Petition for unblock: I think blocking the magazine Wine & Country and deleting appropriate links - like the link that was on the media page of Charlottesville, the city it covers, punishes someone else rather than me. I no longer work there but I feel badly that my ignorance created this situation and I would really like this to be resolved. I have no intention of editing Wikipedia again - I'm entirely too nervous now which I'm sure is just as well! It is a great resource. Awaters4282 (talk) 01:35, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright

Hello Awaters4282, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Barboursville Vineyards have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please do not go around adding marginally relevant links into articles. Wikipedia is not for advertising or promotion, and only uses external links in certain cases where they are especially relevant and appropriately separated from the rest of the article. Request reason:

I'm sorry - we are on the properties of these wineries and historic sites every week and creating original content (words and a wealth of photography) for the magazine. We know the people involved in the vineyards, etc. I honestly thought that what I added was useful to someone interested and the links handy for learn more. It certainly isn't helpful for SEO or advertising as it is a do not follow sort of link - I simply thought readers would want to see it and since we did all that work, I want to share! I see now that you disagree and I certainly concede to your far more extensive experience but I think to blacklist the magazine would be to disallow a truly useful resource representing the region. {{ I did read over that, it is good to know. as this is my area of expertise this is probably what I'd be able to do best - though I cook, farm and parent every day so maybe there are other areas I know stuff about;-)! this is just such a new industry in va there isn't that much documentation yet. I am not being paid to place entries on wiki but it seems like if I want to make edits or suggest a link the best course would be to just put a note in talk and let someone else decide. Would that be acceptable? Thanks!
