License tagging for Image:Bsc clubhouse2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bsc clubhouse2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot 11:05, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Burghfield Yacht Club

[edit]

Thanks for your note, and thanks also for not having hurt feelings; it makes it much more likely that I'll bend over backwards to help. At your request, I will restore the page to a "sandbox" page that I'll create for you that can be found at User:Avantgardaclue/Sandbox. Sandbox pages are where you can work on the article without fear of having someone speedy-delete it (although if it lasts, say, 30 days, someone might try). I agree, the article would be better off with sources as you have mentioned, although I'm not sure that the Volvo Sponsorship is worth mentioning. What will work best to demonstrate notability, I believe, is if you can assert and prove that the club's members have competed at the highest levels of international sport. You might be able to find useful hints about notability by reading through material to be found at WP:Notable -- if there is a specific area about determining the notability of athletes, that may be useful to you too. I cannot guarantee that your article will be notable within the Wikipedia definition of that word even after you add the citations, but it will certainly be closer. If there is something I can do to help you, just leave a note on my talk page and I'll be happy to provide advice or direct you to policy pages to the best of my ability. This sentence -- "Members have been extremely successful nationally and internationally and two members have been Champion of Champions winning the Endeavour Trophy." -- is the one upon which I recommend you focus. It needs to be quite plain exactly what the Endeavour Trophy is and who awards it -- and providing a link to those things would be an excellent idea (because of this policy). Essentially, notability will be best demonstrated by proving participation at the highest levels of international sport. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:30, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your note. It seems as though you have demonstrated participation at the highest levels of international sport, and I don't think this article will be nominated for speedy deletion (at least, not by someone that reads it through carefully). I might suggest taking out the bit about the club's facilities and adding that link to the exterior sites section; that's the level of detail that someone would find out from the website, not the encyclopedia, I suggest. Other than that, you've done a good job of citing your references. I would recommend you put this page back in soon (I won't be on the site for very many more minutes, though, so if you want me to keep an eye on it in its initial minutes, wait a day or so). Congratulations on all you've learned and thanks for working within Wikipedia's boundaries. Accounting4Taste:talk 14:22, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Bscburgee.png or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
