Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Amit Leh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Alakh Pandey (teacher), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Jeraxmoira (talk) 08:31, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeraxmoira I want to assure you that there is absolutely zero chance of any conflict of interest in Alakh Pandey. Alakh Pandey is a renowned teacher in the student community and has made significant contributions. In fact, I found him to be quite notable based on the guidelines set forth by Wikipedia WP:NRVE and WP:GNG, which led me to create the page.Rather than focusing on accusations of a conflict of interest, I kindly request your assistance in expanding the page and adding more valuable information about him.Thank You! Amit Leh (talk) 08:57, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any previous experience editing Wikipedia? and where did you find his birth date from? Jeraxmoira (talk) 09:16, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeraxmoira I am a new user here on Wikipedia. I have recently joined this platform after conducting extensive research on how it works, so I have a fair understanding of the basics. Also I have found the date of birth from his Hindi Wikipeda page(hi:अलख पांडे). Thanks! Amit Leh (talk) 09:38, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you also know that a reliable source is needed to support the content being added on the English Wikipedia, and it doesn't matter which language's Wikipedia you're taking it from?
Could you also elaborate on how, based solely on your extensive research without a prior Wikipedia account and lacking on-hand editing experience, you managed to create a full article about Alakh Pandey? Jeraxmoira (talk) 10:17, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JeraxmoiraI believed that Hindi Wikipedia could be considered a reliable source in itself. However, after considering your perspective, I now understand that it may not always be the case. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.I apologize for any confusion caused by my previous assumption. I am still in the learning process, and I appreciate your guidance in this matter. Thank You! Amit Leh (talk) 10:41, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Would you mind explaining yourself for my second question as well? Jeraxmoira (talk) 11:08, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, All the information you need is readily available on the internet, from start to finish. Here are some resources that helped me understand the process: WP:HTCAP, WP:FIRST, WP:BLP, WP:N, WP:RELIABLE , WP:NPOV , WP:REF, WP:NOT , WP:NOR Most of these resources I found on Quora, where there are many free tutorials available for anyone to learn from. I hope you got your answer. Thank you again! Amit Leh (talk) 05:55, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your explanation is highly irrelevant as none of the policies talk about structuring an article. If you had followed the Wikipedia resources, you would have used the Article Wizard for your first article. And the question is about how you navigated the actual process of drafting and structuring the article about Alakh Pandey without prior editing experience.
