No problemo!

[edit]

You clearly deserved it by not feeding any troll any tiny tidbit of food! Awards should be given more often imho, so feel free to spread the wikilove :-)

Cheers, The Minister of War (Peace) 01:40, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, nice work in reverting his edits! I commend you for that. --Khoikhoi 04:55, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have put a warning on his talk page. Hopefully, he will stop. --HolyRomanEmperor 15:37, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have little hope but fingers crossed. Asterion 15:55, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No need to cross your fingers, as it won't work. I told you I am determined about the cause I am fighting for. It is my country in question. And you two have no connection with it whatsoever. It is impressive that you care so much. I hope this initiative of yours is an April 1 Fools joke, as it is as funny. From KOSOVA with love, anytime ready for my homecountry! Ilir pz 23:07, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is no place for personal crusades, my friend. Stick to encyclopaedic NPOV or you will be banned. Regards, Asterion 23:15, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not your friend. As it seems we are back to the old game then. You keep reverting whatever I edit. Nice. Take care. Ilir pz 23:29, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, when he said you two have no connection with it, did he mean me? Well, an entire branch of my family is from Kosovo, and I consider Kosovo another place in my heart (next to Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia). But again, it doesn't matter. This is a encyclopedia. --HolyRomanEmperor 12:47, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Asterion, you deserve some rest, after writing biased and incorrect content in all sites that have anything to do with Albanians. Hope the rest will cause you to reflect and call your reason. If not, we will be back in the old game. Ilir pz 09:35, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Best wishes and keep well, my friend. Asterion 19:43, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AfD

[edit]

No problem — it's a more complex business than at first appears (I have to check my reminder page every time I start an AfD). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:13, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the main problem is here; he has been removing warning messages, which is considered vandalism. How can we put an end to that? --HolyRomanEmperor 22:38, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know of two other users who have been banned for similar removal of warning messages. Basically, it is down to any administrator to take action. I know for a fact that most are reluctant but I will do my canvassing on the matter and we shall see... Asterion 06:37, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kosova

[edit]

I don't really care about the politics of the matter - the templates were however exactly the same when I made the redirect. --SPUI (talk - RFC) 06:33, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I added my comments to the article talk page. If no meaninful complains arise, I shall do as discussed. Thanks again, Asterion 06:35, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kosovo article

Please come. I think that Ilir pz needs an arbitration if he keeps going this way. Your assistence is required. --HolyRomanEmperor 17:06, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

a nice one :)Ilir pz 17:15, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note please that he has called people to ban you a vandal for over 4 times on the page. That is certainly more than enough to draw a little attention to him (arbitration in the worst case?) --HolyRomanEmperor 17:16, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a argument that Kosovo is representit in the Word with the serbian flage then give me, don t rev.--Hipi Zhdripi 18:05, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Barnstar awarded

Thank you for the barnstar, Asterion! :) You should've put it on my user page instead of the talk page, though. I archive my long talk page, while I keep the user page on the line. --HolyRomanEmperor 18:45, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you liked it, I did not really want to mess up with the user page formatting. I'm not very good at that. You can place it how you like now :o) Asterion 06:23, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

A kind remark, Asterion!!! Stop reverting the template of Kosovo with Serbia's flag. You wouldn't like if we edit in Serbian wiki pages, would you? so please leave sites that have to do with Kosovo and Albanians alone, and don't vandalize, before it is too late. Keep exchanging barnstars with HRE, and have fun in your Serbian wiki sites, instead. Ilir pz 19:13, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

==Welcome to VandalProof== Thanks for your interest in VandalProof! You've been added to the list of authorized users, and feel free to contact me or post a message on VandalProof's talk page if you have any questions. AmiDaniel (Talk) 03:27, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In light of your recent edit warring regarding the Kosovo article, I've decided it best to place a slight hold on your approval. If you'd still like to use VandalProof, please resubmit your name on Monday, 17 Apr 06, or contact me on my talk page if you believe I've made a mistake. Thanks. Hi AmiDaniel, refer to your talk page. I just left a message about this. The user who made the accusations against me has just been blocked for repeated edit disruptions once again. I am refraining from further engagement with him as arbitration is sadly the only option left. Best regards, Asterion 22:30, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I'm really sorry about this. I've been *extremely* stressed this week with real-life stuff and I've been devoting all of my freetime (and much of my not-so-free time) to Wikipedia, so I've kind of been a little rash in my decisions lately. Unfortunately, there's some db bug with Wikipedia right now and I don't seem to be able to lift the restriction tag on you, but you're now on the list again, so it shouldn't matter whether the tags are in place or not. Again, I'm sorry, but maybe you could use this event (which I think could probably also be deemed trolling) to back you up in the AbCom? Anyway, please contact me if you have problems getting on and I'll try to sort them out... you should, however, now be on the approved list. AmiDaniel (Talk) 07:30, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm hopefully going to have a working install for 1.0.1 (which I think might actually be 1.1.0) ready for download either tomorrow of or Sunday. That should fix your problems with unsigned system files. You are on the authorized list; are you sure that you are signed in as Asterion in Wikipedia within VP's browser? Try clicking on "Sign In / Create an account" and logging in as Asterion. VP uses the IE rendering enginge, so you'll need to be logged in in IE for it to work. AmiDaniel (Talk) 18:35, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hm... This may be a result of your Wikipedia skin. Try changing it to monobook (if you haven't already) and see if that fixes it. AmiDaniel (Talk) 20:34, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks! I just hope that I will (in the future) get different, and not the same kind of Barnstars. ;) I would've given you one just now, but as you can see on User_talk:Ilir_pz, he has acused the two of us for exchanging barnstars, so I don't think that it's wise to give in to his acusations right now. :) Bye! --HolyRomanEmperor 22:16, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ha ha ha :o) He could get a sockpuppet to give him one if he likes. By the way, Ilir has been banned for 3RR once again. Good night. Asterion 22:21, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Note also that he mentioned Arkan on his talk page. Arkan is responcible for the death of a bunch of people that I personally knew. Look in what type he used the sentece.
I am asking you to use the Request for Comment (RfC). I'm not very familiar with it, so I want you to handle it.
Nighty night! By the way, how do you revert so effectivly without standard (long, you-know-which) way. Is there another? --HolyRomanEmperor 22:51, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd also like to thank you for the Barnstar you gave me. I appreciate your comments on the Anti-Bosniak sentiment article because I believe that through discussion we're helping ensure the text's neutrality. Live Forever 02:03, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hipi Zhdripi

[edit]

Uhhh... this is now getting really odd. That user has now been conducting Anti-Albanian propaganda, after firmly committing Albanian. See: this He removed all mentions of Albanians from the Kosovo article. This is getting really, really weird... --HolyRomanEmperor 14:28, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have to admit he writes English the way a Serbian speaker would transcribe it if only learnt from ear, with no knowledge of spelling or grammar, but trying to spell it phonetically (sort of "Write as you speak and read as it is written" principle, you know). Very, very weird indeed! I will be offline for a few days. Talk to you soon after (and good luck with the usual suspects :o)) Asterion 16:50, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reply about desecrated churches in Kosovo

[edit]

Hello Asterion, that sounds like a very good idea. Yes I've been to that site before but I read it again. We need more information about the desecrated churches after 2000 too (read the unrest in 2004). That crime against all humanitys historical and cultural heritage should be revealed here on wikipedia. Have a nice holiday, Litany

Hi

[edit]

On my user talk page you posted the following comment using the template "civility":

==Cool Down==
Please deal with other contributions in a polite and constructive manner. Rude behavior is discouraged by Wikipedia policies. See Wikipedia:Civility. Thank you. Regards, Asterion 14:43, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please, when doing such things, try to gather more information about the incidents in question. Posting frivolous comments such as this one without any further explanations can often be counter-productive. Also, I suggest a re-reading of WP:NPOV, especially the section titled "Undue weight". You seem to be interested in a number of topics about former Yugoslavia. Many of these topics are very complex and I would recommend researching them well before trying to tackle sensitive subjects. Regards, --Elephantus 17:15, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should take the advise at face value. It is a call to civility, to respect other wikipedians views. You simply have to check your own contribution history to realise what I mean. See Talk:Serbia for further examples. As for "researching well before trying to tackle sensitive subjects", I certainly do, thank you very much. Asterion 17:18, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would be most grateful if you provided me with specific examples of uncivility or rude behaviour on my part. I find unfounded accusations of uncivility because people happen to disgree with your POV a bit problematic. --Elephantus 17:30, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Calling people a Troll because they happen to disagree with your POV is not the best way to make friends. You may have your differences with them (and I agree with User:HolyRomanEmperor's views on Primadol, anyway), but it does not help a great deal. In any case, I was simply offering some advise. It was not a warning, but a civility ready-made template. Take it if you want. Regards, Asterion 18:35, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Elephantus, the user you have the dispute (Personal attack removed). Ilir pz 20:41, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Asterion. This is a copy of the response I left on my talk page. Allegations of any kind or coming from any side need to be substantiated by a neutral source. Needless to say, SUC or BRP are everything but neutral as I already illustrated on the article's discussion page (and I am convinced there is ample evidence there to support my claim). I think it is clear that the problem with the argument you mention is not its significance or (lack of) popularity and media coverage but its veracity. The mere fact that its only purpose there is to justify the described events speaks volumes about it. EurowikiJ 20:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You nd Kosovo

[edit]

Asterion, I dont know how old are you, but give your contribution in the articel in wich you know wat you are doing and then you cann tell me a bout your work and contribution. Im am seenig that you dont know nothing about the Yugoslavien, Serbien, Kosovo and UN - Law. With your edit war i the Kosovo articels you are saying the same thing like the Balkan peopel is saying about the serbs: that the serbian peopel know only to make troubel in Balkan and they are doin in Wikipedia too. If you do wat I am saying you are going to contrbute more to your countrie. In other keys you are given the argumet that the serbian Wikipedia memeber are maken the War, not only in Balkan but in Wikipedia too. And believ me, nobody in Wikipedia (or in Balkan) dont want War. Weck up, is the year 2006--Hipi Zhdripi 05:21, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry but I find hard to understand every second word of this comment. Every single of my edits is well referenced and sources mentioned and quoted. Maybe you feel you own the article simply because you were born there. Well, this is not the case. I have previously invited you to contribute your views to it but, I am afraid that neither your grasp of English is up to standard nor you seem to be open-minded enough to respect other people's views. Checking your history of contributions, over 90% of these are for reverts to obsolete, POV biased (and I noticed you mentioned before do not even know what WP:NPOV stands for) and full of grammar and spelling errors. I do not wish to waste my time in pointless arguments with you, if you have any point to make on this topic, please do so (with verifiable sources, of course) on Talk:Kosovo. With regards, --Asterion 14:55, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof 1.1 is Now Available For Download

[edit]

Happy Easter to all of you, and I hope that this version may fix your current problems and perhaps provide you with a few useful new tools. You can download version 1.1 at User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. Let me warn you, however, to please be extremely careful when using the new Rollback All Contributions feature, as, aside from the excessive server lag it would cause if everyone began using it at once, it could seriously aggitate several editors to have their contributions reverted. If you would like to experiment with it, though, I'd be more than happy to use my many sockpuppets to create some "vandalism" for you to revert. If you have any problems downloading, installing, or otherwise, please tell me about them at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs and I will do my best to help you. Thanks. No argumet

[edit]

No argumet!!! please dont inteprete the documents

Sombody have putit this Kosovo place in Serbia stub or category or template here with out argumet. We dont have a argumet that Kosovo is part of S/M. We have tha Constitution of this countrie but we have the rez. 1244 wich is more importen for the Wikipedia and is saying that Kosovo it is a part of Yougoslavia and is prototoriat of UN. Till we dont have a clearly argument from UN, aricel about Kosovo must be out of this stub or category or template. Pleas dont make the discution with intepretation or the Law wich are not accordin to 1244. Everybodoy can do that but that is nothing for Wikipedia.--Hipi Zhdripi 04:41, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See wat is hapen without arguments Nis--Hipi Zhdripi 04:45, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing to argue about. Kosovo is part of Serbia. It is a province of Serbia under United Nations administration, in the Resolution 1244 (1999), adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 10 June 1999 [2], the UN reafirmed its commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (and its sucessor state, the Union of Serbia and Montenegro, after the country changed its name). Anyone with some knowledge on International Law is aware that Serbia does not have a separate foreign policy (now and when Serbia and Montenegro was called the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia), this is left in the hands of the federal government. Therefore, the UN would not deal directly with Serbia or Montenegro, in the same way that it wouldn't do with Scotland separately if a problem were to arise in the UK. There is nothing else to argue about. Facts are non-negotiable. I do not want to waste my time again. Please stop leaving comments on my talk page (and do not copy my replies elsewere either) --Asterion 04:49, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anonymous vandal

[edit]

Hi. I want to ask you can we do something about this anonymous vandal here:

Can we ban him or something. He vandalized many maps on Wikipedia. For example, here is one map drawn by me. I wrote there that I am author and released the map into public domain, but this anonymous user removed that and wrote that this map should be deleted. See that here:

He done this with several more maps too. I suspect that it is a sockpupet of some of the Albanian users from Kosovo article. Since you are involved in revert wars with them there, can you report this anonymous user (or sockpupet) to the proper place (I do not know how to report him). PANONIAN (talk) 23:35, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Perhaps an WP:RCU could help in this endeavour. The edit war is taking ridiculous forms, and I think there might even be enough grounds to start an RFC on some editors, especially if they indeed use socks. The Minister of War (Peace) 10:39, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR Socksuspect

[edit]

As this appears to be an ongoing case, you may want to list it on WP:RFCU to have the sock puppets verified. If the ip's are static in nature, they can be longterm blocked. — xaosflux Talk 01:34, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If these are coming from AOL there is really not much that can be done short of filing an abuse complaint with AOL, other then extending sprotection and hoping they go away. Do you know how to use the RIR lookups to see where they are from? — xaosflux Talk 01:35, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
RIR is the Regional Internet Registry. This registry maintains what IP's belong to what companies. You can do a RIR look up on a talk page for an anon by using the links at the bottom of the page e.g. on User talk:127.0.0.1. If you suspect these are from AOL, you may want to review Wikipedia:Dealing with AOL vandals. — xaosflux Talk 03:01, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing the reverts to the talk page :) I'm pretty sure I read the indictment correctly, and I sourced relevant parts on Talk:Milan Milutinović. It's also interesting to read a part about Slobodan Milošević, where they pretty much establish that the president of Serbia has authority over (what was called) Yugoslav Army. Also, presidents of both Serbia and Montenegro serve on the Supreme defense council, a council which controls the Army, and since the 1970's it was really mostly republics who made decisions about the military, not so much the federation (that said, even the federal government is highly subordinate to republic governments). Cheers --dcabrilo 19:44, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Asterion, you have been accusing me of being a sockpuppet of ilir pz. I am not. Stop accussing me. Yes we have the same interests, Kosovo as do a few other million Albanians from Kosovo. I am just defending Kosovo from you and other Serb nationalists, as Ilir is doing pz is doing, but we are different people.

However, please note that Hipi Zhdripi and Dardanv are very likely the same person. I know that you have been arguing with User:Hipi Zhdripi for some time, so please see what he did here, even before it was actually posted. All the best! --HolyRomanEmperor 10:17, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I added an NB on Hipi's recent behaviour and casted my favourable vote just now. --Asterion 11:27, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ref num converter

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you are on the Ref converter spamlist

I have just updated Ref converter to handle {{ref num}} links. I am not entirely sure of the correctness of the new code, though, so I have uploaded it as a testing version here. Please use it for now, especially on pages that use ref num, and contact me with any bug reports. If no bugs are detected by 2006-04-24 00:00 UTC then I will overwrite the old version of the ref converter with the new version and you can go back to using wikirefs.pl. --Cyde Weys 17:25, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HRE

[edit]

Hey Asterion,

It looks like the RfA has quickly become a battleground of the varous Balkan ethnic groups, Jesus Christ. I voted anyways, and I think he may have a good chance of succeeding this time. Just watch out for any signs of votestacking. Cheers, —Khoikhoi 22:48, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, this reminds me a lot of my RfA. Unfortunately, one user who didn't like me decided to spam the talk pages of 100 editors, asking them all to oppose me. Oh well, at least that can't happen for this one. —Khoikhoi 22:59, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks. :) I guess the way to undo all that is by making more friends than enemies. —Khoikhoi 23:11, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No article should exist only to list a bunch of external links. I think WP:EL says as much. However, I'm not an authority or anything, and I don't have any huge personal interest in "internet art". My advice would be to read WP:EL and do what you think is right. Haakon 16:56, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thank you. It would possibly be too much hassle. Who would decide what is remarkable enough for listing? After reading your explanation, I think that, if anything, we should link to the DMOZ directory entry on the subject. Cheers, --Asterion talk to me 16:59, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, if there is a DMOZ category specific enough, then linking to that is a great solution, in my opinion. Using {{dmoz|Dmoz/Path/To/Foobar|Foobar}} is very handy. Haakon 17:03, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great! I have added a link to {{dmoz|Dmoz/Arts/Digital/Net_Art/|Net Art}} just now. Thanks for the advise! --Asterion talk to me 20:36, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsense

[edit]

It makes no sense what you are doing. Stop vandalizing articles on Kosovo. Enjoy Spain, instead. Stop reporting me for defending the Kosovo article from you and the alike. For everythime you attack Kosovo, I will put the reference to war crims on the Serbia article. I honestly believe that the reference to war crimes is important. But I will stop, if you and others stop.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Dardanv (talkcontribs) 17:08, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfC/Cyde

[edit]

I'd encourage you to take a closer look at the RfC. It is not intended to resolve issues, whether technical or usability ones, of ideal referencing formats. I think the m:Cite.php is a valuable technology (not perfect; it has both advantages and disadvantages), and I think the existence of refconverter is helpful for implementing that reference system where article editors desire it. The RfC concerns the user conduct by Cyde is essentially two areas:

  1. Edit warring over reference formats against the existing consensus of article editors
  2. Deleting caveats about the use of refconverter and/or aggressively misstating that non-Cite.php references are "deprecated" (including, but not only, in pages associated with refconverter); this gives some editors the impression that refconverter should be applied automatically to articles, without consulting other article editors.

Well... I guess I also get a little annoyed at Cyde's persistent belligerence and personal attacks. But I have fairly thick skin, and the issue of improper use of refconverter is more pressing that a few nasty things said about me. Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters 19:06, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. I will reply on the RfC page. --Asterion talk to me 19:10, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Talk page:

"Remember that all talk pages are public. If you want to communicate privately, try using e-mail (see Wikipedia:Emailing users)." --VKokielov 15:31, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quoting from Wikipedia:User page: In general it is considered polite to avoid substantially editing another's user page without their permission. Some users are fine with their user pages being edited, and may even have a note to that effect. Other users may object and ask you not to edit their user pages, and it is probably sensible to respect their requests. The best option is to draw their attention to the matter on their talk page and let them edit their user page themselves if they agree on a need to do so.

Whether the talk page is public or not, this is irrelevant. It was Linuxbreak's discussion page. It is quite clear HRE did not invite you personally to take any action and you did not seek any sort of reassurance either. Regards, --Asterion talk to me 15:37, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since neither of us is dumb, and both of us know why I did it, let's end the discussion. Don't pretend to interpret literally. You'll get caught in the net you lay, one day. --VKokielov 15:45, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever your actions were, I still assume good faith. Simply pointing out that given the gravity of the matter, this is up to the user and the bureaucrat to sort out by themselves. Best regards, --Asterion talk to me 15:47, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I answered on my talk page. --Zmaj 11:24, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I checked Wikipedia:No personal attacks. It explictly says: Disagreements about content such as "Your statement about X is wrong" or "Your statement is a point of view, not fact" are not personal attacks. --Zmaj 11:30, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You know well, this is not what you said: "...and this coming from someone who has already made a false statement" is an Ad Hominem. Therefore, a personal attack. --Asterion talk to me 11:33, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see... You're right. I did the wrong thing. If that's any solace to you, I didn't look at it that way until you pointed out Ad Hominem to me. Ante Starcevic article protection

[edit]

I'm usualy very calm, but this blatant vandalism is getting to be too much. It's as if all of a sudden there is at least 10 vandals all working in concert to vandalize Croatia-related articles, inserting biased statements, OR, unverifiable (and heavily biased) sources, etc, etc. and I'm at a loss on how to proceed. They don't want to discuss, don't want to compromise, infact they're perfectly satisfied to engage in endless revert wars thus disrupting those articles and driving away those who really do have something relevant to contribute... I'm really not that well versed in Wikipedia system of protection and arbitration, but every attempt by me to get those users checked out or blocked has been ignored by the powers that be... What gives? --Dr.Gonzo 14:54, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know. I perfectly understand you. This is why I requested the semi-protection at first. At least this way, people must own their actions. My point is that it would be silly to get yourself banned that way. I have been there myself and I know the feeling. Regards, --Asterion talk to me 14:58, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that comment was a personal attack, unless you consider calling him a vandal, which he has proven himself to be by reverting without any discussion although i pleaded him to do so, a personal attack. I don't think I'm in any danger of being banned, since anyone can take a look at my contributions and see I've always called for compromise and resolving disputes reasonably. Unfortunately, users like Purger don't act in good faith and are not bothered to behave according to rules of conduct, and are destroying this fine encyclopedia in progress. Imagine for a second if noone reacted to their malicious edits, every single Croatia-related article would now be festering with lies and Serb extremist POV. Wikipedia wasn't started yesterday, those articles have been fine for years, and I'm sure many Serbian users visited them in the mean time and found nothing too objectionable. But now, this horde of immature, probably teenage vandals comes here and starts terrorizing all of us, and we can't do anything about it? I'd even consider giving up on those articles, if it didn't hurt so much to see this kind of behaviour go on unsanctioned... It has prevented from contibuting to Wikipedia in meaningful ways since every time I log on I lose any enthusiasm I might have had because one of those same 5-6 users has vandalized some article on my watchlist again... I really don't know who to turn to, but this MUST be stopped! --Dr.Gonzo 15:20, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Replied on User talk:Dr.Gonzo--Asterion talk to me 15:32, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Inserting factual inaccuracies is considered a form of vandalism. He is also highly disrespective of other users and does not assume good faith. And belive me, I always enter an argument with nothing but good faith. These users however, are not trying to contribute meaningfully to Wikipedia, but are insted distorting facts, disrupting normal functioning, deleting parts of text that they deem "croatian POV" (although many of those parts were previously agreed upon by neutral observers to be NPOV), and resort to all the familiar patterns of waging a propaganda campaign. For example, look at User:Medule's contributions, and you'll see that this person has been engaged in 3 months of revert warring and vandalization of articles (by inserting factual inaccuracies and then reverting again and again to those nonsense versions of an article)... Besides, the fact that Purger is responding to my posts on talk page doesn't mean anything because in those responses he only informs me that I'm a biased propaganda pusher, and then goes and reverts the article again ;) As far as I understand it, if there are two versions of an article, and one is more inflammatory then the other, then the one that is less inflammatory should stay until a compromise is reached. But, this person flat out calls one of the more influential proponents of Croatian independence, an immesurably important figure in Croatian history, a man who is reffered to as "A father of a nation", a fascist, racist, antisemite, and an all around psycopath in an extremely insulting and obviously biased article and then acts surprised when every single Croatian wikipedian out there who stumbles upon it reverts it. And if that wasn't enough, he calls the more moderate version of the article (which, by the way does not exclude info on Starcevic's hatred towards the Serbs, as opposed to his version that excludes any information on Starcevic's political thought, life, and historical context) a "whitewashed, politically correct, ignorant scribbling"... I mean WTF, it's obvious he doesn't want to compromise, doesn't want to stop reverting, and probably uses sockpuppets to avoid violating the 3RR... --Dr.Gonzo 17:04, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures of Nova Gorica

[edit]

Hi, I just want to let you know that I've removed your pictures from the Nova Gorica article. The town in the first picture is not Nova Gorica and the second picture is not a monument to the volunteers in the Bosnian War (nor is it controversial), since the symbol on the memorial is of the Slovenian Armed Forces, which did not take part in the war.

Just thought that since you are also the author of the pictures, maybe you could clear this up for me.. I'm a native of Nova Gorica and I have to admit I have never seen that monument before.

The picture you claim is of Nova Gorica does remind me of Šempeter though, and although it is a suburb of Nova Gorica, it's a municipality in its own right with its own article. edolen1 16:55, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I took the pictures myself. Sorry, it has been a while since I visited it, I walked into Nova Gorica from the Italian border, so I may have stepped into Šempeter. If you are totally sure about this, please amend. If not, I will mark it for deletion. Regards, --Asterion talk to me 17:14, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm quite sure it's not Nova Gorica, since no church in the city has that particular belltower, but I do remember some towns in the surrounding area have it, I'm just not sure if it's Šempeter. edolen1 17:25, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, scrap that. I've just checked and it definitely does not look like the church in Šempeter. It appears to be the church in Vrtojba, however I'm not sure of it, since the position of the houses, considering the picture was taken from Italy, is odd. Vrtojba doesn't really come that close to the border. It's definitely not Nova Gorica though. edolen1 17:31, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I do not mind marking them for deletion as I could always re-upload them once we find out where are they from. Are you still living in the N-G area? If so, you have more chance to check this than me :o) BTW, I just remember, the picture of the church was from a village on the right hand side of the A4 border crossing from Italy. Not sure if this helps a bit. --Asterion talk to me 17:40, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, I think the church is Vrtojba. I checked this map and I think I remember that was the direction I took for the walk. Then I must have gone into Šempeter but NOT Nova Gorica. --Asterion talk to me 17:52, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if you remember, but there is a tunnel on the road from Šempeter to Nova Gorica. If you went through that tunnel, you definitely were in Nova Gorica. Or, heh, I don't know.. Did you see a big building with "Perla" written on it? This is a picture of it.It's the biggest casino in town (one of the biggest in Europe as well), you really can't miss it if you go to Nova Gorica. Oh and yes, I still live in NG. Never left, I'm only 16 anyway.. :) edolen1 19:07, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think I saw the casino. I may be confused and did not get to Nova Gorica at all, only to Šempeter by the look of it. I walked into Slovenia, so after checling the map, I do not think I walked so much. I went to a local supermarket, which I think could have been a Lidl or even a Merkator, but not sure either. I only remembered about this bit now because I bought some Sljvovica and some Planinski čaj (do you translate it as Mountain Tea?)--Asterion talk to me 19:19, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, it's tough to translate "Planinski čaj" into English. Planina is one of the rare Slovenian words that doesn't exist in English at all. It means the same as the German word "Alm" if that helps anything. Something like alpine grassland.. But yes, in essence it's "Mountain Tea". edolen1 20:25, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA comments

[edit]

Hi there, I just noticed your edit summary restore comments by SwatJester deleted by Asterion in an edit marked minor and summarizes as a typo. Well, I assume good faith on your part, nevertheless it was quite obvious that this was a simple mistake after I had to edit an old version to rescue my comments. The point being SwatJester was agreeing with me on the matter, as I had already replied to these two people on their talk pages (VKokielov and Zmaj). Have a nice day! --Asterion talk to me 11:31, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That was the second time I restored comments by others to that RfA that were deleted by you. I guess you claimed the first time was a personal attack, which would justify you removing it. However, I did not agree that it was a personal attack, and apparently, neither did the participants. I think it was an overzealous application of personal attack policy. So now you want to tell me that your second deletion of other people's comments was not deliberate, only your first one was? What happened, you were editing and old version and just didn't pay attention to the edit conflict alert page? Well, I guess that can happen. Just try not to let it happen again, OK?
And thank you for assuming good faith on my part. I assure you that my reversions of your deletions of other people's comments were well-intentioned. I was just enforcing policy as I interpret it as well as common sense courtesy, and not trying to annoy you. I suppose my edit summary makes it look like I, on the other hand, was not assuming good faith. My edit summary made it look like I thought you were trying to sneak in a deletion of other's comments without it getting noticed. Well, that is indeed what I thought, so I do apologize for you for failing WP:AGF. -lethe talk + 20:11, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. No offence taken. As you possibly know, the RfA comment area is meant to be related to the RfA only. Therefore, I left a message on the user's talk page and removed it from the RfA comments, as a) it was an Ad Hominem and b) it was unrelated to HRE. I had previously informed the bureaucrat too. Just for the record, Zmaj *did* apology. Regards, --Asterion talk to me 20:19, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So you're saying that you stand by the first removal. RfAs perhaps have stricter guidelines for comments than I imagine? -lethe talk + 20:26, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did remove that on purpose, but then somebody else restored it and I just could not be bothered to edit war about it, so I copied my reply from their talk page for the record. Now I see why you thought I was sneaking a delete in my edits ;-) --Asterion talk to me 20:33, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying your position. I guess I should have assumed good faith and come to your talk page when the incident first happened. Could have gotten it all straight then. Cheers. -lethe talk + 20:45, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not to worry, this sort of things happens on the Internet. I am sorry for any misunderstanding too. --Asterion talk to me 21:06, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fun times

[edit]
hehehhehe, you can be fun after all. I strongly believe you will change your attitude toward Kosovo related articles, as your strong-headedness will just lead you nowhere. Wish I knew what inspires you to hate Albanians so much?! Nevertheless, one day you will wake up saying "oh my God, 1244 resolution does not exist anymore, what else can I fight with to 'defend' Kosovo 'truth'?!?" The sooner you realize that is not worth wasting time on, the better. There is so much more important stuff you can help contribute with. You seem to know wikipedia rules, and know how to do research. We can better Kosovo related articles in a more constructive way together. Looking on the bright side, I have a feeling we can talk after a long time of misunderstanding?!Cheers, Ilir pz 21:19, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ilir, as long as you behave in a civil way I have no problem talking to you or anyone. Well, just for the record, I do not hate Albanians or else. I have absolutely no idea why are you coming out with that now. I told you before, I have not expressed my opinion on Kosov@, as this is irrelevant indeed. The point is the current situation is that de iure, Kosovo is still part of Serbia & Montenegro. We can talk later, I need to earn my living tomorrow and off to bed now. Cheerio, Asterion talk to me 21:44, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You needn't say it explicitly that you hate someone in particular, but checking your edits, and your pushy way of trying to make a (pro-Serbian) point, as well as supporting the Socialist Party of Serbia, which led wars that exterminated not only Albanians, does not leave me many options. Glad to hear you say explicitly you do not hate Albanians. Neither do I hate Serbs. I hate ALL those who committed crimes over anyone in my country. Many (realistic) Serbian politicians gave up on insisting the de jure issue, what makes you be so bound to that 1244 resolution? I encourage you to read further, in the UNMIK updated documents and statements from CG (Contact Group :)), and not instead cite a single document, or suspicious non-neutral sites. That would make you more acceptable with the opposite side (in which I am currently). G'luck.Ilir pz 23:06, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What "suspicious non-neutral sites"?!? I quoted you the UN, Ilir. I will read the constitutional draft later on, anyway. I agree Kostunica semms to be burying his head in the ground, but even so, you know the Russians would never allow for full independence as this sets up a bad geopolitical precedent [4]. In all honesty, Albanians could have shown better peace credentials during these few years ([5], [6], [7], [8], and I could go on...) In any case, as things are going with the actual article, I think I may stop contributing till people's edit warring mood calm down a little bit. Cheers, --Asterion talk to me 22:51, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Asterion, don't you feel like you should correct Manojlo for his additions, like you once very carefully corrected mine, when I was new in Wikipedia? This would show your neutrality, at the same time. Ilir pz 10:34, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ilir,

As far as I see it, you are having a content dispute with Manojlo. It does not help to call people a vandal, but this is just my advice. Usually, it makes people angrier indeed.
