Recent edit to Jesse Draper[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Jesse Draper), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Materialscientist (talk) 00:48, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thank you for your note. I am having trouble siting the biography. It is from Jesse Draper's website http://halogenvc.com/#meet-jesse. Are you able to advise?

Thanks for your help. Arramirez05 (talk) 17:37, 1 March 2017 (UTC) arramirez05[reply]

'Bold text'== Editing Wikipedia ==

Hello, thanks for joining Wikipedia! I notice that all your edits are on the topics of Jesse Draper, and I wonder if you have some connection, or "conflict of interest" with them, such as that you are an employee or contractor or being paid for editing Wikipedia to market them.

This isn't necessarily a problem, but if this is so, you must immediately file a disclosure statement explaining any conflict of interest to ensure transparency. Here's an example of what a disclosure looks like - but please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any kind of questions about this, privately by email is fine if you’re having problems. You should also ensure that all your edits are factual and cannot be considered in any way promotional, and are backed up by citations to reliable sources demonstrating them to be true. You will almost certainly want to submit your edits via the "request edit" process to be discussed by experienced contributors before being moved to the live site, as direct edits by COI editors may be immediately reverted. An automated message explaining what you must now do in more detail is added below. Hope this is OK, let me know if you have any thoughts or questions. Information icon Hello, Arramirez05. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

Hello, Thanks for your help. I am new to editing on wikipedia and quiet confused on how to source, etc. My source is Jesse Draper's website http://halogenvc.com/#meet-jesse.

Might you help or advise on how to do so?

Thank you.

Thanks for your comments. It is fine if you wish to add information, but you should not remove it, unless it is factually wrong (and if so, you should explain why you are removing it). In addition, edits must not add text that could be considered promotional. Terms like "she’s helped pioneer the way in digital media and has an initiative to interview 50% women in technology" [really? all however many million people that is?] and "she proudly sits on the board" certainly fit this description and this does not conform with our values - this is why I suggested that if you're new to Wikipedia and want to make changes, you might like to request on the talk page for the change so your proposed text can be examined.
I also must repeat what I said earlier: if you have a connection to Ms. Draper, you must file a COI disclosure before making any further edits. If you do not do this you and your employer will be in violation of section 4 of Wikimedia’s terms of service. Blythwood (talk) 18:52, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted edits[edit]

I've reverted your edits as they add text posted elsewhere on a copyrighted website. This makes it inappropriate for copying onto Wikipedia. If you wish to propose changes to this article, you may wish to request them so that they can be discussed and approved by experienced contributors. Once again, as I said before, if you have any connection to Ms. Draper you must disclose it, and if you do not you are presumably not permitted to upload copyrighted photos of her.
