A tag has been placed on Michael kersting, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. @Chrissymad: Hi! It seems to be a 1:1 translation of the German article, which seems to be notable enough to stay there. Also, I think that you might have forgotten to place the tag so I can't click the aforementioned link to contest the speedy deletion. :) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:48, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
ToBeFree Not really sure what this has to do with advert/promo material. Notability is an entirely separate issue...CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Chrissymad: The German article exists since 25 February 2011‎. It has not been "speedily deleted" for being an obvious advertisement since over 7 years. It has rather been improved by many different editors over the time. That was all I noticed when I saw the translation, wanted to add a WikiData link, inform the editor about the general rules of translation attribution and suddenly saw your message here. About that specific message, could you please add the tag or correct your message? You have not tagged the article to be speedily deleted, yet created this talk page entry. There seems to be an error here.
About the article: I have, afterwards, carefully read the original German version and was able to confirm your concerns. I have added a message explaining the problems* and will nominate the German article for deletion if it is not improved within, say, a few weeks or a month. That seems to be a reasonable way to give the article a chance. It had originally been created under mentorship of an experienced user on de.wikipedia.org, by a new user who wanted to learn how to create articles. I do not think that we're dealing with an autobiography or self-advertisement here. It is at least not such a crystal-clear case that in my opinion a speedy deletion would be justified. When the German article has been improved, I will copy the improvements to the translation. If it gets deleted instead, we're suddenly stuck with an entirely different problem: Lack of copyright attribution. I don't know what happens when the source translation is deleted; maybe there are special rules for this case. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:15, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
PS: The article has since then been moved; it is now located at Michael Kersting. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:17, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
*Rough translation by Google Translator. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:28, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OOOOH! The article has been created two times:
  • 22:01, 1 April 2018 Reddogsix (talk | contribs) moved page Michael kersting to Michael Kersting without leaving a redirect (Fixed caps) (revert) (thank)
  • 20:06, 16 March 2018 RHaworth (talk | contribs) deleted page Michael kersting (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)
Your message was referring to the older article. Now that the article has been moved, this becomes obvious as the deletion log is displayed in red. And I should have had a closer look at your message's time signature. I've been replying to the wrong message. I can't see the old deleted version of the article, but I assume that it must have been of lower quality than the current version. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:52, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
