Hello. I wanted to let you know that in your recent contributions to Ashraful Islam Jhohan, you seemed to act as if you were the owner of the page. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. This means that editors do not own articles, including ones they create, and should respect the work of their fellow contributors. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 23:29, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, AnikaZaman24. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Also read WP:OWN Joseph2302 (talk) 22:13, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have no affiliation with the subject. I am a new writer at wikipedia and I wanted to take over this article. AnikaZaman24 (talk) 22:16, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- People don't "take over" articles, as per WP:OWN. And what you're doing is clearly trying to edit as a proxy for them, which still comes under COI. The artixle has been edited by COI editors, so the tag is correct. I assume you came to Wikipedia after their social media posts about this article? Joseph2302 (talk) 22:20, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have no affiliation with them and I did not come here because of any social media posts. I simply want to better this article and I am not acting as any proxy for them. The article was edited by COI editors and they will no longer edit it in the future. I will edit this article from a neutral point of view and for that the tag should be removed please. COI is resolved as per the terms and conditions of Wikipedia. AnikaZaman24 (talk) 22:28, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- The COI tag should stay until the article is cleaned up. And there's no way you can know they'll never edit again, unless you know them/have spoken to them (in which case you would have a COI). Remove the tag again, and I'll report you to WP:ANI to be blocked. It's disruptive, and you don't own the page, and the page needs cleaning up (or hopefully, it'll be deleted soon and then all the nonsense editors can leave).
