Italian squads

[edit]

Certainly what I have been in need of lately is the guidance of someone who knows better the continuous goings-on of Italian football. I did take these from a source (ESPN Soccernet) and backed most of these up with Voetbal International. But if you could help these teams' data along, this would be cool.

Feel free to update User:Bobo192/Italian soccer as you see fit. Thank you for letting me know that my data was out-of date. Bobo192 12:49, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Serie A

[edit]

The reason I changed it is because some of the pages (Torino, Treviso) were changed while others weren't. I do agree with you, so I will revert everything where it should be. --DR31 (talk) 21:16, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Scudetto

[edit]

The only reason I'm asking this is because I'm sure I know the answer, but would like some back-up confirmation. On the page for defunct team Napoli Soccer, it uses the word scudettos. Is the correct word to use in this situation scudetti, or is scudettos also acceptable? I don't really want to make an edit which would expose my ignorance in Italian. Thank you. Bobo. 20:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I assumed. I think since it's an Italian word, the Italian plural belongs. Feel free to edit it if you believe the same, but if you think it should be left, then that's okay. Bobo. 20:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perugia

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you edited Perugia to note that they have essentially been dropped down to Serie C1, because of financial problems I'm guessing - can you provide a source (I want to read more about it!)? Also - do you know anymore about the other teams in financial problems (see the bottom of the Serie B page)? It would be nice to know exactly what is going on, UK media on the subject is pretty non-existant (apart from the Genoa bribery scandal). Cursive 17:45, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Football club template

[edit]

No problem, Angelo. I had nothing to do with changing the template to add shirt information. I did, however, edit several team pages to include the shirt suppliers and sponsors. — Dale Arnett 19:08, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mazara article

[edit]

Ciau Angelo,

Would you consider aligning the Mazara (Mazzara) articles on the English and Sicilian versions of Wikipedia? Combined they might make it a little more substantial. Also I'll see if I can dig out some photos. I wondered if the unfinished autostrada might merit a mention as it is at least as interesting as lu Castellu Normannu. Was it built to facilitate the transport of fish or heroin and why was it never completed at the port end? Now there's a discussion! Broken template

[edit]

Arsenal_F.C.#Current_squad now looks decidedly broken. Perhaps we should discuss the extra on loan informaiton in the template before making radical changes? Qwghlm 14:46, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing. I would really prefer some additional discussions over adding new variables to the template, btw. There are many kinds of extra information (loans, captaincy, will not join the club until the next transfer window, etc.) that can be added, and I think it could make the template too complicated if we included variables for all of these. Qwghlm 14:52, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Take note the item you reverted was actually a revert of previous vandalism. if you read the article history you would have noted that the text you deleted is a factual item and had been on the page since it's inception. Do not revert items unless you know what it is you are reverting.

    • Angelo: the item you reverted was itself a revert of previous vandalism. Your revert returned the page to it's vandalised state, which I have now corrected. Huddersfield is actually the largest town in Europe that has not taken city status, reffered to later in the aticle. Also please note User86.2.137.29 is a proxy address used by a national network. to block that would block multiple users from the site. Richard Harvey 10:51, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for Paolo Borsellino

[edit]

Hello, good work on Paolo Borsellino, and thanks for the contribution. However, you forgot to add any references to the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. From what websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Paolo Borsellino? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? You can simply add links, or there are several different citation methods list at WP:CITET. Thanks! Lupin|talk|popups 20:00, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Genoa Cricket & Football Club

[edit]

User:CapPixel has changed Genoa Cricket & Football Club to a redirect to Genoa C.F.C. (Genoa C.F.C. was orignally the redirect). He then copied all the information from Genoa Cricket & Football Club to Genoa C.F.C. However, the talk page is still at Genoa Cricket & Football Club and the offical name as listed on the Genoa website is Genoa Cricket & Football Club. I would have changed them back but I'm not sure how the current football project deals with the names of teams and this may be a valid move. Thanks. ArbCom elections

[edit]

Thanks for your vote in the ArbCom elections. My "reluctance to run" seems to have weighed heavier in your mind than in mine, so I just want to give you a slightly fuller explanation (I wanted to keep to 250 words in the opening statement). The reluctance was, as I said, because ArbCom is likely to be an arduous duty and will take away from the time I'm able to spend writing articles. It isn't because I am in any way equivocal about wanting to serve on ArbCom. I enjoy the practice of weighing the evidence and trying to reach consensus, and feel that serving on ArbCom I would be making a very positive contribution to Wikipedia. It occurs, however, that your reference to this may be a polite way of hiding a serious objection concerning how I might behave on ArbCom, and if this is so then I apologise for taking your time. David | Talk 19:26, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Angelo said: Hi Bobo, I've seen that you've written an article about Alessandro Boccolini. Well, he's a carneade, a nobody: third goalkeeper in a really minor Serie A team, with no presence in the league, and maybe going to be sold to some Serie C side during the current January market. I've seen you commented your contribution by referring to a "list of missing Italian footballers". Where is this list? There are so many other Italian footballers who deserve much more to have an article. I'm seriously thinking if it would be better to delete it.

Sure. Delete his for now. The list of missing Italian footballers is the complete list from the Italian Wikipedia, which I've loaded into a Spreadsheet, plus the list of players from the "Current First Team Squads" of Serie A teams, such as Ascoli. I'm not looking seriously towards really minor players for now, so sure, delete him for now, since there's very little to say about him.

I wouldn't mind adding him later on, however, if we find anything good to say about him, but there's very little I can do without research. Thank you. Bobo192. 02:43, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Angelo said: Thanks, Bobo. I've submitted a speedy deletion request for the article right now.

Cool. I'll write down my list of players to be added quite soon and I'll add them to my sandbox as I did the German players. Bobo192. 02:54, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Beer Categories

[edit]

It has been suggested by User:BrianSmithson that the Beer and brewery categories should be renamed. The proposal has been supported by User:Syrthiss, and supported and expanded by myself. The notion is that the regional categories should follow the format of "Beer and breweries in Africa" /Europe/Asia/North America/South America/Oceania. "Brewers and breweries" could also be renamed "Beer and breweries by region". And all the countries should also be renamed (and merged if needed) as, for example, "Beer and breweries of Germany", "Beer and breweries of Britain", "Beer and breweries of Poland". The word in each case would be beer rather than beers to allow for general articles on beer culture in each region as well as individual beers.

Favorite Songs

My survey has changed. I am now continuing my mission for the best songs, but now I am accepting all genres. I'm giving you a chance to revote for your top ten favorite songs of any genres (not just classic rock which is still the best). I've made a executive decision to keep the existing survey results and just add on to that with the new entries. My feeling for doing this is because classic rock is the most influential genre in music currently so it should be expressed more in the survey. Serie B

[edit]

I hope this is the correct way to message you back. If not, I apologize. As for my edit of the Serie B listings, I realized a few days later that your chart was appearing in various pages in its original form, and regretted having made the change. I still think the little stars are too similar to the little circles and you need to look twice to figure out who has been promoted and who has been relegated. Thats the only reason I made the change. But I agree that the charts should be all the same. I did not know that any page your edit is untouchable, sorry. --juve2000 19:41, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

I am messaging you by editing your 'discussion page'. Is this how this is supposed to be done? Please let me know. Like I said, over-all I do agree with you, enough said. Italian commune template

[edit]

Yeah, I like it also. As you could have noticed, I was the one adding 90% of the current version templates to Italan communes entries. What do I have to do from now on? If you can ascertain me that you'll be able to add the new template to ALL the communes having it currently, I'll start to use the new one in my next additions. Remeber you must provide also the equivalent of Template:City IT3 for coat arms of less than 140px size. Ciao and good work! --Attilios 23:41, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Italian Categorization Scheme

[edit]

There is a lot of conversation going on about how Italian towns/cities/provinces should be categorized at Category_talk:Cities_and_towns_in_Italy. You might want to check it out and weigh in on the subject. There might be big structural changes. - AKeen 03:48, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should Roberto Maltagliati and Luigi Sartor have their own article ? i can't find their current club, would you like to create article for them? Her is some materials

Italian communes

[edit]

Ciao! nice adding the position on the maps. The only request I have is that you verify that the inclusion of images does not create blank spaces when other pics were already present!! Bye and good work.--Attilios 00:49, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How to put the coat of arms in small size? --Attilios 11:49, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is there an easy way to compute the mapx field from the coordinates in grades-minutes-second? --Attilios 12:03, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to other pictures present in the article. If you add the image of location of the city, this can create blank spaces if there are other images placed in the text. Ciao!!--Attilios 13:46, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Football transfers

Wikipedia:WikiProject Football Transfers

Just to say to take a look at the above and add in the talk page what you want to say.

I create the list, because someone likes User:Nufc2006 and User:Oldelpaso requet/removed the transfer list from main article (Or it should moved but not deleted). Matt86hk talk 09:46, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Liverpool F.C. Reserves

[edit]

You recently voted to delete and merge the above article. I was just wondering if you were aware that much the information contained in the article was originally in the main article, and was removed because the main article was bloated out of all control, and its editors have regularly been advised of the need to make it shorter. One way of doing this was by moving important elements into seperate articles where they would have room to develop on their own. I think that this has been shown to be successful in this case. To move it back to the article would necessitate the loss of information about a team which is regularly watched by 1000s of people, and would therefore meet notability criteria in its own right. I would very much like you to reconsider, or suggest grounds for development of the article that might make you reconsider. If not, I respect your decision, and happy editing. Robotforaday 19:24, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. I respect your decision, although I certainly do not agree with it ;) Hope we cross paths again on a matter where we can work together and not against eachother. Robotforaday 19:41, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Italian players with retired numbers

[edit]

I am trying to find references for all the players listed on Retired numbers in football (soccer), to verify whether their numbers have definitely been retired or whether they've just not been given to anyone else yet. I am struggling to find sources for some of the Italian ones, as I don't speak any Italian. Any help would be appreciated. Oldelpaso 17:50, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Garrincha has been selected as this week's collaboration. Please do help in working to improve it.

I remember having a similar problem before with another player, Alessandro Boccolini, where we decided to delete the article on him beacuse he was effectively a "nobody" within the world of Italian football. A couple of days ago, someone deleted Bianchi's page because he did not meet WP:BIO. Since I remember you dealt with the previous situation well, could you please give me an opinion on this matter? Do you think Rolando Bianchi should have his own article? Thank you. Bobo. 03:13, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Angelo said: Not just he can, he should have his own article: he's currently the top Serie A goalscorer (4 goals in 3 matches), as well as a key player for the Under-21 Italian team.

Thank you very much, I've reinstated the article, see what you think about the information I've included. I'm also going to keep an eye on the current Serie A standings to see what current players still need articles.

As for Alessandro Boccolini, is he still not worth adding? What do you think? Bobo. 17:13, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Angelo said:
Looks good; anyway, I'll expand it later. About Boccolini, he's still the third goalkeeper for Ascoli, so I don't think he deserves his own article. Bianchi is a regular for his team (and the Italy U-21), Boccolini definitely not.

Thank you for your judgement. I will continue to look on the list of Italian footballers at it.wiki to see if there are any more high priority players which need adding in the future. Bobo. 20:27, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About Scilla, Italy

[edit]

Hi Angelo, my name is Giovanni. I write from Scilla, Italy.

Thank you--87.16.119.126 13:59, 26 September 2006 (UTC)(Gp 1980)[reply]

Palermo's jersey

[edit]

Hello. I know that Palermo's jersy has black spikes, but the consensus reache in Template_talk:Football_kit is to put only kit colours, not technical sponsor decorations. I hope you will agree, or at least discuss the matter in that talk page. --Panarjedde 20:29, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is the problem?--Panarjedde 18:08, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was referrng to your choice of words, "As I'm seeing a different evolution in the issue than Panarjedde's claimed one". Even if we disagree on the matter, I was always polite with you (as far as I remember, but feel free to show me the opposite).--Panarjedde 21:06, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Read again what you wrote, you did not say that now the things are changed but rather that they are different from what I claimed them to be.--Panarjedde 12:37, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I feel insulted by what you wrote. Instead of answering on that page asking you to prove your claim, I assumed good faith on your behalf, and asked you think again about what you wrote. And you refused. It is clear that we do not share the same idea of how to behave in this context.--Panarjedde 12:43, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coppa Italia

[edit]

Just to say that when I created that template I only had the 2004/2005 season to present on it. It was someone else who added all the teams and every single season going back 70 years. I agree though, those teams shouldn't be on it and should be removed. Should keep the year though but remove most of the old ones until a page is actually done for some of the old ones. Hi... just thought I'd message you regarding this. The edit you made to the Juve article... I slightly modified the layout and made the text a bit smaller.. because its only supposed to be a brief summary of the players; linking to the related article. Serie A deletion

[edit]

You better have a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/La Liga 2006/2007 results December 2006. Basically a non footballing wikipedian has nominated the detailed results sections of Serie A and La Liga for deletion. I'm personally totally against them being deleted. I've voted to keep the pages and I just thought I'd highlight this as you might want to vote either way on this. Thanks Niall123 18:38, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Amato, Giuliano.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Amato, Giuliano.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 01:01, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--necronudist 16:34, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
