Image Names

[edit]

Can I rename an image I uploaded?

Not directly. What you can do is to reupload the same image with the new name and then ask speedy deltion of the old one. --J B 14:51, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How to revert to an earlier editions

[edit]

Is there a way to revert to an earlier edition of an article if someone was malices to it?

Sure is! See WP:REVERT for a guide -- it's much easier than it sounds. Go to the page history, click the "last" or "diff" buttons to see the comparison between page versions; old version is the left, new version is the right. There's an "edit" link with each version, if you click that, you'll edit that version instead of the page's current version; save that, and you're done. There's quite a few tools to help you in this regard, if you like, or you can just let me know where, and I'll take care of it. Thanks for caring. :) Luna Santin 03:59, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your message you sent me earlier about what program I used to modify the Westfield logo. The program I used is called Macromedia Fireworks. It is a vector editing program and is available to the public. You can download a free trial by clicking here. Once you have gotten the free trial you can use the software free of charge for 30 days, and then you have to purchase a license key to activate the software. Alternatively you can purchase the software from a professional software retailer or order it from the Adobe website (Adobe recently acquired Macromedia). There are other free alternatives such as GIMP, but I am unsure how this software compares.

P.S. If you really don’t want to pay the high price for the program (it is surprising expensive US$299) here is my license key for the product: <redacted>. Just download the free trial from the link above, install and then it will ask you weather or not you want to run the free trial or activate using the registration key. In response to your previous message - the way to delete the background in an image is to use the magic wand tool and click on the area you to delete with the magic wand tool selected. Once you have selected the area you want to delete press the delete button on your keyboard. After you have done this go Modify > Canvas > Canvas Color > and select "Transparent" as your background color. The background should now have a checkerboard design consisting on small grey and white squares - don't panic this is how it is supposed to be. Then go File > Save As > Save as type > and select "Fireworks PNG" > Save. OSX 01:36, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The link has very valuable information on the services that were offered by the airline. If you don't believe me have a look at it. The link that was removed also has an enriched content and multimedia.

It has many pages of content which is not available on Wikipedia!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ansett (talkcontribs) 19:16, 11 June 2006 (UTC+10 hours)

If you want to reference the content of the link added, I suggest you firstly identify what it is you want to reference and then include a summary of that content there - eg fleet or whatever. The site you added is in a domain run by Tokelau. It is not therefor the original Ansett site and may or may not be an accurate mirror - it is not clear what the site's purpose is and thus even whether or not it is reliable. A reliable source woud be with reference the Internet Archive. For example, http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.ansett.com.au and try one of the specific dates. You need to be more specific about which information you want to make accessible and perhaps remember that an encyclopaedia is not trying to be an indiscriminate collection of information - what would you like to see in the Ansett article - add that info and reference it with a reliable source.--A Y Arktos\talk 09:31, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should I upload my photos to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons? How does each of these work?Ansett 07:59, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Its better to upload them to Wikimedia Commons as long as you are releasing them under GFDL. From Commons, other language wikipedias can also utilise the images. If you load them to en.wikipedia, then only en can utilise them -- Lost(talk) 09:40, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Next time you want to move an article, you might want to discuss the move on its talk page before you move, especially if that article is going to be on a CD. Thanks! Wikipeditor 12:34, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please explain why you continue to replace a fair-use image with one of lesser quality. michael talk 06:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
