To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}}
on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.
Please remember to:
- Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes
~~~~
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp. - Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
1984 Indian Airlines Airbus A300 hijacking
[edit]As a complete neophyte I am at a loss on the correct way of doing things. The page referenced is a confusion of 2 separate incidents. The first hijacking occurred on 5 July, 1984 and involved an Airbus A300 (Flight IC 405). see:https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19840705-0 the second incident occurred on 24 August 1984 and involved a Boeing 737 (Flight IC 421). I have collections of PDF files for both incidents including FAA records and news coverage (including web links) I would be happy to share with someone who knows what they are doing. I am loathe to try and delete a page and create 2 new ones never having done anything on here before.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Appleidiot (talk • contribs)
- Normally the more appropriate place to discuss the issues associated with an article is the Talkpage of the article, so it will be Talk:1984 Indian Airlines Airbus A300 hijacking in our case. Thanks a lot for your kind note. your concerns may be valid and I would be glad to collaborate with you to rectify this problem. Since these are 2 separate incidents, then it makes sense to split them into 2 seperate articles. The second article would be about Boeing 737 from this link. Please share the relevant links/URLs for the information about these 2 incidents. --DBigXrayᗙ 11:50, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- Speaking of overdue replies, here I am at last. Three weeks after I originally posted I had a 70mph head-on collision that took me out of circulation for a long time. Still mobility challenged, but ready to get back into what I started. unfortunately, the references I have are all pdf files. Because of the constant change on the internet, I screen printed web pages so I would have a static copy to reference. I have 21 files on the 2 flights and other than copying them one by one I dont know how to share them. And some of them are photos of text placed into the pdf, so that is a challenge as well. I will start the Wikipedia Adventure tomorrow to get a handle on this. Appleidiot (talk) 02:14, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
[edit]I originally created my account to see if anyone was interested in collaborating... I have neither the knowledge nor time to create/edit pages, but would be happy to share what I am learning with someone. I also noticed you are on a welcoming committee here. It would be really helpful for new users to get a link to an FAQ page full of "How do I...." cause dang this is confusing. It's taken me a while to get this far. If this is the wrong way to accomplish this, I would be eternally grateful for a link to the "right" way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Appleidiot (talk • contribs)
- Welcome. I will be glad to collaborate with you. You are right, I am in the welcoming committee, which means I am ready to help new users such as you who are willing to contribute to improving Wikipedia, but would need some help to learn the ropes. I have added a message with links that can help to get you started, you can read them at your own pace. --DBigXrayᗙ 11:50, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- There is a quick tutorial called The_Wikipedia_Adventure that I will highly recommend you to check out. Just click the link WP:TWA and follow the instructions and you will get to know the basic things to get started. You can always reply here in case you have any other question and I will be glad to help. --DBigXrayᗙ 11:50, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
