To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}}
on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.
Please remember to:
- Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes
~~~~
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp. - Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
Updating caps and stats
[edit]Hello, I'm Robby.is.on. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.
You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update=
or |pcupdate=
parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update=
or |ntupdate=
parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Robby.is.on (talk) 22:01, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
- I've updated the timestamp for you at László Bénes. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 22:01, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
Re: Regarding the replacement of CA Hanoi from Hanoi Police FC
[edit]Hello Anhp7,
I appreciate your contributions on regarding the appellation of "Cong An Ha Noi FC" recently. I know you are being reasonable saying using the term "Hanoi Police" as a English translation for "Công An Hà Nội", because I myself attempted to change the page's name to "Hanoi Public Security FC" around February this year. I am aware about the difference between "Police" (cảnh sát) and "Public Security" (công an).
However, following the Wikipedia's verifiability policy, all informations made have to be based on reliable sources. For this reason, the name "Hanoi Police" has been adopted because it is the official English name of "Công An Hà Nội" given by the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Football Federation, even though I agree with you that it is a poor translation. Here some articles:
https://en.bocongan.gov.vn/news-events/hanoi-police-football-club-makes-debut-t9679.html
https://en.cand.com.vn/public-security-forces/minister-to-lam-meets-with-hanoi-police-football-club-i594946/
http://en.vff.org.vn/v-league-2023-hanoi-police-club-lifts-the-championship-trophy/
In fact, historically, the term "Police" was already used to designate "Công An" in Vietnamese. In South Vietnam's 1956 & 1960 Asian Cup squad the team "Công An" was already referred as "Police".
