ROM E-Volunteering
[edit]Hi, I was wondering if you were still working on any articles or edits for the ROM E-Volunteering project. I am taking over the project from Ryan and I am trying to gauge who is currently working on what. Thank you so much for the volunteering you have done so far we really appreciate it! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks MJMcGowan (talk) 18:35, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]Hey AngelKelley,
I'm so glad you're e-volunteering for the IMA to work in Wikipedia! There are two other users that have been working on this project -- one who just started recently User:DebraHardy, and User:Zambonia who has been working at it longer. Your first article in your sandbox looks good -- check out the articles (and maybe say hello to them) they have written also and don't be afraid to copy techniques from other articles. Best, --RichardMcCoy (talk) 00:20, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Richard, I'm glad to hear my first attempt is off to a good start. In terms of publishing the page officially, do we need your approval first or should we feel free to upload sandbox pages once we feel comfortable with them? --AngelKelley (talk) 00:48, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, you don't need my approval at all. I'll keep an eye on it. --RichardMcCoy (talk) 12:45, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Thanks! --AngelKelley (talk) 15:59, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

- Looks like you're fine on the number and variety of sources, which is the flaw most likely to send editors into a frothing rage. I do have a tiny bit more information from the rare 1988 collection handbook Richard lent me: because he's a monk he has "none of the ornate jewelry that is characteristic of a Bodhisattva," "Stylistically, this statue reflects the transition between late Fujiwara and early Kamakura period modes of expression," and "The head and torso are fashioned in a highly stylized geometric manner that dominates Japanese Buddhist art of the eleventh and twelfth centuries." on p. 166. I am enamored of the citation templates: [1]. Zambonia (talk) 22:37, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- Zambonia, thank you so much for looking over my work and for offering some extra tidbits! I was able to use what you cited, plus add in a little bit extra to create a Historical information section. Also, the citation templates are awesome and are huge time savers. Thanks again! --AngelKelley (talk) 21:00, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- It sounds much more impressive than the website's info, but I'm not sure there's much that's really new for the guang. Telling us what the heck that inscription says would clearly be too helpful.
"This ceremonial wine vessel with a removable lid demonstrates the complex sculptural qualities so often exhibited in the bronze casting of ancient China. As in many early bronzes, the decor is animated with zoomorphic designs such as birds and dragons, set against a background filled with fine spiral patterns, and the vessel itself is a composite of animal forms. Precious bronze vessels like this were made for the highest levels of aristocracy and were intended solely for sacrificial ceremonies for the ancestors of the ruling elite. On the inside of the cover is an inscription, presumably the name of the clan or the person to whom the vessel is dedicated." Zambonia (talk) 19:51, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Do you think?
[edit]We should start putting the Nav. Template on the bottom of all artworks now?
- I almost did, but wasn't sure if you wanted any more changes made. I'm good with adding it to existing pages though. I can go through the IMA list of artworks and start attaching it to pages if you would like. --AngelKelley (talk) 17:51, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Do it! Also, please know that you are free to do whatever you want or think is a good idea. I'll keep my eye out for a collections handbook to send you, also. --RichardMcCoy (talk) 18:26, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Awesome, I'll get to it now. A handbook would be great. You never realize how limited the Internet can be until you need information on something obscure and/or extremely specific!--AngelKelley (talk) 18:29, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Also, on second thought, maybe we should just merge the new template into the one that I made for outdoor artworks (that way all of those would automatically be correct. Thoughts?--RichardMcCoy (talk) 18:31, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- You're right! I forgot some pages already have that one attached. I can merge them no problem, and then add that template to the pages. --AngelKelley (talk) 18:38, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Did you know?
[edit]I nominated your Krahn people article for the "Did you know?" section of the Main Page of Wikipedia. They don't always make it there and sometimes it takes a long time, but you can see the nomination here: Template:Did you know nominations/Krahn people. --RichardMcCoy (talk) 11:48, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oh wow, very cool! Thanks for the nomination. Even if it doesn't make it, it's nice to have the vote. --AngelKelley (talk) 15:49, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

For a thorough and well-referenced expansion to Krahn people, an article which deserved one. I hope it'll be the first of many! Khazar2 (talk) 17:48, 19 May 2012 (UTC) |
Wow! Thank you very much. It's always wonderful to hear that other people appreciate your work. :) --AngelKelley (talk) 18:13, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for June 28
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Vase with carved peony scrolls, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jin dynasty (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please
[edit]Do not take my comments at the proposal for the collections care project proposal the wrong way. I have a mere pass degree level museums education, and a higher post-grad experience from fieldwork in a south east asian country in a complex sort of way - so we are in a vaguely similar set of universes - but I would prefer off wiki conversations regardless projects and some various aspects of wp work - but do not feel you have to contact... I see some projects that sit in stalemate for years after they have been created and am somewhat sceptical about enthusiasms in specialist areas ... so do not get me wrong - if it fits with your higher ed - go for it! cheers SatuSuro 08:02, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Collections Care project
[edit]Hi. This project looks great! A small problem though - you posted a notice at WP:CBB, but that system is no longer in use. You should instead request a mention in the next issue of the Signpost, by posting at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom/WikiProject desk. Thanks :) –Quiddity (talk) 22:02, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up! I will post to the new page instead :) AngelKelley (talk) 19:26, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Ritual wine server (guang), Indianapolis Museum of Art, 60.43
[edit]The article Ritual wine server (guang), Indianapolis Museum of Art, 60.43 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- WP:NOTCATALOGUE. The article is nice but this is simply a catalogue entry for a museum - or should be offered to them if it isn't. If not, the title should be enormously simplified, nobody will ever search for it like that.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Si Trew (talk) 22:23, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
- This article was completed as part of the WikiProject Public art, e-volunteer program at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I am no longer an e-volunteer with the WikiProject, but I would imagine they might be interested in knowing one of their articles is marked for deletion. There are about 100 works of public art within the museum collection that were chosen for article creation, most of which have long-since gone active. Please feel free to contact the Wikipedia:WikiProject Public art leads with additional information. Thank you. AngelKelley (talk) 23:05, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
