NLP

[edit]

Thanks for joining the discussion about improving the article on NLP. I do suggest that new editors even if you are a topic expert edit wikipedia more broadly in order to get a better understanding of the culture here. That said, the article on NLP does need to be improved but it has to be done using WP:FRINGE guidelines from a neutral point of view, WP:NPOV, and reliable sources according to their weight. The existing editors have sort of dug into their positions so any effort to change the article would need to involve the wikipedia dispute resolution processes. --Reconsolidation (talk) 08:40, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you help. Could you give me some insight into these processes . I find this whole thing daunting and inaccessible for normal humans. An adaptive system (talk) 07:59, 14 December 2012 (UTC) An adaptive system[reply]

Yet another puppet. Quite pathetic, indeed. GoodDay (talk) 12:17, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from personal insults. If I were a puppet I don't think I would have to ask for help figuring out how to use wikipedia guidelines on a talk page An adaptive system (talk) 12:30, 3 January 2013 (UTC)An adaptive system[reply]
Actually you might, I've know several do exactly that. However GoodDay, please cool it, you should not make an accusation against an individual editor without filing a SPA. ----Snowded TALK 16:55, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 06:27, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question

[edit]

Have you ever edited Wikipedia under another ID? Given the spate of new SPAs created recently (including you) and following the indefinite block for Reconsolidation I am thinking of asking for a general check of all editors active on the NLP site for possible sock puppets. Before doing that, given that you appear the most active, I thought it best to ask. If you have edited before then now is the time to declare it ----Snowded TALK 08:13, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have only ever edited talk pages if you can call that editing. Some times Wikipedia accuses me of edit warring when I am trying to comment. Other than my ip this is the only Identity I have ever had as far as I can recall. Though, Once I a long time ago I asked a question on the prog metal talk page But I don't think I created an account to do that (I can't recall for sure). Will EVERYBODY on the page be checked within a certain time period? An adaptive system (talk) 09:19, 5 January 2013 (UTC)An adaptive system[reply]
When one editor is banned and a new editor suddenly becomes active, editing on the same time zone then its always suspicious. That said I think there is a case to check out all the SPAs for socks against all known editors. Its not my call if it happens I can only make the case and see what the response is. If you edited as an IP then it would be good practice for you to reference that ----Snowded TALK 16:10, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just went through some thing like this : http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Enemesis/Archive my ip was 99.249.59.138. I made no edits to the article itself under that ip I stated on the NLP talk page that I created an account I still live in Canada. 58.107.228.205/Reconsolidation lives in Australia so does action potential(I believe) they are in different time zones. I think I have put up with enough accusations here. Do you really want to take this any further? An adaptive system (talk) 06:37, 6 January 2013 (UTC)An adaptive system[reply]
I'm thinking about it as a general check rather than specific accusations. We know there is a meat puppet problem, we may have sock puppets as well. The Comaze manifestations (of which Reconsolidation is the latest) generally edit from Sydney as you say. My purpose in posting here was to make you aware rather than to accuse. I'll assume you are not a sock based on the statements above. ----Snowded TALK 07:41, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
"When one editor is banned and a new editor suddenly becomes active, editing on the same time zone then its always suspicious." How much, specifically,of that general check has to do with My activity? To be honest I don't see a lot of other people talking on the talk page as of late. I'm assuming my actions Have in some way triggered suspicion I'd like to know where I stand An adaptive system (talk) 09:45, 6 January 2013 (UTC)An adaptive system[reply]
Well the one thing which does puzzle me (which is why I asked you the original question) is that your edits tend to run through from late PM GMT to early morning and later. That is more an antipodean editing pattern rather than Ottawa ----Snowded TALK 10:50, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am what you would call a "night person" I usually go to bed at 5:00 am at the earliest right now it is 5:32 at according to my clock. If you run an ip check it'll probably say I use rogers internet service, I believe that is a Canadian company. I could easily provide proof for this if you really need it, but is this suspicion really necessary? An adaptive system (talk) 10:38, 7 January 2013 (UTC)An adaptive system[reply]
Well if you look at the comments and links on the talk page of the latest SPA to arrive at the article you will see the reason for concern. I'm going to put together the complete list of editors (from all perspectives), reference the links to external recruitment sites and ask for a general sock puppet check on everyone. That way we might clear up some aspects of this. However the external NLP recruitment sites will mean that anyone coming here repeating their accusations is going to be treated with concern. Especially as we have had multiple IP use before, setting up an ID on one IP when travelling, then moving back etc. etc. Nightmare really and thats before I add in the hate mail and obscene postings on my blog from some NLP advocates.----Snowded TALK 11:12, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well when you look at the talk page I can understand your concern. I think every one needs to realize though, that a lot of people will have similar reactions regarding the page especially the lead, and that we have to be careful not to assume guilt by association conceptually An adaptive system (talk) 11:39, 7 January 2013 (UTC)An adaptive system[reply]
