Comics

[edit]

Please try negotiating with User:Snowspinner. Fred Bauder 16:40, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify... Snowspinner = Phil Sandifer. Fred is suggesting you try to work it out with Snowspinner first. See dispute resolution for suggestions on that and further steps which can be taken if it doesn't work. --CBD 23:58, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

tahnks cbd the preceding unsigned comment is by Atomiceo (talk • contribs)

If you haven't already left in disgust, I point you to a relevant section of the reliable sources document: "An opinion is a view that someone holds, the content of which may or may not be verifiable. However, that a certain person or group holds a certain opinion is a fact, and it may be included in Wikipedia if it can be verified; that is, if you can cite a good source showing that the person or group holds the opinion."
This bit about the purpose of the comic series is clearly an opinion which someone (you for instance) holds. However, Wikilawyers aren't going to accept a self-referential opinion (I once had someone tell me that it was "original research" to describe a comment stating that 'women are less intelligent than men' as offensive to women unless I could provide a reference to someone saying it was offensive in a major newspaper). If you can verify that this view of the comic series exists and has been mentioned in some sort of trade publication or common discussion area for comics then it can be included in the article. --CBD 11:54, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Speculation

[edit]

I once created a perfectly good article called US invasion of Iraq. The only problem was that I created it 9 months before the invasion. While this future event seemed as inevitable to me as the rising of the sun, it was not met with favor by the community. In your world, the edits to Crisis on Infinite Earths no doubt seem similarly to be rather ordinary projections of what is happening, but they do violate Wikipedia:Original research and are not appropriate in this forum. I expect they would be very welcome in other forums which serve the comics community. Fred Bauder 14:18, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Whether this event sours you on Wikipedia remains to be seen. Your contributions are very welcome, but in general they need to have their roots in reliable published sources. I am sorry to have not responded more quickly or completely to you, but I was distracted by personal affairs. Fred Bauder 14:18, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Including or not including art credits is just part of the wiki process. All you can do is express your opinion and hope others agree. If not, you might seek alternative forums or wait til they come around. Fred Bauder 14:28, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
