I removed the Thomas Edison paragraph from Lithium ion battery#History because I was unable to find any supporting sources. See Talk:Lithium ion battery#Invented by Thomas Edison?Ryanrs 15:02, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:Canada-ontario Martyrs-shrine MSf.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Canada-ontario Martyrs-shrine MSf.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 03:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Catching the Light-pic

[edit]

Actually, I was disappointed when the photo of Martyrs' Shrine was removed. You have my permission to use the photo for the page on the Shrine.

If you check my blog, http://lukeallen.blogspot.com/ , you'll see that I've changed the CC license for the page. Hope this does the trick. 98.193.67.102 (talk) 23:28, 31 August 2009 (UTC) Luke 209.83.11.184 (talk) 03:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Luke Allen[reply]

Thanks Luke

[edit]

I've contacted the deleters of the image. Hopefully, it will be restored soon. I'm not sure why they wanted it speedily deleted, as you had given your express permission to use it, it had the appropriate CC license, and attribution (including your original caption) was noted...

I'm aware that permission has been given; however, Wikipedia requires that the image be released under a free license. See WP:IUP for further details, and WP:ICT/FL for a list of accepted licenses. Stifle (talk) 07:49, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The image was tagged with permission only for noncommercial purposes; Wikipedia requires that all images be available for commercial purposes. Nyttend (talk) 13:57, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:35, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not keep adding DiffMerge to this article. The article was deleted in August 2011 as not being notable. There is a note at the top of the page when you edit to explain that any additions should have a page on Wikipedia. If you feel that DiffMerge is notable enough to have a page you may create one but please ensure you include sufficient references to demonstrate notability. Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Charles Lallemant letter-jesuits04jesuuoft.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
