- @John Cline: No email received from you as far as I can tell...even checking our previous correspondence across all my mailboxes, was it on a mailing list? -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 04:42, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hello DeltaQuad. I am apparently generating some kind of error with my attempts to email you a message. I have now tried three times to email the message and so far I have not even received the "sent mail copy" that my preferences set for me to receive copies of messages I send through the Wikipedia email interface. I take that to also imply that you haven't received it either. Therefore, I've posted a copy of the message on your talk page below:
Hello DeltaQuad, I am not sure what happened to the message I first tried sending to you; I am sorry for anything negative this error may have engendered. My reason for contacting you, is to ask for your assent; regarding desires I have to be reinstated to the Account Creation Team. I know that you once were aware of the circumstances which led to my indefinite suspension from the Account Creation Interface, and I know that your decision will serve Wikipedia's best interests, as I agree that they should. And since forgiveness is something that I never can say I deserve, nor is my sanction a thing more than my transgression would reasonably require, I simply approach you in peace and good-will. I am not proud of the choices I've made, and therefor promise, to my last vestige of trust, (if one can ever be trustworthy again): "I will never again in my life, do a nefarious thing; nor shall my hand do a thing that is less than what our highest Wikipedia standards of excellence and other consensus decries of best practice require." The promise of the latter part remains in perpetuity; irrespective of the answer you give. I am thankful to be able to ask for an answer from such a thoroughly competent and insightful person like you; so as to know that the answer, coming soon, will be the best answer someone could possibly find. Sincerely John Cline (formerly My76Strat)
- Thank you very much.--John Cline (talk) 17:33, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hey John, I have received your message and am looking into it again along with a colleague as originally mentioned in our original correspondence. This may take a few days, but I will try and keep you updated here. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 04:51, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- @John Cline: After talking with my colleague, I have no opposition for you to return to ACC, though as a tool root (not technically an administrator), I avoid making decisions in the day to day operations of the tool. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 22:56, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

- @Salvidrim!: WP:BEANS. Feel free to drop me a mail (or IRC - I forget if you have it) and I'll explain in more detail. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 04:53, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- I do use IRC, but I'm rarely on. Do you mind if I recreate the title as a redirect to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SPI/Clerk training (which also needs an update)? It's more of a personal thing, I'd like being able to continue using that specific wikilink. ☺ · Salvidrim! · ✉ 04:57, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- Oh sure. My only concern is the content as it was. Like I also said in the delete reason, it can be distributed to established users. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 05:08, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Recent software changes
- Rotated PDF files in landscape format used to show too small. They will now display correctly. You may need to purge older files. [2]
- You can now use the
{{!}}
magic word instead of Template:!. Many wikis used the template to create a pipe (|
) in tables and templates. You can delete the template. [3]
Software changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf14) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since January 7. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from January 13. It will be on all Wikipedias from January 14 (calendar).
- A bug in VisualEditor sometimes added a
☀
(Sun) character. This is now fixed. [4] - The search and replace tool in VisualEditor is now much faster in long pages. [5]
- The TemplateData editor now uses the same design as VisualEditor. [6] [7] [8]
- The
thumb
option is now shown in your language in the help of the classic editor toolbar. [9]

Thanks
You have so many barnstars that another one might hold less comparative value, so I will suffice with delivering my sincere thanks for the time you put in to investigating the drawer of socks marauding across a few AfDs. Your efforts make it easier for the rest of us to tend to the encyclopedia. MezzoMezzo (talk) 03:40, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. Receiving this vs. a barnstar means all the more too me and makes me smile :) -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 07:00, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Concern
Why was this action taken? Hipocrite (talk) 17:43, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- Currently, at least how I interpret the outing and oversight policies & practices, it is currently prohibited to link someone's accounts elsewhere unless they have done so. I don't agree with it, but it's just how I read the policy. If you wish, I can bring it up on the oversighter's list as my interpretation could be very well flawed of the current status quo. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 06:59, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. I guess something could be subject to oversight while being specifically excluded from our policy on outing. Hipocrite (talk) 13:43, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Recent changes
- You can download the new version of the Wikipedia app for Android. The new version shows lead images, better galleries and content from Wikidata. It also has many other new features.[11] [12]
- Programs and bots still can't read information about images on many wikis. You can see the list of wikis with the most files to fix. Wikipedia in Italian, Indonesian and Japanese language have the most files to fix. On the biggest wikis you should use bots. Bots can add information templates to groups of files. You can ask other tech users to help you.
Problems
- All JavaScript on Commons was broken for a few minutes on Tuesday. It was because of old code in the HotCat tool. The same problem happened on some Wikipedias on Wednesday. It is now fixed. [13]
Software changes this week
- There are no software changes this week and next week due to annual meetings. [14]

Hi
Thanks for suppressing the edits to Anne Kirkbride. I've checked the remaining two edits and the information seems to have been fully suppressed. Thanks again!--5 albert square (talk) 19:40, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
Unblock request
Hey DQ,
You mind taking a look at the unblock request at User talk:Ohhannahday? They seem to be affected by one your blocks. Elockid (Talk) 22:34, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Elockid: Technically it's clean, and is definitely not the target of my original block, but I hesitate at edit number #2 for an IPBE, and one of the IPs used on the colocator /is/ on the webhosting side. Methinks free software proxy...but I have nothing to back that up. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 09:56, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks DQ for the quick response. Elockid (Talk) 22:24, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

ACC Similar Account Workflow Chart
Hi DeltaQuad. I've recently created a revision to the current ACC Similar Account Workflow Chart. It clarifies each step with more specificity and makes it easier for users to understand what each step refers to. For example: "Greater than 1 year?" - Does that refer to the user's last edit, or does that refer to how old the similar account is? I coordinated with some admins on the ACC team in IRC to get a consensus on each step's explicit meaning, and created a new workflow image to add clarity. The proposed new ACC Similar Account Workflow Chart is here. When you have a moment, can you take a look at it and let me know if I made any mistakes, if there is anything I should add/change/fix/remove, and your thoughts on using it as the new reference for the ACC Guide? I'd really appreciate your thoughts and input. :-) ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 01:10, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
