Speedy deletion of Arachnoid Cyst Awareness

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Arachnoid Cyst Awareness, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Whip it! "I am not sure why you want to delete this article and why you are writing SPAM on it. I find this very disappointing since Wikipedia is here for any organization, person, company, etc to be recognized. Arachnoid Cyst Awareness is the only organization dedicated to raising awareness for Arachnoid Cysts. I am sure there are many organizations represented on Wikipedia for more widely known diseases such as Cancer and AIDS. Just because Arachnoid Cysts are an orphan disorder of the brain, does not mean they cannot have an organization representing them."

First of all, you are quite wrong. Wikipedia is not here for any organization, person or company, only the ones that are notable. Second, your article was marked for speedy deletion because it is written like an advertisement. Articles should be written like articles, and they must be neutral. Third, your username indicates that you are editing on behalf of a group, organization or company, which is against our policies. I strongly suggest you change your username (you can do so by making a request at Wikipedia:Changing username) or you may risk getting blocked for spamming. --Whip it! I did send a request to change my user name like you suggested, and I don't know how long it will take to get this done, but again, look at the example of an organization on wiki that I gave you. ACA is written no different than ABTA. If ACA is written like an advertisement, than so is ABTA and many other organizations on here. I feel like you are trying to be mean on purpose because you can. You just assume everyone on here is out to do something horrible, and when someone is trying to honestly write a beneficial article, you want to delete it. If you think I am not going to fight this all the way to the top, you are quite wrong, and I would like you to actually read the article this time. How would you like me to edit the article so that it can be included on wiki? I guess I just don't understand what you mean. I am writing an article about an organization and am giving information on that organization just like many of your articles already approved. Are you specifically targeting me? What is the real reason?

I am not being mean on purpose, I am trying to make you understand why your article is nominated for speedy deletion and what you can do to rectify that. You need add reliable second and third-party sources (that means not your own official website, that belongs in the external links section) and you need to write it in a neutral tone. In other words, don't write it as though you must make everyone aware of the organization. And please assume good faith, do not automatically jump to the conclusion that I or anyone else is out to get you or your article, because that is not what most of us are here for. We are trying to enforce policies that are there to keep this encyclopedia in line. Please read the policies that I have linked you to so you can understand what I'm talking about and visit the help desk if you have anymore questions. --Whip it! I was in the process of rewriting it, when you deleted it! How am I supposed to add text or remove text if you go and delete the whole thing? Again, for the fifth time, a lot of articles on here that are short have absolutely no sources listed, ABTA being one of them for example. I was writing it, I am the source, they have a website, I only put their link in external links, but that is the organization's website, and will you please just look at the examples I am giving you? They did the EXACT same thing as me, and you didn't delete theirs, how is that even right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arachnoidcystawareness (talkcontribs) 01:13, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not deleting it. I do not have the power to delete pages. You may want to go back to the page and see the history to know who deleted it. And furthermore, your argument that article X exists so why can't article Y exist is an argument that will get you nowhere. Your website alone cannot count as a source, and if you read Wikipedia:Verifiability, you would know why. And I have told you before, please stop assuming that just because someone deletes an article you have created or reverts your edits means they have a personal vendetta against you. I do not know you in real life, nor have I interacted with you prior to this, so I cannot possibly have anything against you.--Whip it! Now whip it good! 01:49, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
