Same titles, different meanings

To distinguish between pages that would otherwise have the exact same title, disambiguation is needed. Unless one meaning clearly dominates, the article should be replaced with a disambiguation page, e.g. Pan, which links to the different meanings with a qualifier in parentheses, e.g. Pan (mythology) vs. Pan (moon), or using a more specific natural name, e.g. cooking pan. If there is one dominant meaning, (cat), add a link to a disambiguation page‍—‌cat (disambiguation)‍—‌or to the secondary meaning if there is only one, on top of the article.

Cricketers

[edit]

Hi. Please do not create articles for cricketers that have not played a first-class, List A or T20 match, per WP:NCRIC. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:52, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. For individuals who have not played a match, they'd fail the notability requirements and can/will end up being deleted, so it wastes a lot ot people's time. Please also have a look at the cricket project on here too. Thanks again. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:35, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, for the sake of seven days, probably not, and it should be fine. As long as he doesn't do a Glenn McGrath and trip on a ball prior to the match and miss a load of games! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:41, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Biographies

[edit]

Hi. Please don't add opinion such as "He is widely regarded as a big-hitter full of potential and talent." This isn't encyclopedic. Also, everything you add must be sourced. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:51, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited New South Wales cricket team, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Henry Thornton and Ryan Gibson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Starc!

[edit]

Morning (in the UK at least). I have to say, when I saw your edit, I thought you'd just made an error and posted about his hat-trick in the first innings! Good work on adding the details of the second hat-trick. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:13, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Haha thanks Lugnuts, I watched the match and he was just so good! Hopefully scaring England for the Ashes (on my end at least)!

Article Name

[edit]

Hey mate, I notice you do a lot of edits on cricket articles and just recently I tried to request a name change for the cricketer :Cameron Wheatley: to :Cam Wheatley: without success. I noticed you created the cricketer :Thomas Rogers: and have his page name as :Tom Rogers:. Are you able to change the article name for Cameron Wheatley to Cam Wheatley? The page isn’t searchable under Cam Wheatley on google and a lot of other cricketers have there shortened name for the heading. Thanks for your help 👍 Auscricket90 (talk) 04:59, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks mate, It’s just not recognizing the name Cam Wheatley on google search engines. But other cricketers like Cam Stevenson shows up which is strange. If you can create a template or a redirect so that google shows the Wikipedia page, that would be awesome 👍 Kind regards Auscricket90 (talk) 12:54, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It’s all fixed now! Best regards 👍 Auscricket90 (talk) 22:08, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Mackenzie Harvey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NCRIC. Has not yet played in a FC, LA or T20 match.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Australia national cricket team, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Medium (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Question about using cricket archive for stats instead of cricinfo

[edit]

As the subject suggests I wanted to know the exact reason behind using cricketarchive. It is currently behind paywall and a problem for people trying to access the stats. Cricinfo provides the same stats for any player that has played FC, ListA or T20 cricket at the First class level. It is also available for everyone to see. I am new to all this and you seem to be one of the active contributors towards cricket pages so I wanted to ask you about this.

Thanks for all the great work.

Cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruppanbabu (talkcontribs) 01:46, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I asked for this to be reversed, as it is a contested page move. There was a WP:RM#CM discussion back in 2017 over the same point, which was rejected / declined, so any subsequent page move needs to go through a similar process Spike 'em (talk) 09:01, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
