a list of "notable alumni," even if its absence harms the institution.
Once the list of alumni within the article becomes too unwieldy to stay within the parent article and contains not a single redlink, then and only then you may create a separate list. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 15:01, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
