Macedonia Greece

[edit]

Thanks Andreas for your kind comments, one quote is from the book in my possession, the other is from the internet. I realised that there must be several publications because the pages differ from one to the other. I will look into it. Politis (talk) 09:16, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good. I think the following book can be usefully to other Greek articles, namely Greece and Macedonian Region: History of the Greek Revolution compiled from official documents of the Greek government, New York 1829. It quotes on the first page: that "The present divisions of Greece, adopted by the [1829] provisional government, are the following: Eastern Hellas, Western Hellas, Morea, Epirus, Thessaly, Macedonia, Crete, and the Islands." I actually have that book (first edition) and will try to download that page on wikipedia. Politis (talk) 14:57, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't download the book, it is online anyway, and I already gave you the link before on your talk page. See here and here. ~The book is dated 1828, not 1829 (see title page), so how can it have information on a 1829 government? The provisional government must have already existed in 1828.  Andreas  (T) 15:18, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's it. In fact, I think my copy is even hand dated 1828, difficult to make out. But the names of the 'divisions' are in capital letters so that there is no mitaking how the Greek felt or how those western authors/scholars saw the situation. It's an interesting book. That's fine and I request to put the link to the moved text in Prominence section of the page at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Hanuman_Chalisa so that reader knows where to find the text. Thanks and God bless... 121.241.127.25 (talk) 06:15, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is already a link to the original text at a prominent positiona at the upper right corner of the page. Also, you are welcome (like everybody else) to modify the article as long as your changes observe Wikipedia policies and guidelines.  Andreas  (T) 13:38, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Eleuterio Soria has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Simply a crime report. We are not a news aggregate. No assertion that this case had any enduring impact.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Evliye –i Selase

[edit]

Evliye –i Selase is a given name forth earea which Consists of Kars, Ardahan and Batum under The Otoman Empire. After The Russo –Turkish War of 1877-1878, this region has remained under the Russian administration during 40 years as the war compensation. This region was joined again to Turkey with the Treaty ofbrest-Litovsk which was done between Turkey and Russia. Evliye-i Selase is exist in the boundary of Misak-ı Milli which was formed in the course of Turkish War of Independence. But Soviet Russia had a tendency to get Again Batum at the first occasion. Batum had a great importance in the negotiations between Turkish Government and Soviet Russia. With the Treaty of Moscow 16 March, 1921, Kars and Ardahan were left in Turkey but Turkey had to leave Batum in Russia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.100.42.44 (talk) 21:50, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello AndreasJS! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 338 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Pit Bull

[edit]

The "page deletion" notice on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Pit_Bull was intentional - the page was listed at Miscellany for deletion as the AfD was created specifically by a disruptive editor. The AfD notice was removed from the Pit Bull article for the same reason. I am going to re-insert the MfD notice (you can find the conversation about that issue at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Pit_Bull). Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 14:49, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please, explain me what is going on here. From what I understand, the article was first nominated for deletion by an anonymous user[1], then the afd tag was removed by you[2]. Your argument is that the AfD was malformed, but i could not find a notice about in which way it was malformed. If you have issued such a notice, please put a link to it into the afd page and into the new afd page that you created to delete the afd page. As an administrator, your actions should be as transparent as possible, because else your actions could be misunderstood and you could alienate other editors. Please, understand my concern as a long-standing editor of Wikipedia that is totally uninvolved in the dispute abut dogs.  Andreas  (T) 15:15, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comment. When I removed the original AfD notice, it was because the IP seemed to be being disruptive (if I remember correctly, the original AfD was called Pit Bull (2nd nomination) even though there had been no AfD prior to this. The AfD was (and is not) formatted properly - there is no link to the article, and it is not listed at WP:AFD. As the IP user then used a new account to do exactly the same thing, then it seemed liked just more disruptive editing to make a point. The IP put the same text on the article's talk page (the correct procedure in this case), but did not allow people time to comment.
The AfD gives no policy-based reason for the nomination (and as a rule, nominations only need to be a couple of lines long - there is no specific guidelines on this, but if you need to create a page to explain why you are nominating the article, then it is probably not a sufficient reason for the article to be deleted!)
If the user wants the article renamed, or re-written, then the place to discuss this would be on the talk page, not nominating the article for deletion.
I have nominated the AfD at MfD - but if the wish is that the AfD should remain in place, I am quite happy to ensure that the AfD is properly formatted, and listed at WP:AFD (and also to insert relevant DELSORT notifications.
I hope that this explains my reasoning - if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask! I am not trying to hide anything, and am happy to explain any of my actions (as an editor or as an admin) to anyone! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 15:28, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.  Andreas  (T) 15:35, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have SNOW kept the AfD, formatted it correctly, listed it at WP:AFD and re-inserted the AfD link in the article. I have also unblocked the creator of the AfD with an apology. Thank you for contacting me - although as I said above, I have nothing to hide, that does not mean I won't ever make mistakes (either as an editor or as an admin!) and if I am in the wrong, I am happy to deal with it! Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 09:21, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:46, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ladin language

[edit]

Hey Andreas, may I ask what your sources for the vowels section are? I'm asking because I have no idea what sounds the diacritics used in this pdf are supposed to represent... --Mai-Sachme (talk) 14:53, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

O think it is quite obvious given the table 2.1 on page 24 of the Gramatica if compared with the IPA vowel chart in vowel. I did not bother with the unstressed vowels. Andreas  (T) 15:51, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, it's not obvious, since they don't use the IPA (and I'm very surprised about this, not to say bewildered), but quite obscure diacritics like the Ogonek and the Dot with a wide range of possible meanings. We could also assume that they meant e̞, œ, ɜ, æ, ɤ, o̞ or ʌ. And considering that they obviously don't care about proper IPA transcriptions, i and u could also be used instead of their respective -ATR equivalents ɪ and ʊ... I'm not sure about how to procede, but the section with its current content is at least questionable and just one potential interpretation of the source. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 16:28, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't speak any Ladin, so I cannot say anything from my own experiene. However, if you read the introduction of the phonematics section (Prinzips generai dla normazion, page 23), standard Ladin is a writing standard and the phonetic values of the phonemes depends on the native dialect of the reader. To find the actual sounds of Ladin words in various dialects see [3] (with audio samples), They use the Böhmer-Ascoli system, presumably identical with Teuthonista, [4] documented here. Although not documented I think the authors of the Gramatica used the same system.  Andreas  (T) 17:26, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your research, I was thinking about Rheinische Dokumenta, but Teuthonista is obviously closer. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 19:04, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, ɜ sounds more convincing than ə (but it's your original research, right?). But I removed it from the box, because it is not Standard Ladin. Otherwise we'd have to insert y, as well. --Mai-Sachme (talk) 19:02, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Μετά τα Φυσικά ως Μεταφυσικά

[edit]
