Responding to criticism

[edit]

Hello, I saw the little argument you had over your Loser car article. I should tell you that the people who are criticizing your article aren't mad at you because of your age, it's your behavior they're mad at. Look at me, I'm two years younger than you are, and look at all the work I've done and the respect I've earned because of it. When you make baseless arguments like the ones you did or vandalize other pages, people aren't exactly going to be happy with you. If you make constructive edits and respect others, you'll be a respected editor just like I am. Take this as a good word of advice from someone who understands. Thanks. --ApolloBoy 01:08, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the speedy reply to my page, I appreciate it. Anyway, I've kinda looked over the situation again, and I really don't see how JJay is being rude towards you. I think you're being a bit too paranoid about how other people think of you. I highly doubt JJay hates you or anything like that, he's just doing his part to help out Wikipedia, that's all. The reason why he nominated the Loser car article for deletion is because articles that explain the definition of a word go on the Wiktionary, not on Wikipedia. Again, you need to calm down a bit and respect others. Thanks again. --ApolloBoy 05:49, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. JJay is a good member of the community, I don't see why you feel the need to attack him. --ApolloBoy 01:04, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly... ;)

Hi BPRoy, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Articles for Deletion

[edit]

Hi BPRoy,

Thanks for dropping a note at Lucky's page, now let's go through the issue of North Shore, California. Have a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/North Shore, California.

The result of the debate was a speedy keep, which means that your nomination wasn't seem as one with a sufficient good reasoning.

You mentioned that the article didn't fit your description. But hey, that isn't grounds for nominating an article for deletion! =P Instead, why not improve the article yourself, or tag it for someone else to improve it? {{Cleanup-date|{{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}}}} and {{attention}} tags are a few examples you can use to call for improvement/rewrite/cleanup of an article.

Our Wikipedia:Deletion policy has a good list of cases that require deletion, and cases that don't require deletion. Also note that AfDs that are concluded as keep should not be renominated again, and doing so will be seen as bad faith by other users.

Finally, do take some time to familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and happy editing! If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to drop a note on my talkpage. =)

North Shore, CA

[edit]

Hi BPRoy,

That's rather odd. I've hardly heard of having two towns with the same name in the same state. (Or perhaps because I'm living in an urban city in Asia?) I'd appreciate the coordinates/postcode area of these two towns, so as to able to disamb them for you.

No problem, I'm not familiar with Western towns/cities. I'll take a look at it and come up with something later. :) - Mailer Diablo 13:15, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
