Your list IS valuable

[edit]

The list (Ian McDiarmaid) you created is/was up for deletion. I want you to know there is a place for it: http://wikitistics.com . No one will be able to nominate it for deletion because it fits one simple rule: it's a statistic, list, or figure. Good luck with your endeavors! Joe 17:49, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Person data

[edit]

I saw you removed the person data from Ian McDiarmid. I've noticed this added to articles before and wondered what it was about, especially as it doesn't show up. It seemed pretty pointless. So I just looked it up and found this: Wikipedia:Persondata. From that, I think the information should be repeated: the article is for human consumption, the person data for machine processing. Therefore I think it's best to add the person data back into the article. JRawle (Talk) 18:51, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ian McDiarmid

[edit]

I am glad if I can be of any help. I think the article is a decent introduction to McDiarmid's career. The only aspect missing is his long involvement with the works of playwright Howard Barker. I'll try to find enough data to insert a paragraph.
Writing about McDiarmid isn't exactly easy, since he is very reticent when if comes to information about himself. OeilletRouge 23:53, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:CharlesMSchulz.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CharlesMSchulz.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigDT 05:15, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently working on other projects, but if you want to compile a list of articles that need to be moved or changed in some way, please create a list for me on my talk page and I will make sure all the changes are made. Thanks Dleav 04:02, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. Goosebumps editing is a nightmare, there are so many pages that need massive cleanup. That's why I'm waiting to get to it until after I finish other pages related to R. L. Stine Dleav 04:17, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I'm trying to go through and clean up the individual book articles and would like to know where you got your pictures for the Goosebumps infoboxes so that I can match the appropriate picture to the appropriate articles. I added information(from the books I have) to the existing infoboxes as well as created a few of my own. If you can, please respond back to me on my talk page. Thanks Ravensfan5252 09:01, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why Delete?

[edit]

Be careful about deleting articles because they are "meaningless." The articles you suggested both pass Wikipedia's standards for an article (based on the brief look I had), and keep in mind that while you might be bored with it, someone else might be interested.

Risk AfD

[edit]

Sorry, I should have done more research. Please excuse my behavior. FirefoxMan 00:47, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think Firefoxman was correct. The article as it was failed the a1 criterion for deletion, because it had little or no context. It might also have failed some interpreations of a7.
Baisically, works in progress such as that shouldn't be in the Wikipedia main space. What I can do is retrieve the deleted content and move it into a subpage of your user space for development (e.g. to User:B cubed/List of licensed Risk game boards). You can then develop the article there and move it to the article mainspace when its finished, or when it has enough context (As the List of licensed Monopoly game boards does). --Robdurbar 10:22, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

B^3, is it ok if I start editing User:B cubed/List of licensed Risk game boards? I didn't realize the subpage had been created. It should take long to finish; I think no one knows about it. Dan Slotman 23:19, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know if it is fair use to get the board/box images from the Hasbro product page? It looks like that is what Monopoly did. Dan Slotman 22:16, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Narnia Newsletter March 2007

[edit]
WikiProject Narnia Newsletter
Issue 1 - 2nd March 2007 . Written by User:Sp3000 (talkcontribs)
WikiProject Narnia News
  • The WikiProject has been a little quiet lately. There are still quite a lot of Narnia stubs. It has been nearly three months since we last worked on Minor characters in The Chronicles of Narnia, which still looks very much like a draft page. That would be a nice article to get into the main namespace.
Good and Featured Articles
Other news
  • WikiProject Narnia's first newsletter issue has been published. You're looking at it right now!
Member News
To-do
  1. Add characters and bios to minor character draft page.
  2. Expand Narnia stubs.
  3. Link the first mention of a year in all Narnia-related articles to Narnian timeline.
  4. Rewrite character articles to use the Narnian character example article format.
  5. Adopt an article and improve it to the best of your ability.
  6. Wikify The Chronicles of Narnia article, especially the new lead and Narnian Universe sections
From the founder

I am proud to present our first issue of the WikiProject Narnia Newsletter. I decided that we needed to alert everybody who had expressed interest in the project that there is much work to be done! Please check in every once in a while at the project talk page, and tell other project members what you've been up to in terms of Narnia articles.

Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c ||

Article of the Month: Edmund Pevensie
  • Edmund Pevensie is a major character in The Chronicles of Narnia. He appears as a principal character in three of the seven books. Edmund was the second to enter Narnia, although he tried to betray his siblings to the White Witch. However, Edmund managed to help save Narnia by neutralizing the White Witch's most powerful weapon, her wand.
Collaboration of the Month: Shasta (Narnia)
  • Shasta is currently quite short and not much of his background has been mentioned. The article also lacks images – but make sure if you upload one, you include a FU rationale. Contribute!

Unspecified source for Image:Zahn_t.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zahn_t.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:38, 11 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 21:38, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Zahn_t.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zahn_t.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 21:38, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Risk boards

[edit]

Hi. Right now, the article still needs some work before it can be moved into the namespace. Namely, the table of contents should be transformed into the typical format, the font colors should be removed, and the page needs references. — Deckiller 16:09, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
