  • We can skip all that. I'm willing to drop it as it seems like a few small misunderstandings is all we've got here. I hope this doesn't sour either of you on editing Wikipedia. You would be surprised the strange things some people have in mind when they come by Wikipedia, so it sometimes hard to distinguish a small mistake, or a causal relationship from a common deceptive practice, even when, as in the case, there is no clear motivation for it. I have to tell you that the page probably will be deleted, as it does not serve a purpose related to Wikipedia, but there are lots of other websites will let you host clubs or groups of this nature, but ultimately it will be up to an administrator to close the debate and determine the proper course of action. Good luck Beeblebrox (talk) 05:30, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Use of flag icons

[edit]

As has been already mentioned earlier here by BlackJack, the "excessive use of flag icons causes download problems for users, especially those with dial-up connections." Furthermore "[f]lags emphasise nationality and this distorts the information we are trying to provide. For example, we are telling the reader that Sachin Tendulkar is an Indian batsman, not that he is an INDIAN batsman." Please try to keep that in mind for further edits.

Club colours on A-League 2009–10‎

[edit]

Hi, your first edit on A-League 2009–10‎ appeared to be okay, but the next one where you placed an image of each club's colours next to the name in each fixture is completely unnecessary. It increases the page loading time significantly, and is a bit of an eyesore in my opinion. It's not done like that on any other A-League season articles or anywhere else, and I'm sure if you took it to the Wikiproject it will be decided very quickly that they should be removed. I have not reverted your edit yet, but thought I'd notify you first so as not to get involved in an edit war. Please reply here. Thanks, timsdad (talk) 06:11, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Timsad, My understanding is that page load times will not be affected by multiple instances of the same image. If this is incorrect I would be happy for you to show me the evidence. I placed the flags on the page as I personally find it easier to view information visually instead of textually. This follows the protocol governed by all International Football matches as well as many other sports. Avimonster (talk) 00:37, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you're that passionate about having these images on one A-League article, they should be on all. Rather than going and doing this, however, I stronly feel you should take this to the Wikiproject and get some more opinions on it. --timsdad (talk) 00:49, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So out of interest do you have evidence that multiple instances of the same image actually slow down page load times? Avimonster (talk) 05:39, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, I do not. I just assumed... it seemed like the best argument at the time. That's no longer my point though, my point is that from what I've found, no other association football season articles use team colours (A-League, English Premier League, etc.) and they never have. If you feel we need to begin to use them, for whatever reason, it needs to be discussed at the Wikiproject so we can create consistency throughout articles. --timsdad (talk) 05:43, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No stress, i do like the flags, but am not fanatical about it. I think they make more sense for international flags and other sporting competitions where the flags are better designed and instantly indicate which teams are playing. Avimonster (talk) 05:50, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you there. These icons are just squares with vertical stripes of each teams' colours (they're not the most aesthetically pleasing icons). Thanks, timsdad (talk) 05:58, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ICC T20 World cup

[edit]

Hi, your edit on ICC T20 WC was not edited by me. Its clear that who will be 1 and 2 is most groups. Thats the reason why the Super Eight tables where filled. In the case of Group D. It is not important who finishes on top, NZ will always be D1 n SA D2. The seedings will be carried over to the next round. Thats the reason why Eng will be B2 even if it finishes on Top Thanks, Chockalinga Ayyappan (talk) 06:16, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2013–14 Big Bash League season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ben Laughlin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
