1993 - 2000 Sports Network Cup retroactive voting[edit]

Hello Athletic Historian, You've created a number of articles, including:

In all these articles you've stated trophy winner with the following statement:

The Sports Network Cup traveling trophy was first awarded in 2001; however, the Sport Networks Mid-Major Championship teams were honored retroactively on the trophy as recipients dating back to 1993

Could you please point me to where you've obtained that information? I am unable to locate that info anywhere.

Thanks!

Proposed deletion of 1981 Aloha Bowl[edit]

The article 1981 Aloha Bowl has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Cancelled game article that is unreferenced. I haven't found an article from a WP:RS backing this up.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ...William 14:50, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Drake–Iowa State rivalry, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Drake Stadium. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:56, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Drake–Iowa rivalry moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Drake–Iowa rivalry, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. GPL93 (talk) 02:24, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Dayton–Drake football rivalry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Drake–Dayton football rivalry. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. NRIVARLY[edit]

Please see WP:NRIVALRY. Just because a rivalry between two schools exist does not mean that it automatically qualifies for an article. The article must still pass the General Notability Guideline and receive significant coverage from independent and reliable sources (which links to schedules from Drake's athletics website, etc. very much are not). Additionally, not every sporting matchup between the schools should be included because many of these matchups simply are not notable and Wikipedia is not a collections of indiscriminate game results and statistics. Best, GPL93 (talk) 14:40, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

These are known rivals if you follow college sports:

Iowa Big Four - Drake vs. Iowa, Drake vs. Iowa State, Drake vs. Northern Iowa, Iowa vs. Iowa State, Iowa vs. Northern Iowa, Iowa State vs. Northern Iowa.

Pioneer Football League - Drake vs. Butler, Drake vs. Dayton, Drake vs. San Diego, Dayton vs. San Diego, Valparaiso vs. Butler

Missouri Valley - Drake vs. Northern Iowa, Bradley vs. Drake, Indiana State vs. Evansville, Valparaiso vs. Evansville, Indiana State vs. Valparaiso, Illinois State vs. Bradley, Southern Illinois vs. Missouri State

Old school Missouri Valley - Creighton vs. Wichita State, Drake vs. Creighton, Wichita State vs. Bradley, Bradley vs. Creighton.

The Drake vs. Valparaiso is an emerging rivalry now that they play in Pioneer Football League and Missouri Valley.

There is tons of hard copy info on these games. I am not sure where you are located, but I encourage you to attend one if you have the opportunity. I am sure you would be impressed with the atmosphere.

I do follow college sports, but there's a very large difference between "known" and meeting Wikipedia's notability standards and "hard copy info" and significant coverage by Wikipedia:Independent Reliable Sources~. GPL93 (talk)

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Johannes Maximilian was: This submission is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Wikipedia is a tertiary source – what Wikipedia basically does is copy the contents (in its own words) of already published sources. Wikipedia is not a place to publish one's original thought. None of the sources provided in this draft indicate a football rivalry – therefore, it is warranted to believe that a rivalry is not described in any required reliable, secondary sources. Notice

The article Drake–Northern Iowa rivalry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NRIVARLY. The article as it currently is constructed is an indiscriminate collection of scores across multiple sports. Almost all sourcing is primary, coming mostly from the media guides of Drake or Northern Iowa sports teams or game reports/box scores from school website. There isn't much mention of an actual "rivarly" in independent, reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
