Not sure why footnote 12 is reversed - the cite is showing in the body of the text and the body of text is showing in the cite line. I looked at the code and it looks ok to my inexperienced eye. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fidgetypoet (talk • contribs) 22:01, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Do we really need to know the source code for uploading some article on wikipedia? If some existing page source is copied by inserting your own article, does it acceptable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ICTSG (talk • contribs) 06:13, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!
Greetings!
After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.
The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.
On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:
- Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
- Diversity winner
- Gender-gap fillers
For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

A help from you
I am not technically fluent with the Scots language but I wanted to ask whether you will be able to check and assess the Scots entries which are created by MJL for the WikiProject AfroCine/Months of African Cinema which is scheduled to finish in just over two days. MJL has just created about five articles in Scots language and I hope you will feel convenient in checking them. Your help will be valuable to the contest as it is on the verge of completion. If you are unable to check those articles will you able to ping any volunteers that you know in Scots Wikipedia. Below is the list of articles that I suggest you to assess and then include in the contest page. Thanks for the time and Happy editing! Abishe (talk) 02:03, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

- @Abishe: Hey, apologies for not responding until now, but it appears these articles are already listed under MJL's section. Am I correct? --AmaryllisGardener talk 03:03, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- Well you are right they are listed under MJL's section but the contest needs a local jury who can check the articles for the purpose of prizes. If you are interested you can assess them. Thanks. Abishe (talk) 15:27, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

Not sure how to cite something that happened but there are no news reports, etc.
On the Maryland, My Maryland page, I added the following information to the Efforts to repeal, replace, or revise Maryland's state song section, last paragraph:
A bill was filed in the House of Delegates for the 2020 session to appoint an advisory panel to "review public submissions and suggestions for a new State song", but the bill did not advance past the hearing due to the General Assembly adjourning early due to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.[32][33][better source needed]
Someone made the notation "better source needed". I take it that they mean a better source on the fact that a bill was submitted to repeal the song, etc., and that a hearing took place, and that no further action was taken on the bill due to the General Assembly closing early due to COVID-19.
My problem is that not one news agency covered the bill this year. A new bill is filed almost every year and I think the news just didn't care.
How can I find a better source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marylandeditor (talk • contribs) 20:25, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
The article Alina Bolshakova has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Not notable reality TV contestant
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Renata (talk) 00:51, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

how can i add reference's and linking them to the paragraphs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lsayegh2 (talk • contribs) 05:55, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Lsayegh2: Hey there! You add citations by using the ref tags like this: <ref>Insert reference here</ref> More info about how to make them is located at WP:CITEFOOT. --AmaryllisGardener talk 06:34, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
Copyright issues
recently I edited a page and quoted text from a book by adding a proper reference but then the next day it was taken down and I was told that copying text from books and posting it the same is not okay. I took the same story and edited it as if I am telling the story and posted it with proper reference and source. will this be taken down again? what is the correct way of editing a wiki page with things taken from books and still not violating the copyright rules?

News coverage
Hi.
I read about your adventures in the guardian.
Please don't let others get you down (It's understandable that a teenager would not produce as high quality work as an experienced adult.)
You're obviously passionate about Scots. Keep learning and keep pushing yourself to improve. The path to progress is bumpy... EN wikipedia was terrible for its first few years. I'm sure that the work that you've done can be corrected and improved. And I'm sure if you keep an open mind you can become as good at Scots as any native speaker. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottt (talk • contribs) 17:17, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
Look on the bright side
Hi. Just wanted to say I hope you're doing OK. I know it's easier said than done, but try to ignore the opinions of trolls and keyboard warriors. Anyone who feels the need to harass a stranger who had no bad intentions doesn't deserve to be listened to. Look let's be real, your individual edits were far from constructive, but let's have a look at what you've also done. You've brought significant attention to the lack of support for small languages on Wikipedia and how this was able to get so out of hand in the first place, and the lack of editors to the Scots wiki. There's undoubtedly going to be a whole lot of new editors taking an interest in this project thanks to you, and there will likely be systems put in place to make sure this doesn't happen again. This is not all your fault, this happened because our system is inherently flawed. Sometimes it takes something catastrophic for us to recognise what's wrong in the existing model and create something far better. So yeah, this is embarrassing, but please don't feel like you've wasted your time, and be kind to yourself. And just for the record, I made way worse mistakes when I was your age. Damien Linnane (talk) 02:35, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
Sorry about the drama
Please don't let the angry hordes get to you. I've been editing for a long time, and while I never put even a portion of the effort you have for such major, passionate edits, I wanted to let you know that you should never despair and keep your head up high. I am here if you need any help or just want to talk, maybe on Discord or something. In the end, what happened on Scots Wiki is going to do more good than bad for everyone involved; you renewed interest en masse in the smaller wikis! And while your content was not truthfully top quality, it was an admirable effort nonetheless from all the time sunk in. Eveyrthing will be ok. Hope you're safe.--~Sıgehelmus♗(Tøk) 20:32, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Question about a page deletion
Hello AmaryllisGardener,
I am writing to request help about a situation and I was unable to see how to respond directly to the person who deleted the wikipedia page. The page for Crystal Johnson (singer) has been in existence for many years. It appeared to me that the prior versions of the article did not do justice to this artist's long standing career. I attempted to find valid, additional verifiable sources to expand the article. It doesn't seem fair to her that the page was completely deleted due to any errors on my behalf.
Any help/guidance you can provide to quickly resolve this would be helpful.
