2021 ideas

[edit]

@FGTC coordinators: Testing this template out to see if this works. Want to also add that bring some things up. First being to reminds the delegates that if they see a consensus made on a nomination they should wrap it up and process the nomination with the reached outcome. Second, if anyone has any questions or ideas about what to should be done with the project in this new year, let me know. GamerPro64 23:54, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The ping is working fine for me! I had copied the code in the equivalent FAC ping template. I can promote "The Office (American season 3)" later tonight and will have a look at the others. On improvements, I have quite a few ideas: 1) I discussed this with Sturmvogel (you must have missed the ping Gamer) and he agreed that it would make sense to move Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates to Wikipedia:Featured and good topic candidates, would you agree Gamer? 2) I also plan to (and you guys are welcome to assist too of course) badger some people for FT blurbs so that more topics have them; a lot of the older ones seem to be lacking them.
I forgot about that discussion. Wondering if would be a controversial decision without consulting others. Changing the names of a Featured Content section might need more than just the delegates agreeing on the name change to happen. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. Good point, was wondering this as well. I may as well set up a formal RM for "due process" purposes. Although I doubt it will recieve any opposition. Will do so later. Aza24 (talk) 02:54, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In general I feel that featured topics could do with more site wide-recognition, as such I'm tempted to write something about FT/GTs akin to User:SandyGeorgia/Achieving excellence through featured content... though I think the best solution may be to resume Wikipedia:Featured topics/Main Page appearances. Though I don't know where we'd go to resume such a process (proposals perhaps), I imagine we could getting away with doing a couple a month and it wouldn't be too many or too few. Aza24 (talk) 02:21, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am all for that. Maybe we should also try to get a piece published on the Signpost to talk about the project. Some kind of idea. GamerPro64 02:38, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, good idea! Aza24 (talk) 02:54, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I got it, was mostly offline yesterday. We've increased the points for GTs and FTs in the WP:WikiCup this year, so maybe we'll get more traffic with new nominators and perhaps, even, reviewers. But I would like to see something increasing our visibility on the main page. Perhaps a GT/FT of the week or some such?--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 17:06, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria

Some pings

[edit]

Hi @MaranoFan and @Gog the Mild, I should have pointed you to towards this page earlier, but if we need to discuss on Wiki, here makes sense. I'm yet to respond to Gog's email.

There's also a link to both the promotion and demotion instructions if needed. Aza24 (talk) 01:33, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pending demotion tasks

[edit]

@Aza24 and Gog the Mild: I finished demoting many topics today. The talk pages of individual articles in Battles of the Greco-Persian Wars, EFL Championship play-offs, EFL League One play-offs, EFL League Two play-offs, Australian cricket team in England in 1948, and Current Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre championships are yet to be updated. These are huge topics, and this is very taxing work due to the process currently not being automated. I hope you guys will agree that splitting the work three-ways would be fair. Cheers, NØ 19:58, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just an FYI that I don't think pings work if you refactor an existing comment, only if you add a new one. –Novem Linguae (talk) 20:00, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Novem. @Aza24 and Gog the Mild: NØ 20:01, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds totally fair. I'll take a go at some of them this Saturday. Unable to do much before than unforunately. Aza24 (talk) 22:48, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MaranoFan, had some time today so just went ahead and updated all of them. Just double-checking: did you get around to update the total ft/gt count when you did the initial steps? Aza24 (talk) 03:27, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I updated the total FT/GT count. Thanks a lot for the help with this!--NØ 08:23, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Moving the proposals forward

[edit]

Hi MaranoFan and Gog the Mild (also Marano, please see my query just above here)! The backlog is essentially cleared thanks to some tremendous teamwork. Apologies if my contribution was on the smaller side at first, but hopefully updating the 100+ articles above evens that out :)

I'm going to set aside some time on Wednesday to draft a brief proposal, which I don't expect will be met with any opposition, for some FGTC reforms. I'm thinking we could start with numbers 1–3 at User:Aza24/Sandbox7. Does this seem like a reasonable plan? Are there any other items we should have in this first batch of reforms? Aza24 (talk) 04:02, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a good plan to me.--NØ 08:23, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MaranoFan, Gog the Mild and Novem Linguae, sorry for the delay. See User:Aza24/Sandbox7#Proposal Draft. How does it sound? Aza24 (talk) 02:51, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I imagine you are already rather busy, and given that the proposal was essentially agreed upon before (and likely uncontroversial), I'm going to go ahead with it. Aza24 (talk) 23:24, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
