- Hi! Thanks for the welcome! I've edited sporadically over the past few decades, but I decided to make an account because I want to create an article. AustralianSepticPolicyInstitute (talk) 00:42, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- An account is very useful to have! You can set your own preferences, receive user groups in order to help out with restricted functions, and you can, after enough edits, edit protected pages! Again, hope you like it here! Justarandomamerican (talk) If you're here to build a encyclopedia, have a nice day doing so! 00:56, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- So far I'd say so good. Still optimistic, but it turns out my username didn't adhere to the naming rules. I'm not quite following what you mean about user groups and restricted functions. Is there more detail on that? AustralianSepticPolicyInstitute (talk) 06:33, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

[edit]It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.- To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
- If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here:
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
.
- Hi Kinu,
- It was not my intention to name this after a real organisation. There is no organisation by this name, but I take your point. I'll try to think of another username. Thank you for explaining this for me. AustralianSepticPolicyInstitute (talk) 03:40, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hi again Kinu, I had a read through the policy document on usernames, and if I'm not wrong, it seems to imply that only names which refer unambiguously to (my interpretation; real) organisations are disallowed. I completely understand that it might sound like my username is the name of a real institute, but it's actually a harmless joke about a bit of Australian slang. If it's still not seen as appropriate to use this name, I'm happy to come up with a new one, but I don't want to use my real name, and I'm a little attached to this one, because it's one of the only ones I've used elsewhere where I never shared personal details. Please let me know what you think! AustralianSepticPolicyInstitute (talk) 03:51, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You don't have to use your real name. The problem is that the policy is against usernames that "give the impression" of representing a group, club, organization, etc. You could, for example, call yourself "AustralianSepticPolicyInstituteFan" or "SomeGuyAtAustralianSeptic..." It's annoying, but there's a strong sentiment here in favor of accounts representing individuals, not organizations. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 04:07, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Understood! I thought that might be why I got a ban. Renaming it is! I'll try to come up with something fun. But I think so far fan is the winner. Ha, this is reallly frustrating. I just saw another thing to edit.
