This is an excellent example of how difficult it is for beginners to use Wikipedia's help pages. I eventually figured out (because I misused "helpme" in asking a Reference Desk question) about the use of nowicki /nowicki. But I was still left to infer that double brace helpme double brace is, in fact, a template.
I am certain that I am being staggeringly stupid about all of this -- but I suspect I am not the only person who has found it very discouraging, on first sticking a toe into Wikipedia editorial waters, to encounter so much unexplained Wikijargon. Terry Belanger 03:56, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Next question: I drafted an article on Kenneth Karmiole in my userspace, but I was unable to figure out how to move it to mainspace; the MOVE help pages (at least the ones that I was able to find) deal with moving already existing mainspace material from one place to another in mainspace territory; on some of the help pages there was reference to MOVE at the top of the page, and to various skins; but I have no skins in my userspace nor can I find instructions on how to create them, and no MOVE button or tab, neither, in my userspace draft area. In despair, I finally simply used cut and paste to move the draft article to mainspace, and this worked -- but the article title came in "Kenneth karmiole" rather than "Kenneth Karmiole," and I cannot figure out how to fix it. Terry Belanger 04:06, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, hello there. I understand your frustration, Wikipedia seems difficult and sometimes overwhelming for new editors, but I am confident you will quickly learn and find that it's not that difficult after understanding the basics. This is not you being stupid, this is Wikipedia being big, busy, and not user-friendly at first glance.
- As for the article, I moved it for you to the right name : besides the "edit" button, there is a little arrow on which you can click, and from there you will be able to move most pages.
- If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them on this page (which is your "talk page", a page in your userspace that editors use to communicate with you) again, as I will monitor it, or on my talk page, by clicking here : User talk:CharlieEchoTango, and by editing the page the same way you wrote your message here.

- (e/c) First, I must tell you there is no cure-all for the complexities of Wikipedia. It is a vast site with many policies and guidelines, formatting complications, wikimarkup, templates, magic words, and on and on. I would suggest, however, that you try taking a tour through Wikipedia's tutorial. Regarding the move issue, the problem you are having is because the new default skin (called vector) has this incredibly stupid interface that does not place a clear move button at the top of the page as it used to be, but hides it—at the top of the screen you should see links for "Read", "Edit" "View history" then a star symbol, and next to that a little downward facing arrow; click on the arrow and the move function is there. I have moved the page for you. Though it would not matter in this instance, since you were the only editor, note that cut and paste moves should not be done—if other users had edited the page, the cut and paste move would orphan the page history. Apologies to CharlieEchoTango who moved the cut and paste to the better title--I overwrote that with the move, because the true page history was at the userspace draft. If you have any future problems, please do not hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:22, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
