Promotional editing

[edit]

So you were the IP address making the promotional edits to Maddy Dychtwald as well? You do know that editing while logged out to hide one's actions and reverts is a violation of policy, right? SilverserenC 22:11, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That was entirely unintentional and added a lot more time to making edits...my computer broke and I am using another one and didn't realize that I was logged out. Once I realized it I logged in an made the edits. No ill intent here, just a mistake. Amphitwrite (talk) 22:14, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It seems all my edits are removed. Am I unable to make updates to wikipedia pages? Amphitwrite (talk) 22:19, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your changes to the page were a violation of rules against promotion of individuals. The point of Wikipedia pages is to be encyclopedic in coverage, not a resume for the person in question. On that note, considering you also made the article on Ken Dychtwald, I have to ask what your connection is to the two of them. Because this sort of promotional editing implies you are either one of the two of them or closely connected to them. SilverserenC 22:32, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am not either one of them. I do follow their work sporadically because I had office space near their company over two decades ago. So it's not a personal connection in any way. I noticed that Maddy Dychtwald had a new book out and then realized how outdated her page was. And it needed general copyediting. Amphitwrite (talk) 22:37, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Some of your changes were fine, which I have now added back in, but these edits were not. As one example, there's practically no situation on a Wikipedia article where someone would be named as a "thought leader" outside of a quote from a newspaper calling them that. That's just promotional terminology. SilverserenC 22:56, 7 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
