Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Pacific Motorway (Brisbane–Brunswick Heads) have been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 23:09, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Marcnut1996. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, OTR (convenience store), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Additionally, make sure the content you added is non-trivial; there is no need to list every store that opened other than the first of a state. Marcnut1996 (talk) 09:15, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

If you had noticed, I had reverted a number of your past edits as they are trivial AND uncited. The only reasonable addition you had was the statement about the "acceptance of Shell cards", which you added today. However, you only added the sentence without adding the citation yourself, and I had to do the dirty work for you by finding the source. Next time, please learn how to add citations whenever you add information to articles. Marcnut1996 (talk) 22:49, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will. Awilt17 (talk) 00:02, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added more citation to this site. Now in references section. I filled that missing part because you forgot that part. Awilt17 (talk) 00:09, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are doing it the wrong way. You are supposed to use this format, see this revision. I have made a typo on my part but your way of fixing is wrong. Marcnut1996 (talk) 00:28, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For beginners, you need to use the <ref>...</ref> and place the url in it. It will be much preferred if you use the Template:cite web rather than just the bare url. Marcnut1996 (talk) 00:32, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had just realised you are using Visual Editor instead of Source Editor. At the top of the Visual Editor, there should be a Cite button that allows you to add citations. Marcnut1996 (talk) 00:40, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I always use visual editor, source editor makes no sense. Awilt17 (talk) 21:17, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In any case, you MUST NOT add any citations into the "References" section. They must be added at the end of the sentence.
Also one thing to note, is that whenever you add sentences, you must have a space after the citation of the previous sentence. See this for example. Marcnut1996 (talk) 00:44, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One of your past edit descriptions is old now. I’ve been seeing more Shell OTR’s than you think. I think you went to Adelaide some months back before the rebranding even started. I rely on photos from others. Awilt17 (talk) 21:12, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was in Adelaide in early November, not even a month ago. Marcnut1996 (talk) 01:13, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’ll show you some photos I have acquired over the last week. Awilt17 (talk) 20:46, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

I appreciate your edits, but please change your attitude that you are doing the dirty work for everyone. Not everyone knew of the new information you just put in. The Wikipedia is built by everyone including yourself so don't treat yourself like a saviour on Wikipedia. Please write better edit summaries, such as what you added etc, and not complain that you are doing dirty work.

Also you need to improve on how you write in articles. Have a read on WP:MOS. Marcnut1996 (talk) 05:32, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You mean “Wikipedia:Manual of Style”. You don’t need to shorten the name, when I entered the link, it redirected me. I’ve been trying to fix this redirection issue for a while now. Awilt17 (talk) 21:16, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no need to fix redirection, it is not an issue and it is an intended function of Wikipedia. Read WP:R#CRD. Marcnut1996 (talk) 01:10, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
