Looking for something to do? WikiProject Furry is improving articles on furry and anthropomorphic topics, and we'd like to have you on board.

Our current goal is to raise Anthrocon, furry convention and furry fandom to good article status and beyond - but if that doesn't take your fancy, there are plenty of other articles to work on. Give it a go and let us know how you're doing!

Humans in the zelda series

[edit]

Yes, there is. The term is used frequently in TP, MM, and OoT, as well as some of the other games (check a Text dump).

It includes Hylians, Sheikah, Gerudo (per MM), Ikana? (whatever the Termina high race is called) and Hyrulians/Holodrummers/Labrynnans/Koholinters.Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 17:56, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, so they really are just races then...(i.e. nonrandom grouping of traits) not species. —AltiusBimm 20:05, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Umlaut, etc.

[edit]

Thanks for the note on my talk page. I'm surprised that I hadn't noticed the error on the omitted "c", which had been there for a long time. Actually, I already knew about the proper use of the umlaut too; I must have been tired or in a big hurry when I made that entry.

Do you speak German? (I don't speak much, and I've never formally studied it, although I can speak a few sentences. My wife and I visited her family in Germany some years ago.)

Anyway, thanks. Famspear (talk) 14:07, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Wren to the Rescue (Firebirds 2004).jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wren to the Rescue (Firebirds 2004).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Reification.svg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 21:08, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit of my user page

[edit]

Hi!

Interesting edits on my user page. A couple comments on it: My user page is a rant, not a thesis. Rants do not require the same level of citation that theses do. I didn't name names out of simple fear of retribution. So I'm a coward :).

But, just to clarify: I am not arguing against citation. I am fully on board with Wikipedia's verification standards. It's the notability standard I have a problem with. If I were king of Wikipedia, the criterion for inclusion of an article would be, "Would a reasonable person look to Wikipedia for information on this subject". If an article is non-controversial, verifiable, and there is no conflict of interest by the author, then who cares if the primary or secondary sources are volunteers rather than paid professionals, and who cares how few people might be interested in the information? That's my position, but I know that it is hopelessly far from the Wikipedia consensus, so I don't see much point in trying to argue it anywhere outside my user page.

Fair use rationale for File:Senrid (YA Angst 2007).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Senrid (YA Angst 2007).jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 13:57, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated List of countries by college population, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of countries by college population. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

A tag has been placed on File:Sherwood Smith - Talk Like a Pirate Day.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Blatant copyright violation, fails fair use (subject is living) etc

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:File:Sherwood Smith - Talk Like a Pirate Day.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Exxolon (talk) 18:46, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:34, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello AltiusBimm,

I saw the excellent work you did on posting the cover for Ron Paul's book, The Revolution. I'm not very good with wikipedia, no matter how much I seem to try and I couldn't even begin to post as good as what you did. I was curious if you could post the cover art for Thomas Wood's book, Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse. As well as for the movie poster for: For Liberty: How the Ron Paul Revolution Watered the Withered Tree of Liberty. Thank you.

More information needed about File:Wren to the Rescue (Harcourt 1990).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Wren to the Rescue (Harcourt 1990).jpg. However, it needs some more work before it is okay to use on Wikipedia.

Please click here and do the following:

  1. Add a description of where the image comes from (not what it is) and who the creator is. Please be specific, and include a link if you can.
  2. Find the appropriate license from the list of free, non-free media, or public domain options. Copy the license template and paste it in the file's page, and save.

If you follow these steps, your image can help enhance Wikipedia. If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the media copyright questions page.

The article Kurio has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Very little content. Not enough content to establish notability or provide enough context. Seems like a work in progress that was left abandoned over time. Userfication may be considered.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Michaelzeng7 (talk) 22:27, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AltiusBimm, it looks like you created Kurio and then gave up on it, or left it. At the moment it may be deleted because it doesn't include a lot of information or context about the subject of the article. If you want you can remove the PROD tag and/or add more information and references to it. Or I can move the draft article into your userspace so you can continue to work on it without having to worry about it being deleted. If you want me to move it into your userspace reply here and I'll move it for you. Regards, Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 00:46, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was sort of hoping the Wikipedia community would be, well wikiwiki enough to fill in some details before eligibility for speedy deletion came up. Userspace is fine though. :-) —AltiusBimm (talk) 00:10, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Cloudo

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cloudo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the page be "userfied" or emailed to you. Grammarxxx (What'd I do this time?) 19:42, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
