Hi, do you know if this new article is correctly titled? I thought that 3 CSSB supported the 3rd Brigade while the 10th Force Support Battalion reported to the Army's Logistic Support Force. That was before the Army's recent reorganisation though, so it could be very out of date. Nick-D (talk) 08:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

The 3rd Brigade's website also lists 10 FSB as a supporting unit not under its command. The Army isn't great at keeping its websites up to date though. Nick-D (talk) 08:21, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi Nick. Yeah I think this title may be wrong. 3CSSB is the 3Bde 2nd line CSS unit, whilst 10FSB is a 3rd line unit. It may have changed but I doubt it. Hope this helps. Anotherclown (talk) 08:24, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

No. 3 Commando

Hi mate, I've nominated No. 3 Commando for A class review. It is the first time I've tried for A class, so I'd been keen to have you take a look at the article for typos, readability, MOS compliance, and general saneness etc. The ACR can be found here Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/No. 3 Commando. — AustralianRupert (talk) 07:20, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

No worries, will do now. Anotherclown (talk) 06:26, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Well done, I've made a few more tweaks. Can you check the name of the location please? Also, is this article headed for ACR or FAC? It looks well written YellowMonkey (cricket photo poll!) paid editing=POV 05:26, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Howdy, thanks for your help again. Had a look at my references and most of them say 'Trang Bom' in Bien Hoa province (although one says 'Tran Bom'). So I would say your probably on the money with your assessment then, good pick up. Anotherclown (talk) 05:42, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

The translation of the sledge is wrong, either out of incompetence or deliberately PC by the translator. Also I think you should try out WP:MHR/A or WP:GAN or WP:FAC sometime. Your articles are great YellowMonkey (cricket photo poll!) paid editing=POV 07:02, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I think the real translation is a bit more rude... I have seen this quote in a couple of sources - one which translated it as 'Aussies get F%$#ed' and one which used the translation used here. I guess I'm just as guilty of being PC! I'll definately have a look at WP:GA stuff, thanks again. Anotherclown (talk) 09:32, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

AMC

Did you know about this? Apparently the Australian Military Court has just been deemed unconstitutional. Wow. — AustralianRupert (talk) 00:06, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, someone stuffed up massively. I mean seriously if I were a lawyer and I was revamping the military justice system the first thing I would do is check it was consititutional... I think we're going back to the old courts martial system until a proper solution can be arranged now. Anotherclown (talk) 21:04, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Did you hear how it all came undone? Lets just say some naval type 'teabagged' a superior officer whilst he was sleeping, was court martialled by the AMC, and then challenged it in the High Court on constitutional grounds. Hahaha. Anotherclown (talk) 21:07, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

1st Parachute Battalion (Australia)

Hi mate, there are still a couple of citation needed tags on 1st Parachute Battalion (Australia). Are you able to help with these at all? It would be good to get those added in, because then I think it would be up to a B class article. — AustralianRupert (talk) 00:41, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Sorry mate, I tried a few months back but even my library is not extensive enough. Very frustrating. Anotherclown (talk) 09:46, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I might have to see if I can find the battalion history somewhere. — AustralianRupert (talk) 13:29, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Walter Ernest Brown

Hi mate, could you maybe take another look at Walter Ernest Brown? I'm really not sure what else could be added to either the early life or inter war years, to be honest. The only thing I think that could be added to the early life section is what school he went to, but that doesn't seem to be included in any of the sources. The inter war years section is the same really. While it is small, it actually covers everything that could be said, I believe. I've now clarified that he was in the water-baliff job right up until 1940 when he re-enlisted, so there is not really anything else I feel that could be added. — AustralianRupert (talk) 13:54, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

  • Howdy, yeah there is not much further info out there. I had a look at both the Australian Dictionary of Biography and Wigmore's 'They Dared Mightily' and I couldn't find any more that can be added. Have reassessed as a B now. Take it easy (and get some sleep tonight... there were a few typos in No. 6 Commando)! Anotherclown (talk) 10:37, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Cheers, I just had a look at No. 6 Commando again and wow, some of that was bad. But yet, here I am again on wiki and its nearly midnight. Damn. Thanks for the tweaks. — AustralianRupert (talk) 13:44, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Talk headers

Hi, mate. Just be careful with adding talk headers to talk pages. I don't have an issue with it (as I was doing it myself), but apparently its a contentious issue. Not sure why to be honest, but apparently they are only meant to be added to articles with high levels of traffic or if issues develop on the talk page (so after the horse has bolted). To be honest it seems like a non-controversial issue that has been made controversial for its own sake, but there it is. Someone left a message on my talk page, warning me not to add them unless there was a reason to do so. The debate is included here: Template_talk:Talkheader. Anyway, take care. 6th Brigade (Australia)

Hi, mate. I can't seem to find the 6th Brigade's divisional allocation after 1948. I suspect that it was 1st Division, but I'm not sure. Do you have anything that could clarify this? The Palazzo book might. — AustralianRupert (talk) 15:46, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

According to Palazzo page 209 - 6th Bde was part of 3rd Div in 1948. From my very brief research it looks like it stayed in 3rd Div until it was disbanded in 1991, when 6th Bde became the Ready Reserve Bde in 2nd Div (see Kuring 'Red Coats to Cams' page 403). BTW you're welcome to borrow a few books if it will help. As long as you can protect them from the Destructor Bub of course... hahah. Anotherclown (talk) 09:16, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, that would be great. Thanks for the info. I've updated the article a bit. Can you check the details for the Kuring book, if you get a chance. I just put in the details from Google Books, and didn't have a publisher location. Cheers. — AustralianRupert (talk) 11:00, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
No worries, done now. Looks good BTW. Anotherclown (talk) 11:11, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

You had moved this list to "Indian" thinking it was a typo. It isn't a typo, it's the standard naming convention for cricket lists for all country teams, so I've moved it back. Also, to confirm, I've opened a discussion at WT:CRICKET#MOS naming. cheers. -SpacemanSpiffCalvinHobbes 15:14, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

No worries, my apologies. I have to admit to being a newbie on the Cricket project but it seems a weird convention. Anotherclown (talk) 08:42, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
NP, I just knew the convention, I didn't know the reason until the above discussion at WT:CRICKET either. cheers. -SpacemanSpiffCalvinHobbes 15:56, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Just wondering whether the Battle of Chuan-Ni referred to in the requested articles of WikiProject Military history/Australian military history task force and your user page, is actually supposed to be the Battle of Chuam-ni. I cannot find any information on the Battle of Chuan-Ni. Kind Regards Newm30 (talk) 03:58, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Battle of Hat Dich

Hi, mate just to let you know a new article has been created for Battle of Hat Dich. I found it in the list of articles without task force. Are you working on one offline for this? Anyway, its still a stub so if you are working on something its not the end of the world. — AustralianRupert (talk) 07:27, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm, this is a problem. The RAR battle honour 'Hat Dich' actually relates to Operation Goodwood (3 December 1968 − 19 February 1969), this article deals with Operation Camdem in 1969... going to need to do some thinking about this... cheers. Anotherclown (talk) 07:46, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Hey mate, I have proposed a move. Please see the talk page and let me know what you think at Talk:Battle of Hat Dich. Thanks again. Anotherclown (talk) 08:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Just left a response to your proposed move on Talk:Battle of Hat Dich. Kind Regards Newm30 (talk) 08:48, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

I have just moved article known as Battle of Hat Dich to Operation Camden (1969). This clears the way for you to create Operation Goodwood (1969) and maybe we could reuse Battle of Hat Dich as a disambiguation page that clarifies that 5RAR refer to Operation Camden (1969) as Battle of Hat Dich and that the Battle Honour refers to Operation Goodwood (1969) and assigned to units which participated in that operation. Why couldn't the Australian Army be more clear or am I asking too much. Regards Newm30 (talk) 02:25, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

re Battle of Biti Paka

I've put this on hold, 'cause it's in need of work. I haven't read MacKenzie, but it looks like all the missing information is in there...what did you think of this article? Auntieruth55 (talk) 22:25, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi. When I originally rewrote the article in May this year I never really intended on it going through the GA process just yet but it seems to have been nominated by another user none-the-less. I was really just trying to write a quick summary of a battle that facinated me due to its relative obscurity. Of course I appreciate you taking the time to review it and I'm doing a bit of work on it now. Unfortunately after tommorrow I will be off-line for the next 6 weeks with work. As such I don't think it will make the grade anytime soon unless someone else picks up the article and runs with it. I will go through MacKenzie and see what else I can add now though. Cheers. Anotherclown (talk) 23:07, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
If you want, I could just not pass it, and you can work on it later.  ??? Auntieruth55 (talk) 23:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Might be necessary. Lets see what I get done today... I have the day off so I will focus on it for the next couple of hours at least. Even if I make some bold changes to take care of some of the issues you identified and I'll try and rope in a few other editors to copy edit it and attack it whilst I'm gone. Who knows it might make the grade... (Trying to be optimistic). I'm currently hammering away on it off-line. Thanks again. Anotherclown (talk) 23:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, the link to http://www.deutsche-schutzgebiete.de/neuguinea-english.htm that you put on Battle of Bita Paka doesn't seem to be working (it's redirecting me to [1]), so I removed it. Also, even if the link was correct, the whole whole reference would be incorrect, because when you use {{cite web}}, you have to specify at least title and should also fill in other parameters.
