DYK for Kapitan Laut Buisan
On 12 August 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Kapitan Laut Buisan, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that, as a 16th- and 17th-century ruler of Maguindanao, Kapitan Laut Buisan led raids against Spanish settlements? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kapitan Laut Buisan. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

- Arius1998, it is important that you answer BrownHairedGirl's query right away on Template:Did you know nominations/Capture of Malolos. It's been almost two weeks since she made it, which is too long to have to wait. Please don't let it slide any further; another reviewer may decide to close the review as unanswered, which would keep it from running on the Wikipedia main page. Milhist assessment
Hello, Arius, I notice that you have entered a number of articles in the Milhist monthly contest. It's great to see your interest. In order to qualify for points, the articles need to be reassessed in the month that they are listed, though (e.g. if you list it in August's contest, someone needs to physically re-assess the article in August). A number of the articles you have listed haven't been re-assessed this month. This might be because you haven't asked for someone to take a look. The best way that you can do this is by listing the article here: WP:MHA. There are a number of editors there who will assess your articles against the B-class criteria. Additionally, it is best to create the talk page as well and add the Milhist project tag to it as this will sometimes attract a reviewer when it appears in the unassessed category. Keep up the good work. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 03:00, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

- Not sure if you're aware, because it's your first time standing, but you can also vote for other candidates in the election, even if you are one yourself. It may also have the added side-effect of voters looking more favourably at your nomination and reviewing your contributions, and with a bit of luck you'll gain some more support. DYK quid pro quo review requirement is in force for your submissions
Arius1998, I wanted to be very sure that you were aware of a requirement for all of your DYK submissions going forward, including those currently active: you must submit a quid pro quo (QPQ) review for each. Basically, what this means is that for each article you nominate for DYK, you must give a full review to someone else's nominated article. You've long since used up your five freebies.
At the moment, you have six articles that you have submitted in the past couple of weeks that each require a matching review from you. At least half of them already appear on this page with other issues that still need to be addressed: the QPQ has been added to these.
It is important that you respond to these messages when they appear on your talk page here. It isn't enough to do some work on the articles: we really need you to answer on the nomination template so we know you are working with us on your submission. If you don't respond, then you're effectively abandoning your original submission. Not only does that keep your article from being included in DYK, but it also wastes the time of the people who have reviewed your article. That can be very frustrating.
I hope to see your reviews shortly. There is a DYK reviewing guide at WP:DYKR, and all the DYK rules and other information can be found on Wikipedia:Did you know/Onepage. I have noted on your six nominations that a QPQ review for each is expected within a week, but if you've started and made good progress, that deadline will become flexible if a couple still remain. If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to let me or someone else know. You can also inquire at the DYK talk page, WT:DYK. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:22, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm glad to see you working on the QPQs; thanks for the quick response. You do need to be sure you're using the right criteria and tools, however, so your reviews are accurate. For DYK, the 1500 minimum is specified as 1500 prose characters. Headers, captions, tables, footnotes, block quotes: none of these count. Also, chunks of material imported from other articles do not count toward the minimum, if you happen to notice any. A great tool is DYKcheck: it not only checks for the size in prose characters but several other issues. Among these are expansion (useful for articles that aren't new), whether the article is a stub (not allowed, though articles usually grow out of stubness when they otherwise qualify for DYK), that the hook fact is in the article and is cited no later than the end of the sentence it's in and the source agrees with the article, that each paragraph in the article (except for the intro) has an inline citation, and that the article and hook are both neutral. It also checks for two rare forms of disqualification: no article can appear a second time as the main link in DYK, or in DYK after it has appeared in In the News (ITN). BlueMoonset (talk) 03:32, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
Not sure you saw it, but on my talk page I replied to the message you left me there. Hope it answered your question about what I meant. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:20, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
