Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Andreas Wirth, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Le Castellet. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Hello, Andreaswirthpr. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Andreas Wirth, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. NewEnglandYankee (talk) 19:18, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No Conflict of Interest - Just Making the Article ACCURATE

[edit]

Thank you for your note NewEnglandYankee but there is no conflict of interest - there is no damage done to this page/article or the person it is about. Someone earlier this year deleted a LARGE amount of content about Andreas Wirth's career history - I have just restored the information and updated not only the content but also brought it up to date with his latest career details and made the tables more accurate and easy to read. Please tell me what is wrong with this? I have included links to Andreas Wirth's official fan webpages and social media - this only benefits his fans - there is no ill will or profit to be had in updating this information. Please explain why you have a problem with the edits? I invite you to look up other race car driver's wikipedia articles - they have links to the driver's official website, etc. I understand that there is a large amount of content that was changed today - unfortunately this was necessary in order to provide accurate and detailed information about Andreas Wirth. As an example I invite you to peruse the article about James Hinchcliffe - race car driver - Andreas Wirth's article is now brought up to date to look much like James' with a chronological history of his racing career. I'm very confused why you would have issue with the changes. Please advise. Andreaswirthpr (talk) 20:17, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You're commenting about the content of the changes. The conflict-of-interest policy–which I strongly suggest you read–says that if you have any connection with the subject, you probably should not make any changes to the article, regardless of content. Your user name makes it clear that you are performing PR on behalf of Andreas Wirth. Any editor would be justified in reverting your changes on these grounds alone.
However, in addition to this, your content is not suitable for an encyclopedia. You have:
* Removed citations, and provided no citations of your own;
* Referred to the article's subject by his first name, which is not appropriate for an encyclopedia;
* Introduced puffery and promotional language, such as "he proudly finished in ninth place on one of the most difficult tracks on the schedule";
* Generally written in a style that would be appropriate for a fan site ("The 2009 race season marked the beginning of a new journey for Andreas ..."), which Wikipedia is not.
Your edits have already been removed by another editor [1] for these very reasons. The notice I gave you above is a standard template; it applies to everyone on Wikipedia. Please follow some of the links I've given you, particularly in light of the above: "editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted". Questionable Past Edits and Current Edits as of September 1 2017

[edit]

The changes made today would not have been made NewEnglandYankee if it weren't for the fact that someone deleted large chunks of information ... yet no one was obviously taken to task for that user deleting tables worth of racing statistics.

I apologize if the language used is considered "puffery" - this can obviously be changed, and I've done so now.

Additionally I'd like to let you know that some time ago someone made a change to the .de page saying that Andreas had died in a car crash - I'm not sure if you understand how disturbing these kinds of inaccuracies could be to a racing driver!? The family was receiving phone calls about it. I find it ridiculous that Wikipedia doesn't care about such edits and obviously they weren't verified.

I'll be the first to admit to you that I am not a Wikipedia guru, but I'm trying ... and I mean no offence by trying to make Wikipedia an accurate source of information. I only started watching what Wikipedia said about Andreas Wirth after the above noted false information was posted about his death - I trust you could understand?

Regarding your note ...

  • Removed citations, and provided no citations of your own; (If I did it was quite by accident. There are no additional citations to add, but I did add one back in that a previous user had deleted)
  • Referred to the article's subject by his first name, which is not appropriate for an encyclopedia; (This can certainly be fixed. The party the article is about actually finds it disrespectful not to be mentioned by his first name, but obviously if Wikipedia demands it, it can be changed ... and I have now done so.)
  • Introduced puffery and promotional language, such as "he proudly finished in ninth place on one of the most difficult tracks on the schedule"; (again - this can easily be amended - was not aware that the writing style was under such tight scrutiny - this type of language has been changed per your request.)
  • Generally written in a style that would be appropriate for a fan site ("The 2009 race season marked the beginning of a new journey for Andreas ..."), which Wikipedia is not. (I have amended these as well to comply with your suggestions.)

PLEASE NOTE I was not writing this to "publicize" Andreas Wirth but rather... simply trying to ensure accurate information was available about him via Wikipedia - which I thought Wikipedia would appreciate. I honestly thought that Wikipedia encouraged authorities on a topic to edit and monitor such information. Obviously by my username I am NOT trying to hide the fact that I know the individual.

I have removed links to Andreas Wirth's social media outlets in case you feel that is promotional - they were only added as a service to anyone looking for information about him.

Thank you for your insight and I hope the additional changes made satisfy the issues of concern. Andreaswirthpr (talk) 22:17, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nicholas Harvey (Author) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Nicholas Harvey (Author), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello Andreaswirthpr. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Andreaswirthpr. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Andreaswirthpr|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Praxidicae (talk) 14:36, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is NOT a paid work. I met Nick Harvey many years ago and have been following his work. I am currently under lock down due to COVID-19 and had some time on my hands and felt he was worthy of a WikiPage so I gathered some personal information from him and created what you see. I have gone to great lengths to ensure all claims are substantiated with REAL links to prove his history.

Can you please explain your username and edits to Andreas Wirth? What is the PR bit? Praxidicae (talk) 14:53, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I used to be a PR consultant for a reacecar driver called Andread Wirth - that driver is inactive. I didn't bother setting up a new account with Wikipedia - perhaps I should have?

Yeah, you have a conflict of interest and are required to disclose as per WP:COI and WP:PAID. You've violated those terms by your edits even previously to the article - creating a new account won't change that. Praxidicae (talk) 15:03, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In simple language can you tell me exactly what I would need to add to the draft in order for it to meet your standards? I honestly do not understand what you require. I've tried to read up in your instructions about posting new pages but have found myself simply going in circles. I also don't understand how you are saying the statements in the article are unsubstantiated - I've provided links to articles online by outside sources that verify his history. I'm not trying to be confrontational here - honestly trying to understand what I need to do. I was simply trying to do a nice thing for someone. I believe I've added the code at the top of the article that you require.
