Cancer Bats

[edit]

The article Cancer Bats has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a person or group of persons but it does not indicate how or why that person or group is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. Postdlf 01:12, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS, please also read WP:MUSIC, our guidelines for articles about musicians and bands. Postdlf 01:12, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, don't repost "Cancer Bats" "unless you can indicate why the subject is really notable." Starting the article with such phrases as "Cancer Bats have come to destroy" doesn't help us take it any more seriously. Postdlf 01:15, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cool down a bit

[edit]

My advice to you is to cool down a bit over Cancer Bats. DON'T remove the tag yourself, (that doesn't remove the article from the AfD process) just let the proces go on as planned (7 days). Also it may be a good idea to remove your last post at the AfD... Dan, the CowMan 04:14, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reposting deleted pages

Cancer Bats

Now that you won the deletion review, don't forget to vote at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cancer Bats (second nomination). Postdlf 02:53, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's standard, btw, for an article that gets undeleted to get first relisted on AFD...just process playing out, no one new decided it was delete-worthy. Postdlf 02:56, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've been a huge help. I really love this band and I felt this was a great way to show my support. It looks as though all my effort in this has finally paid off, thanks again, Avenged Evanfold 02:58, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Escape The Fate

[edit]

1. Using language like that on a userpage is likely to get you banned by another admin. I'll let someone else decide that though. 2. Escape The Fate are not notable. They have a myspace. That doesn't make them notable. 3. WP:ISNOT 4. If there is a possible article that would meet the generally agreed standards, then write it offline so that it all 'arrives' on Wikipedia in one piece. Someone else flagged the artticle for deletion on the grounds the article didn't show notability. The fact you like them isn't enough. --AlisonW 21:30, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be missing the point here. WP is *not* the place you develop an article. Just as you wouldn't write and send an email ten words at a time, you write it offline/in one piece, and then send it off. Here, new articles - and tagged articles - need to have something in them that justifies their continued existence from the start. Yes, of course they will hopefully improve as time goes on, but readers who know nothing about the subject of an article deserve to be informed, not have to make guesses about what is going on. "Speedy" means exactly that, and there will usually be a number of editors watching the page, and reviewing for themselves what other people have tagged, and often they will concurr with the person who added the tag, sometimes they won't (and tonight I haven't always agreed with the tags I've found). As to the band, MySpace may be used by lots of people (including, as it happens, me) but that doesn't make them "notable". When they *are* notable they will be very welcome! --AlisonW 21:52, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any more rudeness like that and I really might take action. If you would look carefully at my comments, 'Smartpunk' and MySpace does not make them "notable" to the world at large. Wikipedia has readers all around the world and of all ages, and we seek to serve them good, valid, meaningful comment that is of a neutral point of view; that imforms not advertises. Your band does not meet those criteria. --AlisonW 21:56, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You were warned not to be incivil, more than once. You were offered help by me in working within the system, here and on the article talk page. Please pay attention to the advice you were offered on how to contest the deletion, or how to create an article in your user space that is notable (maybe this band is notable, and you just haven't establised how.. see WP:MUSIC). Stop being incivil or you will be blocked. Last warning. ++Lar: t/c 22:02, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For your own reference, I have placed the text you put on that article page at /Fate. As Lar has suggested, work on improving it there is a great next step. --AlisonW 22:22, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I will improve it with more proof of their notability. Avenged Evanfold 23:40, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably true, but the AfD runs for five days anyway -- its earliest closure should be 17 June. Best wishes, Xoloz 17:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Eulogy Recordings, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on The Warriors (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

File permission problem with File:Thespore.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Thespore.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:56, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Eulogy Recordings has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable label, few to no notable acts.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
