Amanda: I found one scholarly article using the UTM Library that discusses trends and statistics about shopping malls in Toronto. Check it out: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/doi/10.1111/j.1541-0064.2001.tb01498.x/pdf
Amanda: I think we should change our topic to Sherway Gardens
Amanda: We could discuss the construction or reconstruction of it because the description is quite vague.
Beth: Found an article about malls and why they are constructed the way they are. Check it out: http://www.scribd.com/doc/24822840/The-World-in-a-Shopping-Mall — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beth.bos (talk • contribs) 17:51, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Amanda: Is that article scholarly? We could definitively use that.
Natasha: We could discuss the building design and bring in the idea of consumer theory used in the layout Sherway Gardens — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasha.A.Butzow (talk • contribs) 18:00, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Amanda: Here`s an article about the major renovations that took place in 1991: http://search.proquest.com.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/docview/436361313/abstract
Amanda: I found the history of the mall, beginning with its construction and all the reconstructions to date. http://www.sherwaygardens.ca/en/centreinfo/Pages/OurHistory.aspx
Natasha: This article talks about a shopping malls attractiveness from the shoppers perspective. http://journals1.scholarsportal.info.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/details-sfx.xqy?uri=/09590552/v35i0011/936_smaasa.xml — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasha.A.Butzow (talk • contribs) 18:12, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Amanda: Alright, I think we have enough research. Lets start. The original first paragraph states: Sherway Garden is a large shopping mall located in Etobicoke with over 200 stores. It is located on the south-east intersection of The Queensway and The West Mall in the west end of the city on the Mississauga border. It is owned and operated by Cadillac Fairview and features Sears, The Bay, and Holt Renfrew stores as its main anchors. - I don`t know what you guys think, but I think this is REALLY vague. How about we change it to something like this: One of the largest stores in North America, Sherway Gardens is a 850,000 square ft shopping mall located in Etobicoke.[1] The two story mall consists of 127 stores.[2]
Amanda: I`ll handle the description of the mall (how it was originally constructed).
Natasha: I'll handle the idea of what makes a mall attractive to a consumer — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natasha.A.Butzow (talk • contribs) 18:43, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Amanda: Alright so let me get my part done and then it will be a whole lot easier for you guys to incorporate your parts.--Amanda.J.James (talk) 18:49, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Beth: I have some input from Victor Gruen who was the mall architect from the first enclosed mall in 1956...we can look at his 'mall theory' and incorporate it with regards to Sherway — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beth.bos (talk • contribs) 19:29, 7 August 2012 (UTC) --Beth.bos (talk) 19:32, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Beth: Yes...Amanda...that is a lot better. Keep everything to the point and factual. Every sentence must be informative and developed....so (almost) every sentence should be cited because it is fact. --Beth.bos (talk) 19:34, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Amanda: Yeah that definitely sounds good. I`m sure we can squeeze that in somewhere. I kinda feel like I`m just stating the exact facts that the website has given. I`m making sure every sentence is cited though...is that okay?
Amanda: Take a look, three paragraphs DONE!
Beth: That should be okay if they are all in your words and cited correctly. The article I found is definitely scholarly...I had that confirmed. --Beth.bos (talk) 00:15, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Beth: Found another article: http://www.tandfonline.com.myaccess.library.utoronto.ca/doi/abs/10.1080/01944368508976833 ....examines the physical design of malls with relation to social reforms. --Beth.bos (talk) 03:49, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Amanda: So what do we have thus far? what should we add? I'm going to double check my part.--Amanda.J.James (talk) 19:00, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
