Adoption

[edit]

Hey Andreasr2d2! I noticed that you have requested adoption on your user page. I would love to adopt you! I'd love to help to get you started on your way to becoming a brilliant Wikipedia editor. If you'd like to accept my offer of adoption, click the 'edit this page button at the top of the page, reply to my comment here and then click 'save page'. I look forward to getting to know you better. See you soon, Arctic Night 07:38, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to have that opportunity. Thank you! Andreasr2d2 (talk) 23:01, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Andreas, sorry for the slow response. I've been semi-active recently and your talk page must have slipped through my watchlist. I'd love to get started on the road to making you a great editor! First of all, I'd just like to ask you a few questions so I know what to focus on during your adoption:
  • Which of the following describes you? Feel free to choose more than one. Don't worry if you don't know what some of the terms below mean - I will explain them in due course.
  • a) I know how to make grammar and spelling edits
    b) I always use an edit summary
    c) I know what a header is and know how to use them
    d) I know how to reference something in the article space
    e) Given the opportunity, I would know how to contribute to an Articles for Deletion discussion
    f) I am familiar with the notability guideline
    g) I feel confident submitting articles to Did You Know

Thanks! Arctic Night 12:13, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response, Artic Night. I can do both a and b, but I'm a bit murky on the others. I would really like to learn how to edit articles for not only spelling and grammar, but also adding headers, citations, images, and such. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you. Thank you once again! Andreasr2d2 (talk) 18:11, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Andreas, I'd love to get started teaching you how to use headers. Click here and we will get started. Thanks, Arctic Night 12:59, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Andreas, congratulations, they're all correct. However, usually headers are not capitalised throughout ('Early Life' should be 'Early life'). That's OK though, as it's only a minor thing, and you've got the basic skills to create headers now anyway. Now I'd like to teach you how to add something to your watchlist. Click here and click 'watch', which appears a few places to the right of 'edit this page'. You have now added the page to your watchlist! That means that every time you or I edit that page, a record of this will appear on your watchlist, which is accessible by clicking 'my watchlist' at the top right-hand corner of the page. I would suggest checking your watchlist regularly, as it will alert you to whether I have responded to your answers over at your adoption page. This will eliminate the need for us to talk on talk pages. Let me know if you need any more assistance with this. If not, simply go back to your adoption page and respond to this message, which I have copied to over there. Arctic Night 05:06, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

[edit]

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).
