{{helpme}}

please help me figure what i did wrong in this edit. i ended up fixing it, but if you look here

http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=War_on_Drugs&diff=prev&oldid=203845561

you can see that the formatting got vucked. the 'history' section was gone from the contents table, and placed above the table even though no change was made to the part that links the table and the text, ie '==history=='.

thank you

Badmachine (talk) 22:23, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That was actually a common one. If you include a space in front of a line, it generates that box effect you see. -Optigan13 (talk) 22:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

just cant seem to get it right today... guess im going to give up

[edit]

just kidding. but i made 6 edits in a row on an article today. the first was a minor misspelling fix, then it took 5 edits to fit jocelyn elders into the war on drugs page. jeez, i think im going to take a nap. (=

and worse, i just realised that i didnt even fit her name into my edit. im not going to do that today given my run of bad luck. and many thanks to optigan13 who pointed out that my error was fairly common; now i dont feel so bad about it. - restored from Revision as of 22:43, 6 April 2008 badmachine (talk) 05:42, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Hi Badmachine!
We thank you for uploading Image:Gov John Gilligan.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
This message is from a robot. --John Bot III (talk) 13:18, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Aranda Residence, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Aranda Hotel. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BADMACHINE: There is a book published few years ago called CENTER SQUARE. It details how Barresi found Paul Lynde's body. There is your source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.160.11.36 (talk) 01:24, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wilson, Steve & Joe Florenski, Center Square - The Paul Lynde Story. New York, NY:Advocate Publishing. 2005.

Please learn to site sources correctly -- HOWEVER this is not in the Article and Advocate's, Wilson's and Florenski's sources appear to be rather tainted. Rednath (talk) 15:54, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

since i havent contributed to any articles lately, please indicate where i incorrectly sited (sic) a source. although i believe i am a fair hand at doing this, any help you can offer is appreciated. i am always happy to learn from my mistakes. many thanks, shawn Badmachine (talk) 09:34, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry Badmachine, I did not mean that comment for you I meant it for IP 71.160.11.36 who I traced to be Mr. Paul Barresi, himself... He tends to throw articles and book titles at people and does not give a date, publisher or author -- MY BAD for not making it clear! I think the IP was rude to you and was just trying to help as this guy has left obnoxious suggestions and incomplete information all over... I apologize! Rednath (talk) 06:23, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. I did in fact remove the paragraph, as well as some surrounding ones, as unsourced or WP:OR. But I'd say there are undoubtedly references in reliable sources to drug dealing in the Tenderloin, in the SF Chronicle, SF Bay Guardian, or SF Weekly, and if they can be found, by all means feel free to rewrite some of that material with sources. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Observer effect (disambiguation), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.remoteviewer.nu/?p=8033. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

i made Observer effect (disambiguation) after hearing the phrase used in the latest episode of King of the Hill. when i looked it up here on wikipedia, i was taken to a star trek article, and didnt know there were other uses. i put an {{otheruses}} tag on the star trek article and the experimental research article after i found that it isn't just an episode of star trek. at least it is better than it was. badmachine (talk) badmachine (talk) 04:46, 21 November 2008 (UTC) edited badmachine (talk) 05:47, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, as you forgot on your recent edit to Manhunt.net. Thank you. your message is perplexing, since i dont remember editing the article, and dont see my name in the history. please let me know. badmachine (talk) 08:11, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There i changed it to the correct article, Manhunt.net, You left an edit summary but it was an automatic one. If you get in the habit of always saying what you are doing, you wont ever forget an edit summary :) well for most of the time lol. Dillard421 (talkcontribs) 08:47, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Bristol Hotel San Francisco

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Bristol Hotel San Francisco, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

non notable building

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Stormbay (talk) 22:20, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

its a goner. i took the redlinks out of Hotel Bristol, Valerie Solanas, and Richard Ramirez. badmachine (talk) 08:06, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

western electric telephones

[edit]

Hi,

I noticed that you are the editor who created the Western Electric model 1500 telephone and Western Electric model 2500 telephone pages on 28 November 2008. Note that these two model telephones are technically members of the Model 500 telephone series. While I am assuming good faith in your edits, I am concerned that adding two articles to Wikipedia about subjects which are closely related to a subject (Model 500 telephone) that already has an article, and that could just as easily be described in that related article, adds extra clutter to the encyclopedia. Remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia; all articles must follow Neutral point of view, Verifiability, and No original research. So I am proposing those two articles to be merged into Model 500 telephone. Please understand that I while I am a telephone geek/collector too, I have a lot of respect for Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Feel free to discuss the proposed merge at Talk:Model 500 telephone. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:Hacked query.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 07:37, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:James niggemeyer cbs.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:James niggemeyer cbs.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 08:05, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please show me where the accent is explained, as I couldn't find it. Besides, I don't think there is anything wrong with mentioning it in the opening paragraph, even as a recap. 87.69.130.159 (talk) 21:39, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

youre absolutely right. i thought it was there, and in fact thought his accent was described as russian. i have undone my removal of your edit. my apologies. badmachine (talk) 00:15, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
NP at all, thanks a lot. On the other hand, I just listened to him again and his accent fits the "Yugoslavian Mountain Hound" story much better, so I fixed it. Sometimes our memory can betray us. 87.69.130.159 (talk) 06:07, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
look through the history and you may find where it was removed. it was sourced and everything... i think it was smigel himself who described the accent as russian babushka but my memory aint what it was. badmachine (talk) 06:25, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Couldn't find it in the history. Nevertheless, check it out now – should be fine. 87.69.130.159 (talk) 07:18, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
like you said 'Sometimes our memory can betray us.' looks like mine did. nice wording in the article btw. badmachine (talk) 07:24, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
10x, glad to help out. 87.69.130.159 (talk) 07:26, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How did you get that, and is it possible to use it with huggle? AndrewrpTally-ho! 15:11, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

presuming you mean the not-so-nice comment left here, that was borne of frustration and wasnt the result of any script, automation or automatic task. in any case, the user was reported and is now blocked. badmachine (talk) 16:36, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Thanks! AndrewrpTally-ho! 16:45, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
sure, sorry i couldnt be more help. badmachine (talk) 16:52, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

positive. i've added another ref to the article to complement the recipe that's already there. --emerson7 13:54, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

addition of 'conflict of interest' tag to Hank Wilson

[edit]

In short, this was the reason why. It seems as though the user in question has a conflict of interest with many of the subjects he has written about. I've added the tag to a few articles that he has edited heavily that relate to the sisters of perpetual indulgence, homosexual organizations based out of San Francisco and the gay DJ/drag scene. It may later turn out he is innocent of the accusations but they've already led to the deletion of two articles and more seem destined. - Schrandit (talk) 06:58, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An article that you have been involved in editing, Michael Prinz von Anhalt, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Prinz von Anhalt. Thank you.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. JBFrenchhorn (talk) 06:59, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Russian_lemon_wikipedia.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Russian_lemon_wikipedia.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 12:12, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
