If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tom Smail requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.universaledition.com/en/Contacts/Tom-Smail/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Deletion discussion about Tom Smail

[edit]

Hello AscanioB, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Tom Smail, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tom Smail.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Jamiebuba}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Edits to Alba Arikha

[edit]

I have made some edits to the Alba Arikha article to conform to Wikipedia policies on references. Please see:

  WP:Reliable sources

Sources must be independent of the person the article is about. That means that you do not cite their own web site, or use facts from bios on their place or work or where their items are sold. When you write about their books, links to the publishers or to web sites where the books are sold (Amazon, etc.) are not considered reliable and are not used as references in the body of the article. Reviews are reliable, and they help the person's notability. The author's writings are usually placed in a separate section, and there you can include links (but not references) to the publisher if you wish. The ISBN will link to both library and sales sites.

For biographies of living persons you must find independent sources for all of the facts (family, education, etc.). Any facts for which there are no sources must be removed.

There are some more edits that need to be done, but I wanted to explain to you why I was making them. Lamona (talk) 18:08, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
