I don`t want an edit war. Would you mind explaining why friendly matches for a team aren`t official, but if it`s for a national team they are?

As mentioned in the source (https://archive.is/20141025102228/http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/laws/football-11-11/law-3---the-number-of-players), the FIFA recognizes friendlies as official, when they meet certain criteria. If they do not meet these criteria, they are deemed "unofficial" by the FIFA and the result is not counted towards the FIFA-ranking. The criteria for "competitive" games (for example World Cup/European Championship games and their qualifiers) are generally speaking a bit stricter and when the criteria are not met, the game is usually declared a forfeit. The exact reason for this is rather complex and largely based on historical precedent (for the first few decades international matches were always friendlies, competitive international did not occur until the first Olympics/World Cups/Copa Américas) PS: Please don't forget to sign your posts.
