Placentophagy

[edit]

Hi. If you can find a good reference for placentophagy as cannibalism , then by all means add it back. As for the pregnancy category, it looks like User:Fplay restricted the category to human pregnancy on at 03:02, on 17 December 2005, but I don't know the circumstances of that change. The current article doesn't seem to have much to do with human pregnancy, but I think you could make an argument for adding Category:Childbirth. Perhaps it would be better to add Category:Animal behaviour or Category:Ethology instead? —Viriditas | Talk 08:05, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cannabis allergy

[edit]

Hi, again. Your user page made a passing reference to your allergy, which I am only familiar with anecdotally. If you have more information on the subject, would you be interested in adding data to cannabis (drug), or recommend where I can find more information? Thanks. —Viriditas | Talk 01:47, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to impart some knowledge of how cannabis allergy works, but I really don't have any idea. When I've had allergic reactions to it, the effects were the same, but they could be totally different with other people, and I've never heard from anyone else who has admitted to being allergic, so I can't compare reaction effects. The best I could do would be to add anecdotal reports from my own experiences, which is obviously a no-go. I'll see what I can find, though. Avalyn 08:58, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it's a very interesting subject. Out of curiousity, what would happen if you smoked/ingested it? Do you get a reaction from smelling or touching it? Another question: are you allergic to any other plants, such as sage? —Viriditas | Talk 09:28, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I would react negatively to it only if I had a lot, like a whole bowl (I never bothered with joints; just bongs). My heart rate would increase to 160-190 BPM, I'd lose feeling in my arms and legs, and I'd have a lot of trouble breathing. It landed me in the emergency room once, and they did tests (which ones I don't recall because I'd been sedated), but they gave the results to my parents and I never saw them. Second-hand pot smoke doesn't really affect me unless there's lot of it in a small crowded room, in which case the aforementioned symptoms start up again, but subside a while after I get away from the smoke. I'm not sure about touching it as I haven't even seen any (any that hasn't been prepared for smoking, anyway; i.e., not "raw") in over 10 years. The only other plants I'm allergic to are plants that pollenate, and even then it's just the pollen allergens that affect me. Avalyn 10:17, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, this is starting to make sense, now. It sounds to me like a cannabis sensitivity, although I'm wondering if you had come across something else altogether. There was a story in the January 27, 2006 issue of The Province about pot-laced crystal meth, and I've heard other stories about pot-laced PCP; I'm certain the former is true, but the latter seems to be either rare or the stuff of urban legends. I'm glad you're ok, though. Thanks for sharing that info. —Viriditas | Talk 11:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking the same thing. :) Pot laced with crystal meth does this in most people. I have also heard of pot laced with PCP, I know someone who has supposedly tried it.SZadeh 03:59, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. It's a long story, really. A struggle with gender identity, which doesn't really have a place here. And yes, I was kind of partly a girl before (but I was born a boy) because for a while I was undergoing hormone replacement therapy. Why I stopped is an even longer story. Hi,

New category is OK, but it seams to me that we have some redundancy. Do you plan to put there just a biographies (in that case, it belongs to Category:Fascists, not Category:Fascism) or also some other articles?

Because, I see possible redundancy regarding the fact that we already have Category: Independent State of Croatia.

So, what is your plan regarding this category?

Hm, I guess you're right. I'll move what I added to Category:Ustaše to Category: Independent State of Croatia. Avalyn 08:46, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:TomasVokoun.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. Bermuda Triangle page

Just to let you know, and it's extremely minor, when ever a book, magazine, or film is mentioned, the title is always placed in italics; any article within such a work and mentioned in a paragraph is placed in quotation marks, which is a standard method of writing found in a Harbrace manual that a lot of college kids are forced to use. Just don't worry too much about the changes you made or my feelings (which are not hurt, by the way!), I'm very appreciative of any help, including your's, to make it look and read a lot better. Hi, the image use policy is really complicated and a lot of people don't understand it. The problem with this image was that it was tagged "for Wikipedia use only". Ironically, permission to use an image on Wikipedia is not sufficient for use on Wikipedia. Only images that can be reused by others are allowed (aside from images that satisfy the non-free content policy, but images of living people almost never do). Your best bet for images like this would be to follow the instructions at WP:COPYREQ for obtaining and confirming the proper permissions. Logical quotations

[edit]

Hello, Avalyn, I saw your recent edit to The Big Lebowski and wanted to alert you that some of your "corrections" to the punctuation may in fact have been incorrect -- at least as far as Wikipedia goes. We adhere to what is called logical quotation, which means that punctuation marks go inside the quotation marks only if the punctuation mark is part of the quotation. You can read WP:PUNC for more info. It's a headache, I know, and it took a while for me to get used to it, but I assure you that the original punctuation style in the article was correct. From your userpage you seem like a cool guy, so I am hereby bestowing upon you the "I like you, cuz you're a cool guy" award. Use it as you see fit. I don't have a picture to go along with it so here's this poem by Aleister Crowley I thought you might like instead:User:Game'o Whales (talk) 07:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am that I am, the flame
Hidden in the sacred ark.
I am the unspoken name,
I the unbegotten spark.

I am He that ever goeth,
Being myself in the way;
Known, that yet no mortal knoweth,
Shown that yet no mortal showeth,
I, the child of night and day.
I am never dying youth.
I am love and I am Truth.

I am the creating of Word,
I the author of the aeon;
None but I have ever heard
Echo in the empyrean
Plectron of the primal paeon!
I am the eternal one
Winged and white, the flowering rod,
I the fountain of the sun,
Very God of Very God!

I am he that lifteth up
Life, and flingeth it afar;
I have filled the crystal cup;
I have sealed the silver star.
I the wingless God that flieth
Through my firmamental flame,
I am he that daily dieth,
And is daily born again.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Avalyn! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
