Does anyone know if there is a way to use the {{#if}} to hide table cells by default and then add then back with a value.
This is the table I created

I'm looking to use a function to defaultly hide the PLAYOFF header and the columns beneath it when I use the {{#ifeq:{{{playoffs|}}}|yes| <PLAYOFF HEADER> }}}
Any help would be appreciated -- ♣ B2project ♣(Talk) 21:58, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- Impressive code... All what you needed was some {{|}} in your code. Leave me a talkback if you need more help and explain please why the you need such a monster of code ;) mabdul 19:37, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- There is talk to try to generalize the stats section on a NHL team season page and I wanted to try to make a template to use so that you just put in the teams abbreviation and it would automatically format the headers in the team colors. ♣ B2project ♣(Talk) 00:48, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
NHL team rosters
[edit]Please, don't add UFA & RFA to the templates. Those players don't become free-agents until July 1. GoodDay (talk) 15:29, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Adding minor league free agents
[edit]There is no need to add the minor league free agents to the NHL rosters. These players should be listed in the AHL team roster that they played for in the previous year. It is incomplete to list ONLY the free agents in the NHL roster and not all the other dozens of players that are under contract, and that would result in a huge and uninformative roster page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FlameMoth (talk • contribs) 11:54, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Free agents
[edit]I understand the difference between NHL and AHL signings. Although they have NHL contracts, the players you are adding are almost definitely going to remain in the AHL except in the case of emergency callups.
My point is that the pages you are editing are roster pages, not lists of free agents or lists of contracts. I know you referenced a list of free agents, but that doesn't mean that's the information that should be posted on a roster page. It should reflect the roster of players that play for that team. During the summer, there is no official roster because there are no games being played, so we use our best guess based on previous years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FlameMoth (talk • contribs) 22:24, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- I started a discussion here to see what the decision should be. I won't change the revision back until we come to a general consensus. Sorry for the confusion if I am wrong. -♣ B2project ♣ 22:39, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Boston Bruins Regular Season Results
[edit]I don't know what exactly happened, but the color for all of the games in the results section of the 2012-13 Boston Bruins season are now black and most of the text is unreadable, at least on my computer. If you are not already aware of this, could you please look into this? Thank you. 98.179.165.213 (talk) 16:59, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- I think I've fixed the issue. I reverted the coloring of the games back to the old scheme as the games were all highlighted in pitch-black otherwise. However, as I know you are trying to fix the color schemes of the box headers to be uniform, I would like to inform you that the 2007-08 through 2011-12 seasons for the Boston Bruins still have the old header color schemes in their results headers (earlier seasons use an entirely different format). You know your edit design better than I do, so I will leave it to you to fix. 98.179.165.213 (talk) 17:19, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Before you go change the other header boxes around, I understand that the boxes infoboxes at the bottom of the pages needed to be changed to avoid concealing links, but do the season result boxes need to be changed. Could you please let me know? Also, we may want to move this discussion to the 2012-13 Boston Bruins season talk page in case we decide that others should have input on this. 98.179.165.213 (talk) 18:54, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- I didn't think changing the color code to three digit colors would've made them black on some browsers. That's weird, maybe I forgot a # sign. I understand that other seasons may be different but I was looking for uniformity between teams this season. I absolutely hate sometimes looking at team season pages that look completely different than another when in my mind they should all be the same format. The reason for uniformity was the only reason I changed it back. B2Project(Talk) 00:00, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- I understand your point of view here. I personally preferred the old look for Bruins result table headers, the new ones are quite dull in my opinion, but I can see why there would also be a desire for uniformnity. As before, I understand that the guideboxes at the bottom of the page need to be a certain way but I think that coloring the headers of the results and statboxes gives a little flavor of the team to the page. Additionally, if we are truly looking for uniformnity, the content in each results box for every team should be edited to look the same way. Every team uses a different results box format and it is annoying to compare teams from the same season at times. Please let me know what you think of this. 98.179.165.213 (talk) 02:04, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

I put the Bruins back to what it was, or a version similar to it. I have been working on a request for the WikiProject to try to update their standards for formatting but it falls on deaf ears. B2Project(Talk) 05:11, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
Game log
[edit]Hi, I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to explain some of the changes made to this game log. I understand that the color changes were made to match the templates, but why was the game log format changed? Is this meant to be some sort of new WT:Hockey consensus that was reached? And, if so, why has it not been implemented on other game logs? (Although I realize my saying that could be detrimental to my own cause as I prefer the old format.) Please advise. –RedSoxFan274 (talk~contribs) 05:21, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- Changed the content back, sorry to have possibly upset you or anyone else who may edit that page. The main goal of my change was to change them to NAV head and frames as they look cleaner than the alternative and to change the content tables to wikitables to restore the gridlines making it easier to read for some. Like I said I changed the content back and I apologize again. B2Project(Talk) 06:08, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. Firstly, I read your previous post when someone questioned you on the Bruins page and I agree that there should be uniformity amongst all the game logs, however, I also believe that we, the editors, should all come to an agreement on a uniform format instead of having one automatically instituted without being asked for our opinions. EDIT: And, although most game logs do not have them, I do like having the goalie win and loss columns on the ones I work on (which are only two of them) because I think they add a lot of information to them. –RedSoxFan274 (talk~contribs) 06:31, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
I was digging around the other templates from the MLB and NFL and found out they have a template for game logs so I tested one out and came up with a rough draft to try to take to WP:HOCKEY. Would you mind looking at it if you and give me any feedback so maybe we can try to get a format generated using a template to ensure it stays uniform?
Try them out and see if there is anything to that doesn't work. B2Project(Talk) 07:08, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- I think it looks pretty good. Just a few things. I think we should add decision (goaltender for team with win or loss) to the log. I do not think adding both the winning and losing goaltender to the log is necessary, and that often causes the text to wrap. Additionally, I question whether or not time is necessary. Also, I think we should add a column for stating if a game was decided in overtime of a shootout. Finally, what is the planned color format for the headers? Should we keep that as is? 98.179.165.213 (talk) 16:58, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- Just to let you know I (98.179.165.312) now have a wikipedia account. Hydra88 (talk) 18:28, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I'm wondering why you decided to move away from the colour red to purple for losses in the game log. Did anyone approve this change? It's always been red and should remain as such. Purple is way too busy on the eye. Please refrain from using that colour moving forward. gmmtl 23:40, 12 February 2013
Joensuu, Strait & Ullstrom
[edit]These three players are on Injured Reserve. The last game's line up. As you know, only 20 players & 3 scratches are allow (23-man roster and all) and those three do not appear on the game roster. The Isles website is not a reliable source for listing captains & alternates nor players on injured reserve. [1] Tim Thomas is on the suspended list, so I do not know how that applies to WP. Raul17 (talk) 22:43, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Your recent edit to Ron Duguay, while it improved the formatting of the stats table, also removed data, specifically the playoff stats when he played for Sudbury. You didn't use an edit summary, so not sure what you're using for a source, but looking at his NHL.com profile you'll see the stats. Echoedmyron (talk) 12:31, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- The source I used was hockeydb. I readded them from the nhl source though. Weird that hockeydb missed that. Sorry, thanks for the catch. -B2Project(Talk) 22:04, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

2012-13 and 2013-14 Pens Seasons
[edit]Just a quick note on a couple things. 1) I like how you added Bylsma to an "Other" section for last year. 2) I re-added the note regarding picks 44 and 50 and 89 because there were 2 trades that took place there, not just one. Feel free to change formatting, etc of the text or the reference, but I don't think it should say that Kennedy or his rights went to CBJ. --After Midnight 0001 10:43, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Free Agents Lost
[edit]Hi, about Reese, Ph. Dupuis and Kolarik, ok they had sign for Europe/KHL in June, but tecnically they are lost for the 2013-14 season, not the 2012-13. Otherwise it's seem that they had acquire and lost an FA in the same season. Best Regards. Giskard (talk) 14:18, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
MLB standings templates
[edit]I noticed that you created Template:1994 NL Wild Card standings using Template:MLB standings. In the discussion we had regarding the creation of Template:MLB standings, we had agreed there wasn't much point in changing the standings for previous years, and so I only implemented support for the current wild-card format. Thus using this template for seasons prior to 2012 yields inaccurate wild-card standings. Is there a specific reason why you are using the template for earlier seasons? isaacl (talk) 04:24, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Was going through the Pirates losing seasons and saw it was missing. No big deal, kinda figured it out when I was there was no other ones created. Were they created and deleted or never used? If you or someone can delete them I'd appreciate it. –B2Project(Talk) 04:27, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know the history, but since you introduced the new template, I suggest you could use the subst: syntax to include the output of Template:MLB standings for the wild-card standings table within Template:1994 NL Wild Card standings — that is, use {{subst:Template:MLB standings}} — and then modify the table to have the correct games behind info and header row. isaacl (talk) 04:41, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- I made them physical tables because i've never done what you were asking and I was confused, if you can explain it more I'd like to learn. –B2Project(Talk) 05:26, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- If you put subst: in front of the template name, then instead of including the contents of the template on the fly, the WikiMedia software will pull in the contents as they appear at the moment when you save the page. Thus in this case the underlying wiki tables would be included in the page, and then you could make further edits to them. isaacl (talk) 13:51, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to 2013–14 Pittsburgh Penguins season may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. NHL team's season page formatting
[edit]There is currently a discussion going on WP:ICEHOCKEY about the current (or now former) transactions format on the pages. Seeing as how you created possibly the best example so far back in 2013 for the Penguins, I would like to hear your input on a potential new format I am proposing similar to what you created back in 2013. It would maintain the format as is used in the free agency acquisitions and departures however it would include all acquisitions and departures (omitting trades) while simply adding another row specifying the action in which they joined or left the team. I would also like to change the contract details to specify the average annual value of the contract other than the total salary of the contract which is not relative to the annual average value do to bonuses and other details. I will be implementing my proposed design on the 2018-19 Columbus Blue Jackets season page and will notify you when I have completed to gather your thoughts. Thank you.
