While there's a lot of work to be done, I am very impressed by your desire to edit and your thoughtfulness with receiving feedback on the Andre the Android draft and the short article! ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 11:16, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of fictional dogs in live-action film, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Papillon. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Can anyone help me improve a draft?

[edit]

I am working on a Pixar-related draft I created (specifically about André, the very first Pixar character), as its first submission was denied and some things needed to be improved. I want to ask two question: Which of the sources that appear in the draft are reliable and which are not? Who wants to help me find more sources to verify the draft's information? --André the Android(talk) 20:26, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The {{help me}} template is available to use for help with how to edit Wikipedia but it is not to be used to try to recruit editors to help with content. For that, perhaps you would find one of the relevant WikiProjects to be a better place. Figure out a relevant project and open a section on the talk page. As for the decline, the place to ask these question is the AfC help desk; alternatively, you can ask for clarification from the declining reviewer.
The notability of the subject of an article is an important thing to figure out before you begin a draft. Asking about whether sources are reliable is beside the point if you haven't figured out whether they help to establish that the subject is notable. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:45, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
One thing I forgot to mention. You should probably be aware of the Wikipedia concept of fancruft, which is a type of material to avoid. There are plenty of other places on the web, such as Fandom, where this kind of content is welcome. But if you have solid sources to support notability, even somewhat obscure subjects can have an article on Wikipeida. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:56, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I have received your answer and I did not know that the "Help me" template served simply to ask about how to edit Wikipedia. So the next time I use that template I won't recruit anyone. I wanted to comment on some things you said:
I remember that days ago I asked for help in the WikiProject Disney's talk page without receiving answers. Also, I was going to ask for help in either WikiProject Fictional Characters or WikiProject Animation's Pixar work group, but in the end I didn't. About notability, it seems that the draft fulfills WP:OBSCURE, like it did some articles about obscure characters who were the first to be created by some film studios (for example: Julius the Cat and Bosko are both the first characters to be created by Laugh-O-Gram Studio (The Walt Disney Company's precursor) and Warner Bros., respectively).
In the case of the sources, I admit how obscure is the fictional character, but there must be more sources which talks about André, although it is a difficult task. I don't know if the sources that verify more visually than textually can be worth (for example, in the draft, I added a The Adventures of André & Wally B.-themed entry from The Pixar Touch's official blog and a piece of news posted in RTVE, being the previous one that contains text talking about the short film's development but it helps to explain why André's torso is composed of a "teardrop" shape with two concept arts whereas the latter one doesn't mention the short in the text but it has a video which mentions the short film itself and shows the concept art where André is surfing), but I have to say that I have discovered two sources (specifically books) which would help verify where the character's name comes from: one is The Oxford Handbook of Sound Studies, a non-fiction book published by Oxford University Press, and the other one is Pixar with Lacan: The Hysteric's Guide to Animation, another non-fiction book which was published by Bloomsbury Publishing. Maybe these books that I have mentioned can be reliable and, if these really are, I will add them to the draft.
As for the fancruft, the reason why I included the fan animated series' existence in the draft is because I questioned about the mention of another animated series made by a Pixar fan in a section of Luxo Jr.'s article. Also, I have deteled all the "Unofficial media" subsection and merged the "Official media" with "In other media" before you mentioned the concept of fancruft and, yes, I am aware of the fancruft and the next time I shouldn't make a mistake like this.
In brief, thanks for your information! - --André the Android(talk) 21:49, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

(apologies if you've already fixed this issue)

Hello! I saw your Teahouse post and noticed that you had a custom signature. Unfortunately, it seems that the custom signature, because of an unclosed HTML tag, was doing weird things to the surrounding text (if you look at the Teahouse now, everything your signature and after has a different font size). While it's not a big deal, you might want to fix it so that you don't modify anything else.

You can set a custom signature in your preferences under the "User profile" tab; the below should work if you check the "Treat the above as wiki markup" box.

<span style="font-family: OCR A">[[User:André the Android|<span style="color:#ED1C24">'''André'''</span> <span style="color:#EEED09">the</span> <span style="color:#006400">'''Android'''</span>]]([[User talk:André the Android#top|talk]])</span>

This should look the same as your existing signature (I made a couple changes to fix the end-tag). After this, signing posts with ~~~~ should insert it.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Vahurzpu (talk) 06:31, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I just received your message. Well, for a reason why I put it like this is because it came out like this with disastrous results when I attempted to put {{User:André the Android/Sig}} 00:36, 26 December 2024 (UTC). So, I "solved" it by trying to put the appropriate font and making the text that puts the date and time slightly larger. I have to admit that by doing that in the parts where I talk in every talk page come out with awkward results.
In order words, the use of my signature's standalone functional subpage will only appear as a mere ornament in my user page's infobox as I will follow your advice. Thanks! --André the Android(talk) 14:59, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption message

[edit]

Hi, I'm The Aafī, and I've been editing the Wikipedia for about two years. I noticed your name at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user, besides the comment from ReaderofthePack. Since, I'm one of the adopters at WP:AAU, I thought to reach to you. Perhaps, I may be helpful. Regards, ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:42, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@TheAafi: Hello. Thanks for your offering, I will explain the reason why I seek adoption: all this originated from the first submission of a draft about a character from one of Pixar's first short films, which unfortunately was denied (the causes of this are many unreferred parts in the draft, the now-removed "Unofficial media" containing a non-notable animated fan web series and certain parts that often speaks more about the short film itself). That is why I had to comment to the person responsible for this, that I had to tell what I should do and she suggested me some stuff, including seeking adoption. In the end, I had to follow her advice because I don't have much experience on the web. And I have to admit that her "prophecy" had come true (I'm refering to the most recommended adopters part).
In brief, I was glad that there was someone who took an interest in me, that is to say, that I am going to be your disciple.--André the Android(talk) 21:30, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
