Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Andyvrabel, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Adding content to WP

[edit]

Hello, I have again reverted (removed) your edits to the article Carnivore. I left a message on the article's talk page back in October when the edits were first introduced. Please read it.

Wikipedia has stringent requirements regarding sourcing of content. Using a different encyclopedia (Britannica) as a source for this encyclopedia isn't acceptable. Also, you linked to a cosmetic dentistry site as a source regarding carnivore teeth - also not acceptable. The tone of the content isn't appropriate either, and there are grammar and spelling errors.

I understand how frustrating it can be to put the effort into new content for an article; however, Wikipedia's standards and policies always have primacy. Please read up on reliable sourcing. I would also recommend that if you do restore any of the content, do so in small chunks (separate edits). There appeared to be some acceptable content in your edits, but it puts too great a burden on other editors to parse through all of the new material and edit it down to an acceptable level. Small edits, perhaps one per sourced portion, make it easier for other editors to collaboratively fine-tune and hone the additions where needed.

Again, I do understand any frustration you may feel. As the saying goes, 'been there, done that'. I would be happy to assist in the editing process - but again - small bites. Add one bit of sourced new content. Wait a bit to see if there's a response (give it a day or so, since editors live all around the world, so may not be around at the time you publish). cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 23:57, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
